This used to be our favorite place for breakfast or lunch. Not anymore! We were shocked to learn of the change in ownership; but more so in the complete menu change, price increase, & the decline in the quality of the food. Water was served to us in plastic cups, instead of glasses; & no ice was offered. Our Merguez sausage sandwiches consisted of a large baguette, but very little filling. Besides a slice of cheese, a tomato sauce of onions & peppers, the actual sausage consisted of only a few pencil-thin "coins" of meat which were hard to even locate. A side order of fries was also part of the meal, & OK. However, the price of this sandwich was $18.95, & completely overpriced like all of the other menu items. Service was slow, & our waitress only checked back w/ us once. We had to flag her down to get our bill. Although there were only a handful of customers in the restaurant, she seemed occupied w/ storing things in a small refrigerator. The wait staff, under the previous owner, was always consistently available to the customers. The new owner introduced herself, & did offer us a complimentary dessert, after she noticed that we'd left most of our lunch on our plates, which was thoughtful. However, this gracious gesture is not enough to encourage us to re-visit Toast Bakery & Cafe. Why this new owner changed what had been a previously fabulous menu with the delicious food offered by the former owner, (who was a creative genius) is puzzling. But this was not a positive change. It is truly sad that, now, Toast Bakery & Cafe is no longer the amazingly satisfying experience that it was, under the management of the former owner.

SO GOOD. Service is pretty fast, prices are good, it's got lots of outdoor seating. The toast coffee is scrumptious and the french toast comes with amazing orange butter. Only thing is that the brunch menu is over at 1, which is a normal time, but as a late riser it hurts my heart a bit.

Terrible! I placed an order thru Caviar. It was supposed to be delivered within 25 minutes Not only I had to wait, but 40 mins (1hr and 5 mins) later, they decide to cancel my order with no notice at all. Never ordering from here again

THE END OF AN ERA. This has literally been my favorite place since I moved to LA in 2017. Well the reign is over. Apparently there's a new owner. Menu cut completely down. My friend whose first time it was excited for a smoothie. The waiter told her they have the same drinks from previously after she told him it was her first time. I literally ate here about a month ago. Crazy how the quality can go sour that fast. Not the same anymore. Skip this place it's not worth the frustration , wasting your time , and getting up walking out like I did today. Will miss this place, but the goodness and essence is no longer.

This place used to be my FAVORITE spot for brunch/lunch. It had an excessive menu, the food was always solid and the servers felt like family. We went today to see it's under new ownership and the menu has been completely stripped of everyone's favorites. Food was mediocre at best. The basket of fries became 1/4th of what it was and their perfect chicken tenders became ones that resemble Tyson chicken nuggets. They cut down on staff. I feel so bad for the waiters who looked overwhelmed and have been working there for over 10 years. I don't know what this new lady is trying to achieve by completely changing a West Hollywood brunch staple but it's not working. Giving 2 stars because we love the waiters.

So sad that this establishment has changed hands and has been taken over and the menu is now completely different and much smaller. For the past 12 years we have been loyal customers as we live in the neighbourhood and we go regularly. Unfortunately, this will be no longer. The staff are not the reason for this. The menu is SO much smaller and all the staple favourite have been stripped. The burrito which used to be fantastic and great value is a sad distant cousin and underwhelming. Don't bother. $11 for a small glass of orange juice - please! It's just incredibly sad when new owners try and change what was an exciting menu to bring friends visiting the area to show off what we had on our doorstep. Now we are going to have to look for alternatives and I suggest that you all do the same.

If I could, I would give this place ZERO stars. But because I need to give it at least ONE, one it is. Service was horrible, waiters were all over the place, no organization within themselves. I ordered a hot latte but I should've just ordered an iced latte! Food wasn't great at all... I have gotten better service at Chick-fil-A.

Toast is dead. The new owner ruined it. Ambiance, menu, touches....all of it. RIP to a neighborhood institution.

Not surprised about all the recent one star reviews. Like so many others, I've been going to Toast for years. The atmosphere, food, and team were wonderful. But when I was there a few days ago, I saw two groups get up and leave, and I wish I had done the same. The food was mediocre and the options made no sense (breakfast only until noon and very heavy dished for lunch), and since almost all the staff is gone, everything took forever. Can't understand why the new owner would buy this gem with a large and loyal customer base and then get rid of all of it.

