Hello,I visited Genwa last week and when it came time to pay, I gave $60 cash and the bill was $120. I asked them to use the $60 and charge my card the remaining $60.They took the $60 and charged my card $120.I noticed and the waitress claimed not to speak English. I then told the manager who laughed at it.They then did it correctly. They tried to steal and scam me.

Update: it's alright. The food was alright, the service was fine, the atmosphere was benign , But something is just sort of...less than awesome. I think it was the total lack of drunk and rowdy Korean college kids? Maybe it's that it wasn't in a seedy strip mall? It was a good place to bring a lot of people, I guess, but it's not really the highest possible Korean barbecue experience. I don't need to go back. I wasn't exactly disappointed. There was meat and alcohol and a grill in the middle of the table, no denying that, no denying that, but as a foodie and cultural experience, I think you ought to keep searching. Remember, three stars means "It's OK"Parking: Valet only

We've been here a total of three times. The first time we went there, the service and food was amazing. The second time, it was okay. This last time, the food was not that great. The service staff was marvelous, the exhaust fans needed to be repaired, but the quality of food needs some improvement.

Great atmosphere and service! The food was good and portion size, while not overly generous, was sufficient for lunch. I will admit to not being a Korean BBQ connoisseur, so take my opinions with a grain of salt. The salad dressing they use was fantastic, the broth soup was quite flavorful, and my main course (chicken bulgogi) was good. The only reason I give the food a 4 rather than a 5 is that I enjoyed the salad, soup, and assortment of banchan more than the main course. The menu is pretty expensive, but Korean BBQ is a bit of an experience rather than just a meal.

Let's start with the positives. There is valet parking for $5. The ambiance and service is really good. The staff is super attentive and kind. The negatives were the food. We had the M1 for $165 and it wasn't flavorful. The best part of the food was the free sides you get but even then those portions are really small. It got very loud even though the restaurant was not full. They also charge for the rice. Overall not the best experience.

The food was excellent, service could have been better, although they did a good job of refilling water glasses, we were never offered refills of iced tea and never saw our regular waitress to order drinks after the first round. One of the dishes that we ordered did not come out with all of the others, we pointed it out to one of the wait staff who said that dish took longer to prepare (which it should not it is a common dish made with rice cakes no protein and often served as an appetizer). Even after asking it took them another 20-30 min to bring it out, after everyone had finished their entree

Valet parking is $5 and right next to the restaurant, which makes arriving there easy. Food was tasty, but a bit on the pricey side for the quantity of meat per combo and/or side. They do offer a lot of different sides with your order, which is nice. The only complaint was that the seating was really tight near other tables, and those parties were obnoxiously loud even though people were inches apart. Staff was friendly and attentive throughout.

High quality meat, cooked for you at table side. Quite tasty. Drawback is the price, which in turn probably turns customers away, so restaurant fairly empty, thus atmosphere was less fun. Agree with others, great ventilation.

I've recently relocated to upstate NY, after being an “Angeleno” for over 40 yrs. Had dinner at Genwa while visiting my daughter during the winter holidays. The meal was phenomenal! To quote my daughter, “10's all around!”

Came here on a weekday and was soooo excited because I was visiting LA for a week and I ALWAYS stop by Genwa for a delicious meal. I’m not sure if management changed but the whole vibe was so different since I last came in 2021. They didn’t have rice paper and honestly, that’s almost the only reason I love dining at genwa. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. It was only 7:30pm and they close at 10pm so I don’t understand how they ran out of rice paper so early considering there were only 2-3 tables when we walked in. We ordered galbi (meat was so tender, it’s a must order), bulgogi & Doenjang-jjigae (skip it), spicy rice cake (very spicy for me but my friends loved it), cheese corn (yummy). I wished I just ordered two galbi but nonetheless, the service was so mediocre. I will not be coming back to any Genwa locations anymore, it was such an underwhelming experience and I feel so bad hyping it up to both my friends that traveled from santa monica all the way here.

The pork was just a disaster, the chicken tasted pretty nice but for its price it’s also a disaster and then beef was also a horrendous mess for its price. Overall you can get a better food taste and much cheaper meal if you go to a cheap bbq literally
