prices are pretty high and the seating is weird. it seems like they planned more for aesthetics than function. i wouldn’t come here to work. coffee is okay.

Great drinks and the avocado toast with poached egg is my favorite. Olive is friendly and efficient.

The reviews on this place are proof if you make a place look pretty and put some decent trend foods on the menu (avocado toasts, sales, cute pastries), transplants in Hollywood will gobble that ish up and give it a high rating. As this establishment has COFFEE in the name and shares a neighborhood with some pretty heavy hitter coffee spots, you'd assume coffee is the star here. Of the 3 beverages I tried, the coffee was mediocre at best, even sweeter drinks that don't require good coffee to be good were astonishingly underwhelming. Maybe I came in on the wrong day but I'm sure the dead eyed, annoyed looking, singular barista working the store wasn't feeling too passionate while our drinks. Don't care to try the food, I came into the coffee shop for coffee and was disappointed. Love when a coffee shops food surprises me, but not when the coffee suffers for it. Plenty of great spots out there, don't settle for this one if you're looking for a specialty coffee experience.

Cafe close to the main Hollywood boulevard. Not super comfortable to sit. The food was good. I love the beautiful green wall. I was disappointed to have my yogurt/muesli in a plastic cup, it's not appetising for a cafe. Maybe the chef already left? Cafe and avocado toast was good.

Black Canvas Coffee offers the best iced lattes. I tried honey maple and blueberry latte and both tasted amazing. With every sip of coffee you can taste their high quality and clean ingredients. I'm so happy I was able to find this amazing coffee place. The pastries are also good. Their service is superb. Their baristas are also great at what they do and provide the best customer service. Also the decor of this place is amazing.

This looked like your typical higher end coffee shop but the pastries far exceeded my expectations, as did my flat white. Great service, too - quiet but polite, just what you want on a calm morning while sipping away. I'll be back!

Never again. I'm pregnant and I bought the fruit bow with a bunch of mold on the fruits.

I went for a latte but decided I wanted a light breakfast. Couldn't choose between the yogurt or açaí bowl. The barista said to get the açaí bowl & great choice!!! It was fresh & enough I think for 2 people to share but it was sooo good I ate the entire bowl price isn't to bad for the size plus the coffee shop is a nice vibe with plants & ambiance! Wi-Fi if you want to sit & work.I think I found a getaway for the weekend

I came to this to place to meet a friend for coffee who lives just above it. This is my first time here and I drove pretty far. I had to use the restroom so before I ordered food and drinks I went straight there. There was a keypad lock (totally understandable this area has a homeless problem) but I definitely did not fit the description. I asked a young man with red hair and a mustache for the code and told him I was ordering and without looking up he said "the code is on the bottom of your receipt..". I thought that was a bit weird because he was the only employee behind the register so he knew I didn't have a receipt yet. A simple "Hi, restrooms are for customers only would you mind ordering first?". Or even a sign would have been nice. Needless to say I purchased a water, left, and had my friend meet me somewhere else. I'm sure there beverages are great as it smelled good, but I didn't feel welcomed.

I love checking out coffee shops. it’s my thing. i loved the good and coffee at Blavk Canvas. i ordered an oat milk honey latte and a breakfast bagel.both were outstanding. in fact, the breakfast bagel was too hot to eat for a few minutes and the coffee…. smooth as silk!i’ll be back tomorrow.Parking: do hard to find parking anywhere in hollywood. very important to me. this place has free retail parking - 5 out of 5 on everything

Skip the Matcha Rose Latte and get their Blueberry Maple Latte. It's a divine latte creation. If you're hungry, you could also share breakfast albeit a little pricy. The first time we came, we wanted a mini breakfast to hold us down until lunch and ordered a prosciutto and goat cheese toast and an avocado toast. Expecting nyc portions, we were happily surprised by how hefty the toast portions were and understood the price tag that came with them. Not only did they give generous portions, the toasts were tasty. I think the only thing that threw us off was that the poached egg was given in a separate bowl and not on top of the avocado toast. The poached egg was also a little overcooked so we wish we did without it.The best part of breakfast, as mentioned above, is the blueberry maple latte. Whether it's hot or iced, it still tastes amazing and you can definitely taste the blueberry. The rose matcha latte tasted like watered down matcha with too much rose syrup. I've had some great rose matcha lattes and this one did not impress.Aside from food and drink, the ambiance is chill and relaxed. The workers are friendly and there are multiple tables to sit both inside and outside the cafe. It's definitely a place where you can sit down and get some work done.I wish I could steal the blueberry maple latte recipe because it was really that good and probably the main reason I want to come back. Excuse me while I try to find a good blueberry maple latte in the jungle of specialty lattes offered in nyc. If my search fails, I'll need to find my way back just for the latte.
