The shop carries lots of other goods that are fun and match the high vibes of the desserts. Owned and operated by the loveliest family. Everyone should pay a visit and support this beautiful gem.Street parking was easy. Resisting the urge to buy everything, on the other hand, was not.

Any and every celebratory gathering needs a cake from here! Head Wizard, Stephen McCarty creates honest-to-goodness MAGICK! Truly delectable works of art made with boundless amounts of LOVE & IMAGINATION. Colorful, soulful, and so incredibly delicious! Ordering through their website is super convenient and visiting their shop is always a memorable experience. The loveliest people ever. They also stock the most thoughtfully curated and unique gifts: rare books, incense, chimes, accessories, clothes, bags, candles, greeting cards, and specialty pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. Solar Return is a wonderful small business that sells some cute knick knacks and natural treats. I've had it bookmarked for months and was finally able to visit with a friend. We enjoyed the cute treats! The space is small but they had a lot of spooky (and non-spooky) looking treats on display when we went on 10/30. The treats were distinct and fantastic. I can't quite pin down the taste but it was natural and kind of fruity. My friend loved the mango vanilla one the most. The prices are fair considering you're paying for a handmade work of art! Not to mention most ingredients are organic and the colors made from natural sources. Service was great too! The person helping us was very attentive and friendly. Parking was bit of a challenge but street parking was available. Though they usually aren't open on Sun ~ Tue, be sure to check on their social! Luckily, I was able to take my friend on a Monday thanks to Halloween falling on Tuesday. Solar Return did not disappoint expectations, and I'm so glad to know this unique little shop exists. Support your local small businesses and come get a treat here! :)

On my solar return (birthday) I decided there is no better place to go, than to adventure to the original Solar Return shop on Sunset Boulevard. The exterior has a supercharged rainbow patterned stained glass window. One side of the shop harbors a bookcase enshrined with many esoteric, mystic, yogic, and magical books; there are candles, felted mushrooms, copal incense, with an array of delicacies delighting the eye. Be sure to indulge in your tasty treats as soon as you purchase any vegan, gluten-free food items from the case, as they tend to melt quite quickly. A return is definitely planned to celebrate another day at Solar Return.

I recently hosted a dinner party and one of the guests was vegan, so I turned to the experts. I'm not a vegan and am generally not a fan of vegan desserts (the treats at the recently shuttered Leberry in Pasadena looked the part but tasted like a chore). I also am not a cheesecake fan--I often find them too rich and cloying. It says something then that the vegan cheesecakes at Solar Return are the only cheesecakes I actually crave. First, they look like works of art: our pastel assortment of mini- and personal cheesecakes were so intricate and beautiful our guests weren't sure whether to dig in or take a picture (they did both). The texture of the cake is light, and the flavors are bright and assertive. The result is a confection that manages to be both a revelation and comfort food at its finest.
