Big main menus, well chosen list of specialities for the day - let's us to explore and enjoy well done variety of Japanese food. Great quality, well done presentation and great service! Sam and Polina.

We don't come often since we live in Santa Clarita but since it was my 71st birthday I had to bring my family to the best Sushi I've ever had. Just amazing food and service.

Unfortunate

I've been to this restaurant many times and, unfortunately, the service continues to get worse. Extremely slow and confused. Drinks arriving slow, or not at all - food arriving slow and without explanation. Either need more staffing, or better organization.

2 stars JUST for the salmon sashimi that was pretty good. overall the food is very mid tasting. the spicy tuna was not good. it smelled and tasted waaay too fishy. the workers are rude ?

The food is terrific, the welcoming and service not so much. No smile when you walk in the door, and the plates are never paced so that you are still sipping miso soup at a good pace but the tempura is dropped, anyway. Had to request a slow down, which was well-handled, but the server should know how to pace the dishes. No thank you on the way out - felt rushed and at this price point, not a comfy Saturday night.

When you come to Shu, you must not be in any hurry. It took a very long time to get all of our food. The food itself was very good, it just took time to get delivered to us and it was brought piece meal. Some of us were finished before others received their food.

Since I live so close to the sushi restaurant, I eat here at least once a week. I would have to say that this is one of the best sushi restaurants in Southern California. I find it ironic that nobody's ever heard of this place.

Other than the fact they were out of a couple items, the food was amazing. Maya, our server, was great. She recommended so many great fisher and really made our experience hospitable.

Celebrated my birthday at SHU Sushi House Unico, and here's the scoop. We reserved a table on OpenTable, looking forward to a memorable celebration. However, there were a few hiccups. Not only did they cancel my OpenTable reservation, but there was also no mention or offer of a complimentary dessert for my birthday, despite my boyfriend informing the waiter about the occasion. Now, onto the food - it had its moments. The truffle pasta stood out, albeit a bit heavy on the cream, and priced at $57 for a small portion. Other sushi dishes were just okay, with the sashimi being a highlight. Fortunately, my boyfriend and I had eaten beforehand, so we weren't left hungry. While SHU Sushi House Unico is worth a try, particularly for the truffle pasta, the oversight on the birthday celebration and the reservation cancellation were notable downsides. If you're in the mood for top-notch sushi and a smoother celebratory experience, you might want to explore other options. The mixed experience encountered during our visit leaves me hesitant to assign a specific rating, as it had both positive and negative aspects. Additionally, note that the restaurant is small and can get crowded quickly, impacting the overall ambiance. This might be something to consider when planning your visit.

SHU Sushi Unico had highs and lows. Truffle pasta shone, but birthday celebration oversight and reservation issues were disappointments. Consider alternatives; small venue gets crowded.

We are local and have been going there for past 7-8 years. Unfortunately the food quality has gone down so as the atmosphere. We stop going there for now.

A gem in the area if you're looking for high quality sushi and sashimi. The chefs know what they're doing. On the pricier side if you care only about standard rolls. But totally worth it if you enjoy special pieces like new Zealand salmon with truffle, fresh Japanese scallops with caviar etc.

The host keep u waiting for hours and won't seat you , means after waiting for more than couple hours for ur dinner , you go home hungry ! it's a very low level of hospitality

I've lived in the Hills for many years & never knew the neighborhood gem existed. The food is as good as the Michelin star sushi, restaurants on Ventura Boulevard or the iconic ones in West Hollywood. Chef's kiss

My favorite sushi spot in LA. Tucked in Bel Air. Very safe. Free parking in front and back. I live close by, super convenient! Amazing sushi. Melts in your mouth like butter. Met my friend here last night for her first time (my 350754 time!) at 7pm, and she loved it! The restaurant was not too busy. Honestly I was afraid it would be crowded and noisy last night as it usually is Monday night, but it was perfect. We were not disappointed. Service always outstanding! Servers are very friendly. Relatively quick service. Before we ordered food, the asked for our drink orders. Since it was chilly, and I was feeling a bit under the weather I ordered a hot chamomile tea. My friend ordered an earl grey. And they brought us some salted edamame to start. For food we ordered a few different things: started with risotto appetizers (crispy rice with the spicy tuna on top) - it is always delicious! (Not too spicy!). also ordered popcorn shrimp - (buttery and delicious, especially love the sauce they add on top!), my all time fave yellowtail scallion cut roll (so freaking good!) always recommend (hand roll also great!), and we did not order desert because we both got full, and left very satisfied. Definitely recommend SHU!!
