Worst service ever. The male waiter was good but the old lady needs to be fired.

Hole in the wall, real deal Armenian fermented meat shop. All beef hand made meats, similar to pastrami but not quite, I had the basturma sandwich to go served by 2 lovely gentlemen at the cashier who prepared and toasted my sandwich. Would recommend as an authentic experience

This is still the place for the best basturma ... after Shag retired, it kind of went a little down, it used to be amazing!!!! Now, good, really good. You can have the sandwich there or take it with you and enjoy at home...

This is definitely the best Basturma and Soujouk sandwich shop around, and there's a lot of history behind it. Service is great, it's a family owned business led by a husband and wife team. Charming and old-school atmosphere inside, it's a small local shop with a lot of Armenian and Mediterranean products and one long table in the middle. Always looking forward to coming back here for a Basturma sandwich!

I am Turkish and we eat basturma all the time. This is by far the best basturma I ate in my life. We drive 4 hours to get here and it is worth it. The owners are wonderful people, me and my husband loved them at first sight. God bless Turkish Armenian friendship. Come and try everything in this store, you wont regret it!

Truly a mom and pop authentic experience. First time having Armenian food and really got a taste of the spices. The sandwich was just okay to be honest and the chi keofte was amazing!

After watching Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown, I paid Sahags Basturma Sandwich Shop a visit. While I have read that the Basturma is good (it's in the name of the store), I have always come for the Che Keofte. Despite the cons I've listed below, I do not know of any other place that serves Che Keofte as good as the one at Sahag's so it is safe to say that I will be coming back for more in the future. MY ORDER: x1 Che Keofte Plate CHE KEOFTE: (I think it is currently $11.99/lb) Made from bulgur, raw beef, paprika, onion, parsley, cumin, tomato paste, salt and pepper, this is the first and the finest Armenian Che Keofte I've had in L.A. When I went to Carousel, I got something that just tasted bland in comparison. This Che Keofte was mildly spicy, slightly acidic, well seasoned and incredibly addictive. The bulgur adds a fantastic pop of texture too. ENVIRONMENT: a very small hole-in-the-wall vibe deli store specializing in cured meats. You'll find other Armenian products being sold in the store as well. There are tables and chairs in the middle of the store should you wish to sit CONS: - the price has been continually increasing over the past 2 years by a few dollars /lb - you may not find cheery customer service here, but speaking fluent Armenian may alleviate that -the image on their menu shows a plated of Che Keofte, Lavash bread and pickled vegetables. However when I asked about the bread, the owner told me there was no Lavash bread on the side and that the bread was ground up into the Chek Keofte...so keep that in mind before you buy - the last time I went, they forgot the pickled veggies so make sure you check TIPS: - minimum Che Keofte purchase is 1lb - after buying my Che Keofte, I head across the street to Goldstar Bakery for delicious Armenian bread to eat with it - there is a small parking lot
