Came here about a week ago while staying in Long Beach for a conference, I’ve stopped by Moonrise a few times while staying in LB, but there has been some changes. For one I believe they changed owners because the menu seems to be more Americanized than before. They got rid of the chicken wings, egg rolls, spring rolls and bao buns and added more sandwiches and bagels instead. They did keep the boba and the banh mis, however the banh mis don’t really compare to how they used to be. The sandwich overall was smaller than it used to be, the bread was hard, and there was barely any carrots and daikon in the sandwich. The banh mi also now costs $10 instead of $7 like how it used to, which is understandable because of inflation; however I believe it is not worth to pay $10 for a lower quality banh mi. This is pretty disappointing because I do believe the previous business had a good thing going with their previous menu and quality banh mi, this was a hidden gem I used to like to go to while staying in the Downtown area. However with the sharp down turn in quality of the products that is now offered I will not be returning

Came in on a Monday and the young girl that helped us was very friendly and welcoming, she let us try a sample of a few different things and we loved all of them! She gave us suggestions to visit as we were from out of town. We will definitely come back when we’re in Long Beach.

This place deserves the positive reviews. I really enjoyed the grilled beef sandwich on a light bread French baguette. ?

My favorite is the Combination Bahn Mi: it comes with the real Vietnamese-style paté! I also like the Vietnamese Milk Tea with Boba.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat roll-in and accessible tables.

Pretty disappointing. The chicken was really hard and dried out like they had taken leftovers from a while ago to make the sandwich. I almost broke a tooth on it.

Located on a sluggish part of E Broadway just west of Atlantic, Moonrise Vietnamese restaurant serves a very tight set of dishes, focusing on apps, rice dishes, and Bahn Mi sandwiches. Stopped inside for lunch on a Monday afternoon, and there was some seating inside. The picture menu is broadcast electronically above the kitchen, and once you are ready, you place and pay for your order at the front register. In about 10 minutes, they will deliver the food to you. I had come here for the Bahn Mi, so their Combination Sandwich ($7.95) hit the spot. The Vietnamese Baguette was perfect, light but crispy, airy but firm enough to hold the ingredients (would love to use this bread for all sorts of subs and hoagies). All the pickled vegetables and herbs were great, fresh and crisp. And there was just enough pate spread to give it that funkiness, mixed with the sourness of the vegetables. There just wasn't much meat (one thin slice of each promised protein), but reasonable for the price. I also got the shrimp spring rolls ($6.95 for two), and they were massive, bigger than what's I've ever gotten at a Vietnamese restaurant before, about the size of a Taco Bell burrito (deserving of two hands while eating). The taste was ok (wish they had mixed the ingredients more by cutting the vegetables more finely...the cucumber spear was quite thick and could dominate every bite....the taste of the shrimp was overwhelmed). It came with a good peanut sauce. Everything was served as to-go, even though I ate it in-house. They also have a selection of flavored teas and coffees (too strong for me), but were kind enough to give a small glass of complementary iced tea for dine-in (the reusable glass was the only thing I returned...everything else, I self-bussed). I was whistling happy tunes after this meal while walking home, especially after the two previous misses.

Nothing but good thing to say. Reasonably priced, good portion size, fresh ingredients! Also got a Thai milktea that was also on point. Customer service was very friendly and helpful.

Dropped by to order lunch for me and my husband to pickup for a tailgate party. The friendly lady at the cashier was patient and cooperative as I asked questions before I ordered what I thought would be the best foodie experience at Moonrise. I ended up ordering two (2) of their their infamous pork banh mi sandwiches, steamed pork buns and my very first boba jasmine tea; which all were delicious and interesting at the same time. I loved the entire experience! Thanks and see you very soon !

Surprisingly delicious grilled pork sandwich which was on a toasted French roll crispy on the outside with super fresh veggies! I honestly was now expecting a banh mi sandwich outside of Little Saigon to be so good at a reasonable price. Kudos to the chef and the owner for bringing this cafe to downtown LB.

Tried their charbroiled pork & noodle bowl with a Thai iced tea and everything was delicious! The pork was well seasoned and the chopped & pickled veggies were fresh. I'm pretty picky with good Vietnamese food so I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful everything was. Their Thai tea was refreshing and how Thai tea should taste without the over the top sweetness some places make it. The way they package everything with reusable plastic was sturdy and kept everything in place during delivery. I'll be trying more of their other entrees in the future- just nice to know there are small businesses putting out great simple and authentic Asian dishes.
