Small, charming bakery/confectionary located in Glendale right at the Burbank border. I've only been once as of 3/24, but it seems like they do a lot of unique cakes or at least cakes I don't see often at other places. Their other offerings include coffee, tea, other baked goods, and of course, lots of fun confections. Oh, and they offer an afternoon tea service seated on the side of the building in an enclosed area. I came here looking for the Blum's Coffee Crunch Cake - I heard great things and wanted to pick some up for a friend's birthday. Lots of things looked really good, so ended up getting a couple slices of the coffee crunch cake, a slice of the passionfruit pie, and a couple of the mochi shoyu caramel cakes. The coffee crunch cake is as delicious as advertised - it was a spongey chiffon cake, not overly sweet, and had a great contrast in texture with the coffee honeycomb that adorned the outside on the whipped coffee frosting. Actually none of the items were overly sweet, which I appreciated. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the passionfruit pie - similar to a key lime pie. The moshi shoyu was nice and chewy, with a bit of Asian flavor profile. There was a group of folks finishing up the afternoon tea and they had to come in and pay, so it was a bit hectic at the time I was in there, but the line pretty standard in terms of bakeries or coffee shops.

This was a place where I literally wanted to sample everything they had in their display cases. Valerie certainly makes great confections. It's a cute little shop with an adjacent building where they serve afternoon tea. That's an experience I'll have to come back for on another day. Love afternoon tea services! We came for a few slices of their famous Coffee Crunch Cake (and a few other treats) but I was seriously considering buying the whole cake. It was delectable and a huge party hit. Also got a couple of the Mochi Shoyu Caramel Cake and Passionfruit Pie. Each dessert was really unique and stood out on their own. I really had a hard time choosing a favorite and I can only imagine all the other items they had in store were equally fantastic.

Discover this hidden gem in Glendale, California! Nestled away, it's a serene and picturesque spot that often goes unnoticed by many. Their collection of pastries, teas, and coffees is absolutely delightful.

The food/service/atmosphere does not apply. My husband purchased a box of chocolates (mainly pralines and some truffles). 110 dollars...well, we are used to Sprungle (Swiss) or Chocolat (Austrian) and willing to pay for those. Both are infinitely superior to 'Valeries' and less expensive. Why the hype? Yes, the chocolate is decent but not worth the price. Perhaps other parts of what she sells is wonderful but Heath bars are the equivalent to the pralines, and Lindl is smoother and in my book better than the truffles.

We ordered Blum's Coffee Crunch Cake for our Thanksgiving dinner. We had tried a slice of the cake a few weeks earlier and really liked it so we ordered it for Thanksgiving. When we cut into it we found a paper straw. When I wrote to inform Valerie's of the straw I found in the cake this was the response "That straw is actually intentional! It is inserted in the center of the cake for stability, the soft sponge cake and whipped cream frosting are not very stable, it secures the cake as it rides in customer's trunks and passenger seats." This is odd as we have purchased many cakes over the years and never once had a straw in the cake for the reason Valerie's indicated. If this was really the reason, they intentionally put a straw in the cake, why would they have not told us about the straw in the cake? You could not see the straw when looking at the cake so how would I have known it was there? The reason given the more I think about it just does not make sense and then not to have told us about the straw if it was intentionally put there?? I struggle with their reasoning.

I heard they have a great pumpkin pie slice and unfortunately they ran out (serves me right as i came the day before thanksgiving), so i opted for a seasonal pie slice of nuts and seeds which was great! i also had the bacon quiche which was amazing; it was so soft and buttery.

This place has an amazing array of gourmet cakes that are to die for. Love their famous Coffee Crunch Cake. The employees that work there are friendly and have great customer service. Cute shop to take look around and to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Magnificent cakes, petit fours and unique collaborative chocolates partnering with local food world icons. The patio seating is adorable. It's the perfect place for afternoon tea. Friendly people behind the counter. Valerie is a "must" for fabulous gourmet gifting.

Called 5 times in 2 hours. Each time was told "I will call you back in 2 minutes." And "We'll call you back in a few minutes." They never ended up ever calling me back. Had to call the Glendale location to place an order to be picked up here.I told them repeatedly that I was trying to place an order for my mother's birthday, and that I needed to leave for work. They don't care. Place has completely gone downhill. The other reviews saying that customer service is non-existent are right. Her birthday was actually several weeks ago, and she wanted the blueberry pie. I tried calling over a dozen times back then as well. Each time an employee told me I would get a call back in a few minutes. Each time was a lie.
