Outstanding. The eel sushi is incredible. It’s my second time here and some of the best sushi I’ve had.

Totoyama has two great vegan options (ramen and vegan tuna sushi), a large and affordable sake selection, and great service. We come often and always enjoy ourselves.

We had zero expectations when we walked in - just needed a bite before heading to the Fonda. It was AMAZING!! We don't live nearby, but we've been telling everyone how much we loved it. Extremely kind staff, wonderful food, real wasabi available. It's not fancy and the prices are reasonable and we really appreciated that vibe. So good!! We'll be back any time we're in the area and are already looking forward to it.

Ordered tonkotsu ramen, with 2/3 spiciness. It's good, albeit a bit salty. It also wasn't as spicy as I expected, so I asked for some more spice. Turns out they charge over a dollar for a little dollop of spice on the side. Disappointing visit, but at least the food did fill me up.

Totoyama exceeded all my expectations for Japanese cuisine. This restaurant truly offers some of the best and most unique sushi rolls I've ever tasted. The flavors were phenomenal! I was equally impressed by their ramen, boasting a depth of flavor I haven't experienced elsewhere. To top it off, Totoyama has a fantastic selection of Japanese beers that pair perfectly with their dishes. If you love authentic Japanese food with a creative touch, Totoyama is a must-try!

The chefs here do a wonderful job, which has been a great reason to regularly come here versus the more expensive sushi restaurants in the immediate vicinity. It’s ‘no frills’ but the quality food made up for it until some of the most outlandish and deceitful service tonight. We enjoyed multiple rounds of ordering sushi and were delighted by complimentary rolls from the kitchen, which you are accustomed to at nicer sushi restaurants you frequent. My Spidey Sense kicked in when I overheard another table say they hadn’t received the same food by our server and had asked to remove it from their bill. When our bill subsequently came and we were charged for it, we politely brought the mistake to our server’s attention that we did not order these but were charged. They repeatedly and incredulously asked, “But you ate them?! You think you can eat food and not pay for it?!” So was the server trying to make us pay for their mistake? W the actual….A manager was called and told of the mistake, and they tried to get us to pay for half of it, making a very large, embarrassing scene. At last they relented and we left feeling SO prickly. Totally bummed considering we really liked coming here.Enjoy the food, but WATCH YOUR BILL.

Aside from the excellent service, the food here exceeded my expectations. The restaurant has a wide array of Japanese cuisine for anyone to try something new. Highly recommend and will be coming back next time in Los Angeles!

We lived upstairs from this place for a while and we still miss it. The food is great, service is quick, and we ate there a lot. Fresh wasabi, great rolls, good appetizers. Last time we were there we came in at the end of the night and they graciously served us right before closing, everything was delicious. We really miss just getting a shrimp tempura after work at the Pantages.

They’re nice enough people here. No wait for seating. The sake is cheap af. Got a headache after two hot sake cups. Got the omakase and the waiter couldn’t tell me what was what. Just mumbles tuna and salmon and walked off lol. You get what you pay for. It just doesn’t make sense to pay for a cheap omakase here when you can go to sugarfish for the same price and get wayyyy better quality fish. The toro (fatty tuna) which should melt in your mouth was so chewy I actually spit it out when my dining partner wasn’t looking. The rice is dry and bland and falls apart soon as you touch it. This is just mid af sushi. Dry wasabi. Just bad.
