Customer: could I have a sample?Young disinterested employee: no, not right now…. (metal cup full of clean spoons to sample behind her)Me: went somewhere else to enJOY a cup of gelato.

I wanted something refreshing to drink. I saw a sign that said to try that fresh squeezed lemonade. The nice woman working was swamped making homemade sodas then apologized for no reason. The lemonade really hit the spot. I’m sad I didn’t try any of the ice creams.

Family-owned, unique flavors, best ice cream I’ve ever had. Don’t miss trying it! In itself it’s worth a trip to the old farmer’s market.

Visited Local Ice for the first time during the holidays. Well worth the traffic and the crowd. They are perfectly located next to several tables. The service was almost too good, being asked by three of rhetorical four employees if I needed anything else as I waited for my 2 "make your own sundaes." It was a great reprieve from the insane holiday traffic that we had to sadly get back into to go home.

This is my go-to spot for ice cream when I'm in the area. Not only is the food great, but all of the employees are super upbeat and cool. If you're there, ask for Luca. He makes great conversation and seems to really know what he's doing when it comes to recommending items. Hoping to run into him again next time!

Maybe I came on a really off day for them. That is totally possible. Their neon sign wasn’t on when we walked up even though they were open so maybe it was just that kind of day? The customer service was mediocre. The classic sunday that I got did not have hardly any hot fudge and the hot fudge wasn’t hot at all. I also got a NY egg cream and that was equally unimpressive. My husband’s chocolate malted shake was also extremely malty, almost as if they were trying to cover up something, but most likely the trio of young people working there were likely inexperienced at this job. Understandable considering the times and circumstances under which we live, but on this particular day I wish I had spent my money on the nearby ice cream shop that we passed just to come to this place. Hopefully if you come here you have a better experience.

Afogato was on point. Perhaps the best I have had in years. $6 was a bit steep but comparable offering at the farmers market I felt I spent it well.

Good service. Very clear and gentle taste, freshly made GELATO. I liked Chocolate Mint very much.

Delicious flavors. Just a little pricey for ice cream, but that wouldn't stop me from coming back.

After all the IG ads, I finally came here and am happy I did! Great and friendly customer service, delicious high-end ice cream and Italian ice all at a reasonable price!Local Ice has been around for years and is located in the south end of the Original Farmers Market, closer to Pasta Corner, the butcher and around the corner of Michelin bakery. It is more than just an ice cream stand but a soda fountain shop, something that is pretty few and far between in Los Angeles. Not only can you get ice cream and delicious Italian ice but they also have a full coffee and espresso menu and list of sodas. Seating is ample as there are many surrounding tables that has cover or umbrellas for shade. The person who helped us was friendly and engaging. We were allowed to sample some of the flavors before ordering. My sister and her daughter ordered the cookie monster which was chockfull of cookie bits. The ice cream is high quality and creamy. It is handmade and there is no taste of any preservatives or chemicals. It's simply good quality handmade ice cream. I don't understand the comments saying that this is expensive ice cream. The prices are comparable to other artisanal ice cream shops.I ordered the watermelon ice (what I saw in an Instagram ad) and it was just PERFECT! Ice is shaved so fine that it almost has a creamy texture, but there is no dairy!I would definitely come back, especially knowing that I can order espresso without walking away.

$7 for a single cup of icecream. The strawberry icecream contained frozen crystal and tasted like it was at least a week old. The lady behind the counter was so unpleasant she literally thumped our icecream down after she scooped it and didn't acknowledge us. We also asked for Strawberry/Vanilla, and she just scooped Strawberry. Such an overall unpleasant experience!
