Great small room to see live jazz - civilized, relaxing space right at LAX. A good option if you have a layover or long delay. If it's live, get there a bit early to get the best seats, though even in the back it sounds great and there's enough view. Parking is easy. Good options for N/A drinks.

Was at a convention at a nearby hotel and stopped in on a whim. The service was friendly and laid back and the music was phenomenal.

I love this place. One of the best kept secrets. Cool room. Great place to see live music. A hidden gem of a jazz bar!

This club is amazing. It’s like being in your friends living room, or at a friends private party. The customers are real jazz aficionados, which makes for a very cool vibe. The service is laid-back so if you’re a New Yorker, you might be a little put off by the lack of hustle. But nonetheless, they are very attentive and friendly. It’s a great club. If you’re ever in LA I highly recommend going to this club if you love jazz. Hidden gem!

If you love jazz, this is the place for you. There is no talking during the performance, so it's not a bar with jazz, it's a jazz venue that has a bar. People are friendly and it's super comfortable to go alone.

This is a small, intimate place. They serve small plates and drinks. The musicians are right close with the guests. Seating is comfortable, like a living room. The set (one of two) is about 90 minutes. The sound quality is just right.Parking: This venue had 8 free parking spots.

If you’re close by the airport and have the time, Sam First is a must see! Great jazz bar in LA. Overpriced drinks and okay service, but it’s all about the music. We saw Grammy nominated vocalist Sara Gazarek who said Sam First is the place other artists come to hear jazz. It’s a very intimate experience that brings out the best of the genre. The interior is vibrant and the acoustics are well done. Shows have a first and a second set, though the bar itself closes relatively early after the show ends. There’s a tiny parking lot with a few spots reserved near the back, and there are metered and garage spots nearby. You can buy tickets online or at the door. On the pricey side, easily $50+ with your ticket and a drink. But so worth the quality, the music is fluid and full of life, an absolute joy to the senses. Very talented and personable artists. Highly recommend!
