Elevated food and ambience but keeps it very grounded with authentic styles and dishes. Amazing cocktails and easy to spend several hours here getting food and drinks.

It was a good atmosphere where it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. If you don’t like loud not the place. Very loud. They tell you ahead of time the food comes out when ready. We were a table of 5 and our food came out about every 10 min. way too long. Drinks took about 10-15 min. Chips and guacamole took 20 min. Slow service. Not coming back.

The food here is excellent, but the services is consistently terrible. I've been 3-4 times and the services has been bad every time. Forgotten food orders, drinks that took 45 minutes to get to the table even though the restaurant only had 3 or 4 tables at the time, server acting oddly, etc. If you like the food, order takeout.

Great cocktails, excellent creative dishes, beautiful space. Has free parking across the street. Would be packed if it were in a fancier neighborhood or in LA. Hope more people in LB discover it!Vegetarian options: Definitely enough vegetarian options to get by, all quality.Parking: Street parking is usually tight, but there is reserved off street parking in a lot across the street that I've never seen full.

Trendy date-night spot but the quality and value for the food was not worth the high prices. Drinks and food were OK but higher than average and tasted below average compared to so similar date-night spots around. Service was OK but not too attentive at our

Great food! The ceviche, taquitos de papa, carnitas, and scallops are always a go-to. The atmosphere and staff are amazing as well. It's definitely a place to go when down in Long Beach.

I have held off on quite a while leaving my favorite spot a review because I selfishly do not want it to get too popular where I can no longer grab a seat at the bar.I go here just about once a week as long as I do not travel which I do a lot for work. Every time I go somewhere and eat Mexican food and have a margarita, I immediately go back to El Barrio when I get home. They have the absolute best happy hours. The best margaritas I have ever had and I can't even begin to explain how many margaritas I have at various places around the US.They have a diverse tequila and mezcal selection. I love getting mezcal margaritas especially as Cadillacs. My go to.The Mexican candy shots are bomb. The brunch is bomb. I've done the Firme drag brunch and it's a great time. Definitely bring your friends and get a pitcher or two of margaritas.I've gone for all kinds of specialty holidays and guest bartenders. That's also what I love. If you're a regular, there will almost always be something new including different seasonal drinks and food to try. They have the best staff too. From the chef, to the manager, to the servers, and to the bartenders. I have experienced nothing but great service from every single individual that works there. In a place like southern California flooded with so many Mexican restaurants, this is the hidden gem. I assure you will not be disappointed.Parking: There is designated parking across the street in a small lot.

From the outside you would not think it's as nice as it is inside but it's really nice, contemporary, & welcoming. The highback booths make you feel like you're the only ones in the restaurant.I met some friends for happy hour and the food was delicious! We ordered Nacho Tacos, Birria & potato tacos, and a Birria burrito. ALL of the items were delicious & I am going back to this restaurant.

ok .. I went to this place reluctantly, but a friend wanted to check it out. I saw the fried chicken and thought, too much sauce saw the potato Tacos and asked why. The drinks looked too pretty for my soda water and tequila drinking nature. We ordered the Chiveche, then the Steak Fajitas, added the Potato Tacos (cause i was curious) and closed with the Fried Chicken at the Bartenders suggestion. The Bartender bought us a shot of Don Julio Silver and a Mescal, cucumber, and passion fruit Liqueur cocktail that was a perfect Balance of Smokey, Citrus and refreshing. The Fajitas were cooked to buttery perfection, the Potato Tacos were strangely addicting, and the Fried Chicken was cooked perfect and full of flavor. And that sauce I was afraid of, was a perfect subtle compliment to the Fried Chicken with the coleslaw rounding out the experience. Cool and satisfying. Thanks to El Barrio Cantina for the great food and wonderful drinks.... I hope everyone gets the opportunity to experience El Barrio Cantina !
