I'm not sure this place is open anymore. I went once and loved it, but the last two times, they were closed during their posted hours.

Terrible customer service. Got our order completely wrong. No apology when we got there for wasting our time, gas and dinner. Only rushed us to get out. The owner/manager was the rudest one and just wanted us gone because he wanted to close early. At least we got our refund.

Good sushi and gyoza. Dining in is not to recommend if you don't prefer to eat from take away plates, get your soy sauce in condiment package. Even cups are in styrofoam. Not good for the environment and doesn't enrich your experience. Cardboard boxes with take away mugs/plates are stacked around in the small restaurant. Probably better for takeaway. But good flavors and nice presented (even on plastic take away trays).

Edit - No more Yummy Crisp. Still on the menu ? There goes that 5 star.... ( Original review)-This place is great! I usually get two orders of yummy crispy / crunchy. Its an appetizer that I treat as a meal. I absolutely love the texture when biting into the tuna/tomato mix on the super crunchy chips. You should try it! They look at me funny when its the only thing I order. Sushi is always fresh. I enjoy my miso soup with bits of seaweed. I can walk out full for under 25 bucks, which is rare for a sushi shop. Enjoyable staff and chefs make for a pleasant dining experience.Thank you and Matane!

Food is decent ! However service is pretty bad, I'm never one to write reviews but seriously, I've never felt more awful I get people dislike their jobs but don't take it out on people just tryna get something to eat. We walked in and the small dining area was full, that's ok if there's no seats we can get it to go. As soon as we walked in no greeting just "is it to go?". She had no line and my sister just asked what the difference between 2 items were and she grabs a menu and just points at it annoyed. Terrible service I'm def not coming here again. Was not worth almost 60 bucks just the get ok food and terrible service.

Used to be much more affordable and generous. However now it's getting a little tired and expensive. I used to like all the different rolls at very reasonable prices. I mean, it's still better priced than other fancy sushi places

I'm local and this is one of the sushi places I frequent. After Covid, I just order takeout usually by phone. Waiting can take around 15 mins or more depending on what you order. I get my usual sushi with miso soup. I've always received my orders fresh, good service, and I've never found hair on any of my orders. It's not a fancy place but the sushi is pretty good and I'm picky about sushi.

Service was great and food came fast. However, the rolls were falling apart and it even cold.

We were in the area trying to go to Best Buy as this is in the same general area. There was a power outage towards the back of the property, so a Best Buy visit wasnt in play. We knew California Roll & Sushi was there and since Japanese food was always a good idea, we decided to order for some take-out. I went with the roll & beef teriyaki combination ($13.95) and the lady got the roll & chicken teri combo ($13.50). They both come with a side salad, rice, teriyaki and we chose california rolls. We also got a caterpillar roll ($13.50) which is fresh water eel, cucumber topped with avocado. My combo was decent. The california rolls had a very good ratio of imitation crab and avocado to them. Generous on the crab side which was good. Tasted fresh as its obviously made to order. The beef teriyaki was just ok. The meat was in smaller pieces than I would like. So it was more work with the chopsticks to clean off my bento box but it was fine. I just prefer bigger cuts of the already thin slices of beef. Good flavor and the teri sauce was on the side which was good, as this was a take-out order. The lady thought her chicken teri combo was just ok as well. The caterpillar roll was good. Not something I would usually order but i do love me some eel. Inside the roll, for those that havent had it, is the eel and the cucumber. They were a bit light on the eel portioning which was a bummer for me. They were heavy on the avocado layering on top the roll. I dont know if they just were running low on eel but the portioning left me wanting more for sure. In turn, the avocado is what you mostly taste out of this roll, as there was much more of it compared to the eel. That's too bad. Service was great. Friendly young lady at the counter. We actually went next door to Starbucks after placing our order. She had said our food would be ready in 15 mins. When we got out of Starbucks 6-10 mins later, she was standing by her door with our food packed and ready to go. That was nice. Quick friendly service is always appreciated. Plenty of shared parking out front. Located in Atwater Village right between Panda Express and Starbucks in the plaza where Costco & Best Buy are.

I came here one day craving seafood and finally decided on the Salmon Skin Poke along with Ponzu sauce. It was a nice and refreshing lunch that I had after a long workout. I felt like I needed a meal that was filling, but healthy at the same time, so this bowl had a little bit of both aspects. The seafood was crispy and yummy and it was nice to mix it with the other toppings including the rice. It was totally affordable and I was able to finish my entire meal in that one sitting. The service was great and there was no issue looking for parking. I am glad I came here right after practice!

I've tried the sushi, sashimi, tempura, and udon from this shop over the course of multiple visits. My dad is a huge fan of this shop but I honestly am a bit ambivalent towards most of the menu. I will say that I do enjoy the udon (basic udon) soup with a side of edamame (green soy beans). If I'm looking for a lazy end of the workday dinner, the udon hits the spot with the edamame as a nice side dish. The soup isn't even really that amazing either but it's consistently ok, sufficiently filling, and hits the spot for a reasonable price. I think the one thing I can say is that California Roll and Sushi will always be reliably average -- and sometimes that kind of reliability is all one needs after a long day at work.

Don't let the size of this place fool you, not much dine-in space but the sushi is delicious!
