The ssssalivation is REAL! Coop knows how to do it right! His Q is legit. Tasty, tender, juicy ribs n brisket that don’t need any sauce. Every bite that slides off the bone has loads of smokiness. They go down like buttahh... But, le’me tell you, that spicy sauce is so dope. It’s bursting with so much flavor and adds some heat to the bites. It’s just a cherry on top of the sundae. So ask for the spicy sauce. It’s so good.Their sides are all great. Starting with that cornbread. The pieces are huge and perfect. They have the right amount of moisture that they don’t get all crumbly n crummy. So yummy! I could stop there, but I love their bbq beans that have chunks of pineapple. Didn’t expect that my first time there when they first opened. But I’ve been a sucker for it ever since. If you don’t want something sweet, the red beans n rice are also great. They even have chunks of the brisket in it. I must say, I never really had collard greens till I discovered Coops. I’ve had it since at other places, but I really like the way they make the greens here. I always gotta have it on my plate to complete my scrumptious meal. I usually order for pick up and bring my stash home for the fam. There is limited seating inside and outside if you can’t wait to get home. The tortuous drive is the hardest part for me!Thanks for keeping the legend goin, Coop!(The only drawback: the hours! Please stay open past 3pm. People don’t grab dinner before then. The business will at least triple if it stayed open to at least 6-7pm! And summer is coming!I’ll do (5) stars for service then. ; D )

Expectations were met .. not the best bbq that I've had , but definitely a place I'm likely to return to when visiting Cali . At last min myself and my bff had decided that we wanted to have a gathering for my cousins anniversary and we needed a place that could provide a decent amount of food at last minute. This place did not disappoint . When we arrived to pick up our order , the parking lot was filled with the amazing smell or bbq meats . They were close to closing, so there wasn't anyone dinning in but they were a few people placing and picking up orders. It's a Small cozy restaurant, so it's likely that they do more Togo's than anything else . The workers were friendly and polite. Food was plenty and of decent quality. After living in Dallas for so long my take on a lot of things from back home (Cali ) makes me a look like a trader lol . Down south has the best bbq ever , and I'll wait with confidence for someone to prove me wrong, lol. The smoked flavor/smell was heavily on the meats (I'm not complaining). Both The ribs and the chicken were slightly tough for my liking but they were still both enjoyable. Both the greens and the Mac & cheese were bland and lacked seasoning, which for me wasn't an issue because I actually prefer to season my own foods especially soul food . The baked beans took the cake!! I'm not big on beans ( it's a texture/allergy thing ), so if I tell you some type of bean was a hit , take my word for it.

We are kind of barbecue brisket snobs so we try everywhere, ha ha. The brisket here was pretty good. Probably wouldn’t hack it against some of the best in West Texas but for San Diego it was above average. I actually thought their sides of potato salad and collard greens were exceptionally good. I’ll give the brisket another try.

The portions at Coops West BBQ are generous, so be sure to come hungry. And if you have any room left for dessert, their homemade peach cobbler is a must-try. It's the perfect ending to a delicious meal. In addition to the amazing food, the service at Coops West BBQ is top-notch. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. They truly go above and beyond to ensure that every customer has a great experience! PS. Make sure you try their brisket!!!!

I haven't written a yelp review in yearsssss but had to break that drought for this business. Hands down the best BBQ/Southern food in all of San Diego. Meats are the perfect blend of smoky and tender, sides are actually tasty and flavorful and not an afterthought they way they are at other joints, including the big overrated SD chain that crazy tourists stand in long lines for. Coop's is the place to check out if you visit, and the place to frequent if you're a local. My faves so far are the brisket and pulled pork, along with the mac n cheese and red beans and rice. Cornbread is perfect and moist. The sweet tea was not overly sweet for someone like me who always goes for the unsweetened iced tea. Service is friendly and fairly quick considering the generous portion size. Also loved seeing the diversity of the patrons, you can tell people who know real bbq and are part of the neighborhood are who come here. I was shocked to see a Gofund me up, since it's so damn good. It would be a travesty and shame of epic proportions if this business ever closed, so please, go and support them!

I love Coop's! You can taste the love and passion for BBQ in every bite. The quality has been consistent every single time I have eaten there. My favorites are the smoked brisket, collard greens, and mac and cheese. The staff is the friendliest you will find anywhere and Mr. Coop will greet you with a smile!

Food is gross. The meat glows no BS. I ordered a brisket sandwich and the meat has a rainbow glow on it. Absolutely disgusted. Mac n cheese tasted like a bottle of Lawry seasoned salt dry no cheese... I mean I could go on! 2 corn bread packaged in sandwich bags like the kind with no ziplock and anyway Chile' that thing was so dry and tasteless I almost cried love because a girl wants what she wants and this was a COMPLETE LET DOWN. The red beans and rice was. It fresh either!! Like literally the whole meal- it was all trash. We didn't eat it to say the least- i didn't even give it to my neighborhood homeless guy I usually feed. This was a waste of $60 something dollars. And beyond the money Chile, I called and spoke with someone that knows about the meat and it's particular color, they said it's There's because of the cows diet and offered an apology along with a replacement m/credit for JUST the sandwich by the way..... . ABSOLUTELY NEVER GOING BACK

Went to Coops the other day and was very disappointed. Has it changed ownership? It wasn't the fantastic food I've enjoyed over the years. The brisket was fatty and tough! The peach cobbler was awful! So sad, have always loved Coops!!

This place was so good I came here two days in a row for lunch after discovering this spot. I asked the super helpful and friendly lady at the register for some recommendations. She recommended the brisket. This was some of the best if not the best bbq brisket I've had. The portion size was generous . The sides were awesome as well. I had collard greens and Mac and cheese. I'll be back to try the ribs and pulled pork and everything else on the menu. I saw Mr. Coop on my way out and offered my complements to him personally, he was super humble and nice!

Great customer service, order was put together fast and ready to go. The price is kind of high for the amount of food that you get. The flavor of the food was okay, not the kinda cooking that your Mama or Grandma makes.

I did not care for their Chicken and Waffles! The chicken was too salty and the waffles were too dry.

I original went to pick up some peach cobbler here yesterday for my pastor Birthday. It was a welcoming atmosphere from the parking lot to inside the store, the aroma was wonderful so I decided to get him some food as well! He said the food and cobbler was delicious! If you are reading this review. Definitely go in and try it for yourself. :)

My mom went in kind of early, to pick up some BBQ for her, + some friend's going to a special visit. She ended up getting 4-5 plates or pork + beef with sides. The employees were FANTASTIC ! Very nice helpful and Excellent Customer Service. I got my mom's left overs. Lol. Beef, a bun, BBQ sauce and macaroni and cheese. Every bit of the food tasted absolutely Delicious. Fantastic Food, and Fantastic Customer Service. I Highly Recommend Them. Thank You for taking care of my mom, and for the Great Food.
