The cafe had a homey charm, when my husband and I walked in it did smell a bit musty but I figure food is usually better in a mom-and-pop kind of place. We sat down to order from the menu and we ordered from the "early bird specials" a plate w/pancakes + 2 eggs + bacon and another egg scramble w/bacon, onions, avocados + country potatoes + toast. The food was good, I think it the scramble was called the "california scramble" and it was tasty, very flavorful. The hot cakes plate with eggs was standard breakfast diner food, still satisfied. I had to knock down points because the waitress is SO MEAN!!!! I don't know what he deal is but it almost seems like she hates all kind of life...my husband had a question about an item on the early bird special menu and instead of answering his question she says "You have 15 minutes to order from the early bird menu"....the rudeness was completely unnecessary. When it came time for the bill, she charged each of our plates TWICE! The total was supposed to be around $32 and she charged $55...we told her about the error and again more attitude as if it was our fault. I have never had more of an urge in my life to dine and dash (never have or will but you understand the anger)...I was so frustrated with her. Not worth the food if the service is so poor tbh, there's plenty of great places in the area that appreciate your business, I recommend folks take it elsewhere.

Amazing service! From the moment I walked in the host was very welcoming, my server Jas was in top of everything refills, ketchup, salsa, hot sauce and syrup without having to ask. French toast is not to be missed, sausage patty perfection. The chilaquiles looked incredible. I'm going to have to get them on my next visit.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast before heading to the beach. It's a small place and was busy when we got there but thankfully there was a table available. Staff was busy and wore many hats but still managed to keep up with everything. I ordered the Cali scramble with ham and hash browns. The hubby got the breakfast burrito and a fruit bowl. The food came out quickly. I loved my meal. Perfect amount of ingredients in the scramble. The homemade jam for the toast was sooooo good. On the menu the burrito was supposed to have onion and green peppers. However it didn't come like that. The fruit bowl also didn't come with what it said it did on the menu. He got up to double check the menu because he thought maybe he was wrong. The waitress came over to ask him if everything was ok and she acknowledged that the menu isn't correct for some items. Knowing this it would be nice if they told customers at the time they are ordering. we were on a bit of a time crunch so he ate what he got, and it was good he said, he just wished they said something while he was ordering because he probably would have ordered differently. I took a star off for that.

Had the Biscuits and gravy plate today and it was so good. Also the serving sizes are huge! Very much worth the price. My gf got Chilaquiles and the plate was a lot bigger than we expected. 2 people can probably share it and its so good. Good experience with the waitress as well.

One word: soup Try the split pea or clam chowder. You can't go wrong. Plus, the portion size is giant, so it's good for two meals.

Small and very cozy, friendly service and tasty food. Can't go wrong with menu. Try the bread pudding, a must go to for desert.

Ah, the Rock'n Egg Cafe in the charming enclave of Eagle Rock! A culinary oasis where the sun-kissed yolks of destiny collide with the sizzling symphony of bacon. My dear, let us embark on this gastronomic odyssey, shall we? Picture it: a quaint morning, the air thick with anticipation, and the cafe door creaking open like the entrance to a hidden treasure trove. The ambiance--reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, if Paris were nestled in the foothills of Los Angeles. I, too, once graced the hallowed halls of the Rock'n Egg Cafe, my taste buds aflutter with anticipation. The menu, a parchment of possibilities, unfurled before me. And there it was--the jalapeño bacon and eggs, a dish that promised both heat and comfort. The jalapeños, like fiery confidantes, whispered secrets to the eggs, and the bacon--oh, the bacon!--crisped to perfection, its salty embrace a revelation. Across the table, my dear friend embarked on a different voyage--a breakfast burrito! Wrapped in a warm tortilla, it held within its folds the hopes and dreams of a thousand sunrises. The eggs, scrambled like Shakespearean sonnets, danced with chorizo, peppers, and cheese. Each bite, a stanza of morning poetry. And the coffee! Ah, the elixir of life. It flowed like molten gold, awakening dormant senses and inspiring soliloquies. The servers, like celestial beings, glided between tables, their smiles as radiant as the morning sun.

Nick's Cafe! Rock' n Egg Cafe is the sister restaurant/diner to Nick's Cafe that's been opened since 1948! The same Nick's Cafe on the outskirts of LA's Chinatown. Yay! I got their specialty "famous ham & eggs" combo and that thing was HUGE! Definitely enough for two people! Pancakes were fluffy and delicious too! Don't forget the house made salsa - a must. The menu here has many options for breakfast and lunch. All-American with Mexican inspired fare with a modern twist would be how I described the menu here. I dig it! Staff and owner are friendly down to earth people. Ambiance is cozy. Parking: Street Only. Payment: Cash and Credit accepted.
