Ordered a chicken salad no croutons or crackers, looks like half of a chicken breast was on there not a whole lot. I asked for extra salad they wanted $1 more.

Unassuming place with solid double cheeseburger with a generous helping of fries. Hit the spot.

I ate here right after school let out for the local kids, I think there's a middle school nearby? I didn't know about this place, came here on a whim, so not prepared for that. We were served pretty quickly regardless of the bunch of kids hanging around waiting for food, and the food was DELICIOUS. I had the buffalo chicken cheese fries, and they were better than I expected. You can tell they put care into it, there was a generous serving of chicken, the cheese was good and melted well, and the sauce was great (could be a little spicier for me personally, but I like more spice than most). I don't know what they are, but there were greens on it too and that completed the texture so well (as well as made me feel a little less guilty about eating this!). It was a great meal, the only bad part was when it ended. Could be a little warmer and spicier, but those are small personal nitpicks. I had the water and it was good too. There's a claw machine and some quarter toy machines too. Prices range from quite good to Long Beach local place expensive. Kinda low key diner vibes, not bad at all but it's missing a little something for that full five stars. But definitely pop by if you're curious, they have Mexican and more American fare and if they're anything like the burrito and buffalo chicken cheese fries we had, you'll get something made with care and you will love it, it's a hidden gem. Just know the parking lot is a bit small, we were lucky enough to find a space but during peak times, you might have to drive around a bit.

Their burgers are still amazing. Brings back memories from middle school.

Seems to have some good value items on the menu. I tried the mushroom Swiss burger. The burger is pretty big (though thin) and the mushrooms were good. I didn't realize it would come with onions & special sauce. I think next time I'll ask for it without those but you may like them. Combo came with fries (pretty good) and a drink for around $11. Basically this place is exactly what you expect it to be and I appreciate that. Staff were very friendly and helpful as well.

I really wish this place was good. I try to support small business, so every few years I try their burgers again. I'd love to update this to review to five stars sometime in the future, but Dan's somehow becomes more and more disappointing each visit. The burger was cold and wet, like they threw soaked lettuce and tomato on top. The avocado tasted like it had been kept in the fridge uncovered for a while. The onion rings, fried inside and out, crumbled when lifted and shattered when bitten. I hope this review stops others from being dissapointed, or maybe even convinces the folks at Dan's to step it up.

I will NEVER go back and spend another dime and "Desperate Dan's". And I spent money with Dan. I ordered a BLT for 11$ and when I got home and opened up that sandwich, boy I tell you, I really couldn't believe my eyes. 3 pieces of hard bacon. Yeah 3 pieces.. A ton of lettuce. And 2 soggy tomatoes. Yeah. 3 little pieces of bacon. The fries usually be on point but they were not even cooked. No color at all. Just raw. I feel bad cause someone else went and bought that for me after I sent them over there. It's all good though. Never again. Don't ever order a BLT. Or at least check your bag before you leave. Cause they don't care.

Arrived and already guy at grill didn’t get someone to help me. Finally guy comes out from back after eating food. Food wasn’t ready for pick up. The cap on my drink wasn’t closed all the way. Also service with a more friendly feel would be nice.

I had a very tasty Western burger at Dan's. In my opinion excellent prepared. More than enough fries on the side. Friendly and swift service.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Dan's today. First of all, it took more than 20 minutes to get our order. When it finally arrived, my patty melt was on white bread, fries were cold and my son's toast was not toast at all, rather warmed up bread on the grill. Pretty sad meal for $30. When I complained about the toast, the guy, who said he was the manager, said that was how they make toast. I've seen a lot of toast in my 74 years, and that was not toast. Dan's what had become of you?
