We recently moved to Lakewood. Normally we have sushi in J-Town or Torrance, but we don't really want to drive too far. We had sushi at a spot in Lakewood a month ago, but it was terrible. A relative recommended this place, and I have to say, I was skeptical. Anyway, we came at around 7:30pm on a Saturday. Parking was not too easy, but luckily we found street parking nearby. The interior is really well done. We could immediately tell that there is major customer loyalty, since I believe it is the owner that greets everyone and there were a lot of regulars. The servers are very friendly and attentive. I was very surprised that they had a great selection of fish (great fish) and even had ankimo (monkfish liver) and natto (fermented soybeans) too. The salmon skin salad also is the best salad I have ever had! We loved everything about this really great place and definitely will be back soon!

Delicious rolls- we ordered three rolls - and the owner was very nice! They were very understanding about gluten free allergies and allowed changes to the rolls. Definitely will be back.

Song took care of us! The uni and oyster shooter was fabulous! We loved the hospitality and the excellent service. The rolls were very tasty. Thank you for the fresh sushi!

Mmm...I hate to be harsh but...this place is surrounded by better options. By quality and portion, Sushi Ai is the better choice. Sushi on Fire was servicing me immediately with complimentary miso soup and can rival Ai with quality. I REALLY don't want to slam this place, I don't like doing it. But I have the feeling the moment I try Sushi Nikkei, this place falls to fifth in the pecking order among all the places on 2nd Street. I didn't hate it, but I'm not impressed.

Great sushi and great service! Excellent presentation. Very cute restaurant, perfect for a little date night or dinner with a small group of friends. I have lived in LB for years and had been to every sushi place on 2nd except this one, until recently! I wish I had tried it sooner. There was a little bit of a wait to get a table (went on a Fri night around 8pm, no reservations). But after we ordered, the sushi came out pretty fast. We ordered the lemon roll, which I didn't expect to be one of the rolls on fire, but it was - and it was a nice surprise! The roll was delicious too!! We ordered another roll - I can't remember the name of it - but it was delicious too! I was definitely pleased with the service and food and would come again. :)

The best sushi, service, and atmosphere around. The owner and staff are all terrific. Very high quality sushi (and I am very very picky!). Love this place!Kid-friendliness: They are very kid friendly, kind, and accommodating. Colorful kids’ chopsticks holders are on the house, and no shame if an adult uses them

ONE OF MY GO TO SUSHI RESTAURANTS ON 2ND STREET!!!Every time I go there, I always know what I am going to get... FRESH FISH!!!I usually like to get a variety of rolls and share them. It's cool because it comes out on a large wooden tray, and they set it out so nicely. My favorite roles are the Long Beach Roll and Candy Roll because the yellowtail and tuna is so good! The service is great. All servers are attentive and friendly. The owner, Song, is so welcoming. I think he has a lot of returning customers, not only because of the yummy sushi, but also because of him! Also, the restaurant isn't so big inside, and there is a little patio in the front, but if there is a waitlist, it is totally worth the wait.Enjoy! :)
