What else to wish than clean soy-free, gluten-free vegan food which tastes delicious and a nice talk with the staff? I appreciate that their main dishes have protein made of mushrooms, that's very beneficial for you, don't eat soy! In this cuisine there is no soy because Africans simply didn't have it, so it's healthier...The sweet potato dish looks and tastes amazing and the dessert dawadawa is fabulous too!Thank you and see you again!Vegetarian options: Everything is vegan.Dietary restrictions: Naturally dairy-free, soy-free and also gluten-free options.

We have been wanting to go for some time, so were super stoked to get here this week. Food was delicious. We loved the okra salad and definitely the Maafe stew. Yum! Definitely recommend those. Mike enjoyed his cocktail. Service was spot on. The welcoming was awesome and our server was kind, friendly, and super excited about the menu. We will be back.

This place is wonderful. Loved the food, the service, and the decor and vibes inside. My absolute favorite was the lions mane pie!

I've been wanting to come to Ubuntu for months but hadn't been to LA in a while to do so. Finally made it and this was the first place I hit upon landing. We ordered a lot of things and everything tasted great. What I found myself enjoying the most was the maafe and the grilled cabbage. Yum! Definitely nice to come here with a group so you can try everything.

The reason I gave this wonderful restaurant 4 stars is how the pricing escalates if you come with a group larger than 7. The first time I came with three, the cost was approximately $50.00 each w drinks ($147.00). Last night I came with 8 and the pricing increased 100%. For 8 people our bill came to $853.00, which came to $100+ per person, a 100% increase! I love this restaurant but the sticker shock at the end dampened our enjoyment.

The food was incredible and some of the best tasting food I’ve ever had. Menu was diverse and the drinks not too sweet. Interior is very warm and inviting and the garden area looked nice too. Really just order everything on the menu because that’s what I would do if I went back.

Great new spot with delicious food. Don’t ever read reviews written by Infatuation. It’s a poor mans Eater with interns masquerading as food critics. Yikes. This place is excellent and so needed in a city as big as LA with woefully limited offerings of African delights done well. Reserve a spot and you won’t be disappointed except when its time to leave.

Device was great, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The food was all delicious. A couple of plates were a little spicy for me, but my friend enjoyed them :) The trumpet mushrooms were my favorite, but quite pricey for a very small serving.

Amazing food. It reminded me of the southern food of my Kentucky grandmother or my Carolina/Virginia days but made with the flair and taste buds of an Iron Chef. You get the comfort food as simple as okra or grits, but at the same time, they are worthy of any NY/LA/Paris restaurant ever. The staff is attentive and able to answer any question. You won't feel rushed, but you will feel pampered. The drinks are excellent also. Decorated with just the right atmosphere. I can't think of a single thing that could be improved.

OOOF. The social justice warrior in me wanted to give this place 5 stars. West African, female owned, vegan. But, sadly, 2 stars it is. The lack of parking was the first kicker. We had to park around the street on a residential with super hard to find and very limited spots. The food was good, albeit in small portions, and one of our dishes came out room temp. The real deal breaker, though, was that the staff seemed to be tag teaming our table and the right hand was clearly not talking to the left. Our food took soooo long to come out, multiple things were forgotten, a "make it up to you" dessert was brought out, but it wasn't the one we chose. And then, after this fiasco of a meal, the final server of the night was soooo happy and proud to ask me what I thought of it all. Ummm, my friend, do you want honesty, or politeness? Staff needs to communicate to each other better, and the tag team wait staff needs to be more seamless. One and done on this spot.
