Beautiful place. Great vibe and ambiance. Great drinks. But unacceptable customer service.I got there early to meet a friend, it was half empty when I arrived. We picked a communal spot. By the time my friend arrived it began to get packed. Fast forward about 30 minutes and we're asked to move (due to an unmarked reservation), but the only spots left (now that it's packed) are the low bar and another low communal spot. Basically put me in a position where me and my friend had to leave - I'm too tall to sit comfortably at a low bar.Didn't feel welcomed and the business clearly didn't think it was worth keeping me there.I think it's the most dismissed I've ever felt at a bar. Maybe I didn't fit the vibe? We're at Bolita now, on Virgil. Similar ambiance, great drinks, and they would never do something like that.EDIT: I really appreciate the venue's response below. And will consider returning ??

Almost don't wanna review so it could be our little secret ;) But it's such a classic vibe, this speakeasy wants you to know that glamor ain't easy, it takes a lot of attentiveness and spirit. Cocktails are fire and if you needed any more reasons, it's owned by cool Filipino women! Ayyy

A swell joint. Stopped here in passing and it's pretty sensational. It feels like one of the bars on the Titanic. You can write some good poetry here and it's some of the world's best Lemonade. From Frank at the door to Everyone else, the whole staff was really sweet. It was a really great experience coming here. 10/10. If you dig gin, this is your spot.

Genever has an awesome cozy atmosphere. If you're looking for something Instagramy -- this fits the bill. I stopped by on a Sunday evening and the place was completely empty. I ordered the "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark" -- Kikori whisky, peat monster scotch, honey, angostura + orange bitters, and it was a nice twist on your classic Old Fashioned. Drinks here are pretty stiff. If you're stuck between a few drink options as I was, feel free to ask the bartender to go into more details on the drink or ask for their recommendation: they are more than happy to talk you through your options! If I wasn't planning on stopping by another bar afterwards, I definitely would have gotten another drink here. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. Do note that parking in the area can be pretty difficult.

Happy Hour (6-8pm daily) $8 cocktails, wine $5 beer. What more can I say? Cocktails were on point. Staff were professional. Music was groovy. Chill crowd. Good vibe. They landed on the North America's 50 Best Bars list. Genever is one of the only three bars from LA.I had Presko, daily gimlet, refreshingly fruity for the start. Medya-Medya: boozy martini, just the way I like. New Bimini Place, a complex sweet and sour drink that don't taste boozy but I know it's the drink that will take me to another dimension. Sip. Sip.

I visited Genever last night with my husband and we loved it and can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the cocktails on the menu! All our cocktails had complex and unusual flavors but well-balanced, and best of all they tasted amazing! Our server and the ambience of the place were also wonderful!

Amazing bartenders, Grant was the most handsome, hospitable, professional bartender I've seen in the industry. Great recommendations like the banana hammock & I don't remember the other cocktails names , but An awesome bar experience. Perfect for date night or for a dude just enjoying drink at the bar. Will be back!! 11/10 highly recommend. Thank you Grant. Cheers.

Great little cocktail bar in Filipino Town. Inside is tastefully decored and intimate. Has an art deco vibe. Decent amount of seating. A great place for a date or small groups. The cocktails are delicious. Can definitely recommend the Banana Hammock and Dude in Hifi. They also have a few happy hour specials from 6-8.Service was great. Friendly staff. There's street parking but it fills up fast, you might have to walk a block or two.

It's a hip new spot! They have subtle entrance with a small sign outside the door so you have to be looking for it. I love this place. The staff is friendly and upbeat and they offer little corn like snacks to munch on. I forgot what they're called but they're delicious! They also have a nice selection of nonalcoholic drinks and for food, they offer yummy egg sandwich!

Oh Genever, how I love thee, let me count the ways: 1 the atmosphere is chill, 2 the cocktails are fire, 3 unlimited Boy Bawang (IYKYK), 4 definitely an Insta worthy spot, 5 the mixologists are super friendly, 6 the interior is gorgeous... I could go on and on and on. The first time I came I said to my self, I'll only have one drink, and you can bet that that did not happen as what had happened was that I had a little sampling of one section of the menu and then another and another. I've never, repeat NEVER, had a drink here that I didn't love. Fish sauce in my cocktail? Absolutely, in Genever I trust! Bonus: Aways happy to support an AAPI women run bar.