New owner has caused this once neighborhood staple to take a nosedive. Unfortunately the menu has been completely gutted. You’ll have to flag your server down 3-4 times to even order or get a check. The food was possibly the worst I’ve had in years and the bill was $$$$.My prediction is that the owner will double down on what they’re doing, instead of taking the feedback from the customers and they’ll be closed by July. IfDon’t bother coming here. It’s a disaster.

I work up the street from Toast and would go there for lunch or breakfast several times a day. I had about 5 favorite dishes I'd choose from depending on my mood. Imagine my surprise when I went a few days ago and NONE of them were there anymore! I ordered an omelet with spinach. The eggs were nearly burnt. The spinach seemed like microwaveable frozen spinach. I am soooo disappointed in ALL of the new changes. From the seating to the cups to the availability and quality of food. I'd rave about this place and tell people looking for good breakfast to check it out. Not anymore. It's a shame because the workers were so friendly and welcoming.

New ownership. New menu :-( This is so sad! Used to be my favorite place, it now is just bizarre! I stayed because the servers are amazing as always but whoever took over is trying to erase everything that was good in this place. She removed all the favorites from the menu, added plastic numbers on the tables, her picture is everywhere, I mean everywhere. And, there is not breakfast all day... Super sad.

Just 4 hours ago 3 of us went to our now EX-favourite breakfast place that used to be called "Toast" but bears no resemblance to the original. Nobody needs to be concerned about eating here again in the very near future. Josette, the new owner, will be out of business shortly because she has managed to single-handedly sabotaged a gem. This is not a prediction, it is a certainty. Let me recount how bad management can put a good business out of any business!! There is no one at the door to seat you, so we were forced to take a nearby empty table. Immediately we noticed a sea of unhappy faces everywhere - customers and staff. The wonderful range of dishes had been reduced to about 25% of its former size, ( one page) with most of the old favorites gone. At that point we almost left, sensing the worst was to come - and it certainly did! Firstly we were served French toast with inedible moldy strawberries. Then we were inexplicably served Avocado Toast topped one half with egg white only scrambled eggs and the other half with regular scrambled eggs - not what we ordered and quite an unwelcome novelty. The previous glass water containers are now Flimsy cheap environmentally unsustainable Plastic whose chief function became the only way to level the table from rocking and making us feel seasick. The staff's morale is clearly sapped by Josette's MAL management style. They did their best but were stressed and hopelessly overworked - tres malheure - but not for long because Toast under Josette will soon be out of clientele, sales, business, and staff. C'est vachement trieste! One other incredible scene:- a young couple spoke to every table on the way out and told us that after many years of custom they were never coming back. Every table agreed. Watch out Josette - we're done!!!

I used to love this restaurant. It was my go to brunch/lunch spot for a number of years. The menu was varied enough that there was something to satiate every palate. However, when I returned there, today, for brunch, with visitors, I was absolutely disgusted, shocked, and, embarrassed by what I experienced under a new owner, Josette! The menu has been reduced to one page! Our water arrived in plastic containers with lids. Not only is plastic bad for our health, the water quickly became hot! This was our second clue, after the abysmal change in menu choice, that something was gravely amiss. Our food was absolutely awful. One of our party ate into a moldy strawberry and felt sickened to continue eating the rest of food on his plate. When the avocado toast arrived, one needed a magnifying glass to find the avocado under the eggs. Two people ordered white of scrambled eggs, only to receive a plate of half yellow and half white eggs. One of our party waited and waited for water. My omelette was soggy inside.... soggy spinach and mushrooms. There is now only one choice of green vegetable.... spinach or spinach. I used to be able to order asparagus or broccoli.... On top of this, there was obviously a huge cut in staff. The poor waiters were run ragged. There is no longer a receptionist. Not their fault! There is no manager to overlook the running of the restaurant. The owner is MIA. All in all, the writing is on the wall for this establishment to succeed under this new French owner. Josette, you are either blind, don't understand the damage you are doing to what was a terrific restaurant, or, you have so much money that you don't give a f***k!
