Came here for lunch but was disappointed. We ordered the OG baco and the patatas bravas. The patatas were good but the red sauce didn't have much flavor. The meat on the OG sandwiches was dry and under seasoned. The pics of the food looked amazing but it was underwhelming. The place has a very laid back vibe.

Great tasting hotdogs worth the price! I have nothing bad to say! My friend who loved spicy food said the Red dog was too spicy for comfort hahahaha even she couldn't handle it!

Good spicy chicken sandwich.Got the medium heat - not very spicy at all.I am a fan of heat so spicy stuff is no problem, next time I'll step it up a notch to see what's up.Fries are seasoned, tasty, crispy with a nice airiness to them. Didn't come with allot on my plate but whatever. Sauce on side was also good and flavorful with a lite tangy kick to it. Pickles slaw and sauce in sandwich was just perfect amount and nicely balanced. One prob I had was that the Hawaiian buns are not cut but I guess that ain't a problem If you have a knife to cut them into nice handheld size bites (3 slider size pieces).Overall I was very pleased and will return back.

Without a doubt, some of the most incredible food I have ever had in my life. I love the location of the restaurant in downtown LA. There is a small European town like feeling to it with the dim LED light displays and brick building architecture. When you walk into Baco Mercat, the ambiance is lively and happening and hip. We ordered the fig and prosciutto (which was nothing to write home about and very small), but the Baco Toron and Hamachi Crudo were out of this world - incredible flavors that I didn't know existed and blended in seamlessly together.

Really good! The food is super unique and so tasty. The portions are a little small, but it's a really solid place to grab lunch. Def worth a visit!

This place is so good!! I had the Cajun fried chicken, to die for.. The best I have ever had.. customer service was outstanding .. The music was 70's 80's & 90's.. I would recommend coming early .. I got there about 7:45am and it is very small inside ..

It was all right really. I was more impressed by their veggie dishes + the veggie coca which were all ordered by my friend lol. I got all the meaty dishes: Toron baco & pork belly bacon sausage w/ mushroom coca. I have oxtail here and there at home with a dish my mom makes very well. But the oxtail in their toron Baco was raw and mixed with spices & herbs that just didn't work for me. I don't know how some people recommend having a Baco AND coca in one sitting cuz I was pretty darn full after 3 slices of coca and a couple bites of my Baco.**----this review was a draft I forgot to post years ago. But so sad to hear them closing down now cuz of COVID. Dang you COVID!

We had an amazing meal of small plates here. Prawns, caramelized cauliflower, oxtail, and mushroom flatbread. Amazing flavors, beautiful presentation, excellent service. Looking forward to another visit.

Josef Centeno's Bäco Mercat is a "multi-culti" genre-bending restaurant that has been developed around a folded flatbread "sandwich" called a bäco (rhymes with taco). Like many great dishes, the bäco was formed by a chef experimenting with something quick to feed his fellow workers in the kitchen, not a dish meant to be served to customers. The original name of "bäco" was "global taco," which Centeno immediately scrapped in favor of "globaco," which he rightly thought to be even worse. Shortening the name again, and (as only a modern chef would do) garnishing it with a useless diacritic to denote something distinctly non-American, the "bäco" was so-named.If the puffy tacos at Bar Amá are Centeno's answer to Taco Bell's chalupas (I'm sure the resemblance is non-intentional, maybe), the bäcos at Bäco Mercat would be his answer to Taco Bell's gorditas. The soft, fluffy and nutty wheat-based flatbread is thick, dough-y, and as supple as any tortilla. It has a sweet and rich taste, like a nicely buttered baguette but without the chewy baguette texture. I ordered the "Toron Bäco," which the menu promised would be filled with an oxtail hash, cheddar potatoes, and a horseradish yogurt. The oxtail hash patty resembles a juicy hamburger, here dressed with bitter greens in a vinaigrette and musky, earthy pickles. The shredded straw-like potatoes are a combination of crispy and oily mixed with soft and silky, similar to rösti. This was a serious sandwich that most people wouldn't call a taco, but to deny the intent behind it could create difficult-to-meet expectations: this is not elevated dinner as much as it is elevated lunch served at dinnertime.
