My wife and I came to the Potholder in Los Alamitos this morning. My wife got a notice from Yelp and decided to try it. We chose to sit inside booth seating, but they also have a lot of outdoor seating if you prefer to be outside? I ordered the Frankie Special: 2 eggs, 2 french toast or 2 pancakes, with 2 sausage or 2 bacon. I opted for an upgrade to the waffle for a slight up charge. I chose the sausage and had my eggs scrambled. The eggs were fluffy and the sausage was cooked perfectly with a good flavor. I ordered a side of salsa for my eggs. The Salsa is homemade. None of that bottled stuff. Good flavor and not too hot. The waffle was good, but I prefer it to be a bit crisper. They put cinnamon in their batter and had a good flavor. Next time I will ask it to be cooked crisper. My Wife had the chorizo scramble real chorizo which she really enjoyed. The egg to chorizo ratio was very good. The corn tortillas were very good. They were very fast with the coffee refills. We had the fresh orange juice, it was delicious. Our server Faus gave great service . We will be back soon

Food was OK- not too pricey but wasn’t as flavorful. Had to wait a little bit for a party of 4. I would recommend every once in a while for a quick bite.

Great place if you enjoy getting totally ripped off and like paying extreme prices for very little food. Case in point, 1 slice of French toast is $6. Wanna add 2 strawberries and 10 blueberries to that? That will be an additional $5. Unbelievable.

First and last time here. Nothing wrong with the food, but the prices are a total rip off. Ordered 1 slice of French Toast, which list for close to $6 on the menu. It then list strawberries, blue berries and banana below it in parentheses. I asked for strawberries and bluberries. I figured those most be included with the French toast. WRONG!! Got the bill and the 1 piece of French toast was over $11. Apparently adding 2 sliced strawberries and maybe 10 blueberries is an additional $5. I've never felt so ripped off in my life. I'd like to know how can they possibly justify this price. Be very careful what you order here, cause this place is shady AF

Breakfast/brunch: Great mom-and-pop style diner with a broad menu for a small place. We ate on the patio and enjoyed the wonderful weather. The staff was great and what we ordered arrived quickly, hot, and delicious. My coffee never ran out or got cold, and they checked in with us constantly like we were regulars or family. (Our first time there.) We'll be back any time we're in the area.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available.

The experience is actually quite pleasant after a beautiful hike with friends. My favorite dish is breakfast burrito because it’s the perfect thing to have to get my energy back, easy on my tummy. Love the flavor. Atmosphere is calm and not noisy so me and my friends don’t have to talk over the noise. I’m thinking this is a good to place to wind down . Glad the group leader gave this destination to us for after hike events.Vegetarian options: We have a vegan in our group and this fits his diet perfectly.

Visited the Potholder Cafe in Los Alamitos, not realizing there was one here (been to the Long Beach one). Asked hubby for a brunch stop after grabbing water next door. Service was good, but the food was hit and miss. I went for a pancake, and yes, just a pancake! Regrettably, I ordered J.R.'s flagship with rice, and it was a letdown. Overcooked poached egg and the rice was spoiled - I know my rice, being Asian. Foul smell and watery. Asked to remove it from the bill due to lost appetite. Disappointing as a restaurant should spot spoiled food. Pancake was alright. 2 stars, saved by decent service.

The Potholder Cafe in Los Alamitos is a nice alternative to the other breakfast spots in the area which can be too long of a wait. We went on a rainy President's Day and were seated right away, the server said to choose a table and we chose the 2nd booth from the door. We had a good view of our car from the parking lot and watched the rain drops gently fall onto the windows. I ordered a hot coffee which had free refills and a country fried steak with over easy eggs along with white toast on the side. The coffee was typical diner type coffee and there were creamers such as half & half, french vanilla, and hazelnut. The condiments located on the end of the table were ketchup, Cholula hot sauce (my favorite), salt & pepper, and assorted sugar packets. I liked the chicken fried steak for its simplicity in flavor and for being a hearty amount of a meal. The country potatoes could use a little more salt & seasoning (half star off), but otherwise everything was cooked and satisfied my hunger. The restaurant is a bit narrow and small which is probably why they have more outside patio seating. The decor wasn't too outdated, but could use more color or a theme to be more aesthetically pleasing (half star off). The service was fast & efficient, excellent job to Silvia! I would probably return to try the omelettes or Mexican type dishes if I was in the area. The food was not very distinct in flavor (meaning the taste of the food didn't stand out), but the several menu options were worth giving a try. So if you don't want to cook at home, then drop your potholder and go to The Potholder Cafe in the city of Los Alamitos for your next breakfast or brunch.

Our server was super nice and helpful. They had a good amount of vegan options. Really good diner food and large portions. The patio area is nice.
