Delicious food and great service at the heart of Los Altos. The menu has so many interesting options and there were several tempting specials, we will need to come back to try it all. The crab toast, the duck cake and the scallop appetizers were very tasteful, as well as our main entree (a halibut special). Our waiter was very helpful, the atmosphere was great and they also had a nice drinks and wine menu.

Just phenomenal !Glad we randomly discovered this place while strolling by. We didn't have reservations but were promptly accommodated. The quality was wonderful, and the service was phenomenal. This has definitely gone on our "date night" list of places.

Exceptional dinner. Oysters, cocktails, wines by the glass, steak and coq co vin were exceptional. The service from a lovely Italian waitress was extraordinary.

Date NightASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognitionThis was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los AltosWith high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experienceThe menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first openedI loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellentFor entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menuAs a fungi ? fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and PeninsulaThe only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risottoASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings)? Smoked and Stoned $16 / Anchovy Bread $16 / Dungeness Crab Toast $36 / Special Striped Bass over Risotto / ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34?ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA)Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted.

My third time there. The food is always very good as well as the service. The only negative was I noted on the reservation, where asked, it was for a birthday and no one inquired mentioned while we were there.

Another great dinner, this time on a Monday night. Noise level was moderate and the restaurant's tables were full. All in all, an enjoyable evening. Outstanding and attentive waitstaff.

Just a great experience overall. The best aspect of the dinner was the service which started off with a warm greeting by the hostess and then wonderful service throughout our meal by Juan G. Very creative food options that tasted great and were plated very attractively. Two suggestions and one "alert." First, menu disclosures would be helpful for those with food allergies. Second, wines by the bottle and the glass are too expensive. Some more reasonably priced options would be nice. As for the alert, the place is very noisy. Might be worth scoping out the place and requesting a "quieter" part if you want to have a decent conversation. All in all really enjoyed ASA and will consider if when next in the area.

Great local gem, especially the seasonal Dungeness crab pasta is a dish we wish they had year-round! All their foods are high quality and fresh ingredients, has a great chef with great taste and amazing friendly staffs. High ceiling, great interior and lighting makes a nice comfy atmosphere.

My wife and I ate dinner at Asa tonight. What a joy it turned out to be from the moment we entered there for our reservation at 6:00 PM, which was followed by table-for-two assigned to us, then the appetizer, wine and the main meal. Everything was very high quality prepared impeccably well, and served in a timely and professional manner. Asa is arguably better than many similar tier restaurant in the general area that get high ratings.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at Asa. The Crab Toast Appetizer was fresh, unique and very tasty. A magnificent start to a great meal. Steak, Paella and Duck were each relished and praised highly. The service and ambiance were pleasantly festive. Desserts were a pleasure as well. Panna Cota and Chocolate Chip Cookies were savored. Five stars in every respect ?????

I’ve never given a review before, but our experience at ASA was so bizarre, I’d like to warn people about it. We had an “early bird” reservation for a very small local employee holiday gathering at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. We arrived at 5:15pm and asked if we could add an additional person to our reservation for three. We were told by the manager, Virginia, “Yes, but we will need that table at exactly 7:00pm.” We agreed, seeing as that gave us nearly two hours to eat. As we sat down and looked over the menu and ordered drinks we were once again visited by Virginia, reminding us that we could not stay longer than 7pm. We ordered one appetizer and two entrees and when our third person arrived at 5:45pm, we were badgered again that we would need to leave by 7:00pm. The third member of our party felt so awkward that she declined the option to order, so we proceeded to finish and pay so we could just leave. It was the strangest experience I think I’ve ever had dining in Los Altos, being treated so rudely while spending nearly $250 on dinner. On top of that, (and after apologizing for the managers behavior) it took an extra 15 minutes for our waitress to bring the receipt for our bill after we’d paid and it’s worth noting that even then, we still had an additional 15 minutes to spare before 7pm and several open tables surrounding us to boot. All of that is to say: ASA, your mushroom pasta is tasty, but your poor service will never be worth it.
