I am happy to report 10 years later that Beard Papa's on Sawtelle is still great. I recently had Beard Papa's in Japan. The crispy, airy shell was on the same level. Only the vanilla filling was better in Japan. Price has climbed up to $4.25 for the plain shell, but I don't find that outrageous given the cost of the surrounding area. The employees were also kind. I enjoyed my Original puff filled with green tea cream. The pastry cream was balanced in sweetness, matcha flavor, and egginess. My boyfriend got the Cookie Crumble (white chocolate Oreo) shell with chocolate filling. I always thought the dipped shells were just okay. The taste does not justify the extra calories for me lol. While the chocolate filling improved, it tasted too much like chocolate pudding. So I'm still not a fan of standard chocolate (and probably vanilla) filling here.

This was a great place to grab something sweet. Daughter and I were in the plaza for an early dinner, and saw this "gem" and decided to take a look. The cream puffs were delicious! The cream wasn't too sweet, and loved the variety of flavored cream you can choose from. The vanilla is my favorite, and my daughter likes the chocolate. Will visit this place, when I'm in the area.

Not much to say, but Beard Papa is a great little cream puff pastry restaurant in a small shopping Center in the Sawtelle area. They have an assortment of difference types and flavors of the cream puff themselves and you can select between a cream filling or ice cream. We ended up going with the plain puff and ice cream filling, which was a large portion and delicious. The puff was airy with a toasty exterior. The other puff options are a little out there, but the variety of selections would make for a great treat for events. They have deals if you order a dozen or larger quantity orders and they even have a loyalty stamp card program for frequent visitors. The parking is a little chaotic, but it's a ticketed lot with an attendant and there is underground parking. I believe there's a $10 spend minimum for the parking to be validated, which I imagine isn't that hard at any of the stores located in the center. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. The only observation was that a lot of the indoor dining area was not set up when we went around midday. I don't know if this is typical, but we took our good to go, so it wasn't a big deal.

Sooooo YUM!!! This is the best cream puff in the world! I love cream puffs and can be very picky! I love the filling, the flavor and texture. These are big pieces so enjoy! Ordered: Strawberry, Chocolate, Green Tea, Cookies and Cream, OG Small spot, but you can eat these anywhere you fancy! Such a great gift to bring for gatherings and parties!

My favorite is the original or chocolate shell with vanilla custard fillings. I like to pay a little more for an extra pump of custard in each shell. The mini Sawtelle gets pretty packed during the weekends. They have main level & underground parkings for customers.

Not exactly the most lively individual that served me here. The cream puff itself was good, a little bit more dry and crumbly than I usually like. With that being said I got the Vietnamese coffee filling which I thought was excellent. You are able to customize them a little bit by choosing a shell and filling so they are filled to order.

LOVE THE CRÈME BRÛLÉE PUFF!! This is always a must bring dessert to family! A coworker hyped up these creme puffs and I was not disappointed! Can't go with the classic creme puffs or crème brûlée puff! The amount of times I've ordered since discovering this place is insane! Highly recommend this spot... only issue is finding parking on Sawtelle!

After passing by many times, we decided to try Beard Papa's. We got the mini puffs and the cheesecake stick. The puffs were pretty good, easy to eat and perfect portion of buttery and sweet. Cheesecake was average, but maybe other flavors are better. Definitely coming back to try again.
