Patty's Cakes is a Lakewood GEM! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Patty's Cakes isn't just a name, it's a full-on flavor explosion! This place quickly became my go-to spot for soul food in Lakewood.Let's start with the star of the show: the fried chicken. Crispy, juicy perfection! Every bite was seasoned just right, and the breading had that satisfying crunch. The sides are all amazing too. The collard greens were cooked low and slow, bursting with savory goodness. The red beans and rice were perfectly balanced, with tender beans and flavorful rice. Yams were candied to sweet perfection, and the dressing was like a fluffy, savory hug on a plate. I couldn't resist the mac and cheese, and it was rich and creamy, just the way I like it.But wait, there's more! Patty's also has incredible fried catfish. Golden brown on the outside and flaky on the inside, it was every bit as good as the chicken. And for dessert? Don't even get me started on the banana pudding ice cream! Creamy, dreamy, and with just the right amount of banana flavor.Oh, and did I mention they do cakes? I recently tried a slice of cake from them, and it was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious. Fresh, moist, and perfectly decorated – a crowd-pleaser for sure!Patty's Cakes is a hidden gem in Lakewood. Friendly service, amazing food, and portions that will leave you satisfied. This place gets a big thumbs up from me!

Wow, I always drove by this place and never noticed it. Today I was looking for something else but they were closed.... when I went in around 1pm there were 4 or 5 people waiting, I ordered fried chicken with side of rice n gravy and potato salad and peach cobbler. As any home cooked meals it takes time.... so while I was waiting I ordered 1 chochip cookie n side of 2pc cat fish n peach ice tea. Once I've got it I sat outside lil aluminum table and ate everything. I was one happy camper. I will definitely back. Btw fried chicken was great and cat fish was lil bit on salty side but still good. CORN CAKE WAS THE BOMB!! Rice with gravy was great!!

Me and fam were close to Patty's for a basketball tournament and decided to drop in after hearing about those cakes, I'm glad we did. We had chicken (both fried and smothered), greens, mac, cornbread and lots and lots of cakes (we had to try one of each because there is a one slice minimum per customer). I have to say, the Strawberry Crunch and the German Chocolate cakes were smackin! The chicken was on point and the greens were delicious....we'll be back!

I ordered 3 piece chicken, could not get all wings, they were out of rice and greens, but the reason we drove 15 miles was to get the strawberry crunch cake and was told we can only order one slice for me and my wife, so we did not spend our money there! How can you call the store cake’s and cobblers but then restrict customers to buying one piece per family and not even post it? At least if you post that on website or have signs that say that then customers don’t have a reason to write reviews like this about your place of business.

Patty's needs to be on your list if you're a lover of fried chicken or soul food. One of those "it's worth the wait" type of places. I've had an eye on this spot and finally got the chance to come and order some food on a Saturday afternoon. The spot was busy with plenty of locals waiting for their orders. Whether or not you intended on coming in for cake, you'll most definitely leave with some. There is a variety of cake slices to choose from depending on your taste. I've been craving good fried chicken. You'd think it's easy to find, but it's not always done right. The chicken here was super fresh, or maybe I was just lucky and got a fresh batch. Nevertheless, I waited around 20 minutes. The smells of home cooking filled the air and my hunger continued to grow. I got a fried chicken combo with collard greens and Mac and cheese. Each plate comes with 3 pieces of chicken, but I ordered an extra side. The chicken seems to be coated in cornmeal and there's not a super thick coating. Crispy, seasoned, and juicy are the words I would use to describe. Usually, the sides are an afterthought, but not here. I was surprised to finish everything. Collard greens were fresh, well seasoned, smoky, and had good texture. The mac and cheese was cheesy and not too dry. I had to get some cake to try too. Although, I wasn't sure which one since they all looked great. I ended up picking the strawberry red velvet slice. Definitely a slice of nostalgia and reminded me of childhood. It's sweet... maybe even more than I usually prefer. But I devoured it even after eating all that chicken. This place is doing great things. It has that southern charm and hospitality. Filled with locals. Serving great food. If you're looking for a meal that will leave you happy, I'd recommend coming here.

Everything was so delicious. Fish fried to perfection! I would've left pictures but I ate my food so fast. The cake was tasty too! P. S. Come early because the food goes fast! Especially the chicken and greens! Rice and gravy, cakes, pies, everything sales fast!

the food here is hella bomb! they make your food fresh to order when you arrive/when you order. I got combo #2 which is the cat fish fillet w/ 2 sides with my sides being candied yams and rice n gravy. decent price $16.75 with tax it came out to $18.47. I definitely recommend trying this place out if you're looking for that soul/southern comfort food!

After a Yelp search for a new lunch place I decided to drive in to Lakewood. Imagine my surprise when a Honda lady said lunch was on them today in honor of Black History month. Yayyyy, what's not to love about free? I ordered the catfish with red beans/rice and greens, and also a kids plate of smothered chicken with yams. The catfish was very good. Pure cornmeal might mean there were a few kernels that were gravel like, but that's cornmeal for ya. Nicely seasoned and moist. The red beans and rice were good also. Now, about the greens. I'm one of those people that just love, loves, greens. I've heard of greens that were a little too vinegary, a little too salty, or undercooked at other places. These greens would have been fine, but they were sweet??? Sweet greens was a first for me, and I just couldn't get used to it. I will say the johnnycake that comes with the meal was super delish. The smothered chicken was a treat and candied yams were good. Don't sleep on the peach cobbler they know what they're doing.

Love this place! They've only been open less than a year. I usually get their smothered chicken with sides, and I love trying their cakes. If you like homemade ice cream, I would definitely try their banana pudding ice cream it's fire!

Been to this place twice now, and can say that the food here is consistently smacking! I don't think I've ever went to a soul food joint where the Mac and cheese and the yams were both banging. Yams are definitely cooked with marshmallow love. Greens are on point as well, with big flavor and not overly salted. I recommend the fried catfish and get the honey bun cake, really good stuff.
