Thought we would catch some drinks before a show and decided to try this place out. The aura of a pirate ship is cool but the rest of the place is a dump. I have been to dive bars and this place is a dump. Ordered one beer each for us three and the beer was super flat and the price of ten dollars for a glass is way over priced. It's cheaper on the beach in Newport. Anyways the best part was the bartender. She was absolutely fabulous and very nice. However we will not return here.

The smell of rancid cooking oil permeates the air here. Tables feel tacky. Pirate stuff is cute, but I wouldn't eat food here or stay very long due to the smell. It's sad because it could be so great, but if you have a working sense of smell and/or you're familiar with the very specific and unmistakable scent of rancid cooking oil, you'll be put off. Hopefully it was a once off bad afternoon and it isn't like this all the time, but looking at the photos people have shared of the food it's alarming.

Shortage of bartenders, no food but great atmosphere and especially music by the Firkins Glimmwrs Stars and Ronnie Quid!

On a little jaunt through downtown Los Angeles, the treasured Redwood Bar x Grill beckons in the weary traveler under a glowing neon red sign. The entry is tattered with pirate skeletons, draping fabrics, eerie lighting, and rope lined quarters. The interior of this murky tavern has nautical elements, hung from the ceiling are captains wheels, at the center of the bar is a skull crossed by swords, but oddly enough, plush booth seating is rampant throughout the place. My friend and I perched ourselves in a booth near the live music, towards the back of the house, on a casual weeknight. Famished, I ordered the grilled shrimp taco plate that was recommended by the waitress, and a MaiTai which was labeled as "shaken to perfection with a special float on top." When everything came out, I was served a flaming MaiTai, but the taste of the drink was awful, anything but perfection. I informed the waitress and she kindly took it, said they would make a new one, then returned a few minutes later with a slightly less terrible new one, I would not recommend ordering that drink, although the presentation was good, a bottle of beer would have been a better choice. The grilled shrimp taco plate I would also not recommend, the tacos were drenched in a sauce that I have never experienced on tacos before, the salsa was not edible, the saving grace of the meal was that the beans were prepared right. Our waitress was polite and kind. The other patrons were country music fans, decked out in cowboy hats, jeans and plaid tops, starkly contrasting the maritime theme of the establishment. The live music was enjoyable but there was hardly any room for dancing, it was quite cramped and standing room only if you weren't fortunate enough to snag a booth. Hopefully this sailor's tale will be a word to the wise, if you were contemplating to potentially partake in this libation.

Such a small cool low key venue. The bands were great the bartender was nice and even though I didnt have the food it looks good. Very cool ambiance.

Caught a friend's band playing at this venue. We enjoyed our time. It's a little bar in the middle of downtown. There's nothing really special about it other than its pirate theme. Great place to hear live music. We got some bar snacks while we were there. The people who worked here were nice. Food was decent. We had the calamari and fries. Large portions. We found a free 2-hour parking spot in front of the metro. We were lucky bc otherwise free parking would've been a challenge. The whole group had fun. Can't complain. Yelp check-in gets you 10% off food.

Just left, and the food was amazing! My family and I shared the nachos, and we all got burgers, and it was all delicious. We were looking for a little adventure on the weekend, and we definitely found it! The atmosphere was amazing and the live bands were so good! Not only was the staff amazing and friendly but the parking was very convenient for being in dtla.

Came here during the New Year. The location is not bad and the inside decor feels cozy. The drinks were also really good I ordered mojitos. I did not get there in time to hear the live band though, the music they played through the speakers also was not to my taste personally. Overall I still had a good time.

The drinks were awesome and the bar person was awesome to talk to. It was a late night stroll in after work and it made the evening pleasant. Need to come in earlier but the place looks crazy fun with all the tables and decorations around. Surely a must.

Cool place to have a drink or two. Not pretentious or ghetto, just a perfect place to hang out, drink, and listen to music.

Came in for lunch. There were very few people in the establishment, and when we received our food, we found it to be tepid. It was hard to comprehend that with no one there, the food was coming out cold. The food tasted good and it wouldn't keep us from coming back again, but couldn't understand, why the hamburger and fries weren't hot.
