Quick service and good food. Picked up few dishes on the weekend and the food was fresh and tasty. Good value for money. Thatte Idli - soft and served with sambar and chutneys. Medu vada - serve 4 vada's and they were crispy (hoped they put less black pepper) Onion chilli uttapam - 2 pieces and tasted pretty well. Filter coffee - perfectly prepared. Will be going back again to try more dishes. They don't have indoor dining since it's an express store but the location has couple of tables outside if you want to enjoy the food right there.

If you are in a time crunch and need some quick and healthy food or snack this is the place for you. Menu is limited to ensure food is always at good quality; customer support is quick and efficient. Wait time is little to none. They sell sambar aka curry/gravy to go at a variety of volume. Also some dishes. Just cook your rice and prepare your own roti at home. Their coffee is fresh and tasty. Served with fresh raw milk. If you are not sure try the mini size as a start. Price is also reasonable. Summary- I highly recommend this place!

Wow, this is some good Indian food. I've only had this type of Indian food once before, and this restaurant outshines it. Found this place on Yelp and the pics sold us. There were 2 of us and we had no idea how to order or what was what or how to eat it, but we were craving Indian food. We spoke to who we think was the owner, very helpful and pleasant man, and he helped us decide on what to order and how much to order. We got a combo item that included Idly, different chutneys, and curry. There's nowhere to sit inside so just order to-go and enjoy at home. This isn't your typical greasy butter chicken and biryani restaurant. It's tastes healthy, fresh, and like it's homemade. I've already had take out from here twice.

I had coffee there and its very close to the original filter coffee I had in India. The store has sparse sitting, so I would suggest doing carry on. They had a refrigerator full of prepacked curries. So pickup will be fast. The store is nestled between T-Mobile and Starbucks stores. Parking is ample.

I decided to check out this restaurant after finding it listed as a dine-in spot on Google. Upon arrival, I noticed only a couple of tables outside, but I assumed they still offered dine-in service. I ordered filter coffee, idly, and pongal, expecting to enjoy them at the restaurant. However, everything was served in take-out containers, despite our intention to dine in.The food was average at best. While the idly was sizable, the chutney and sambhar were disappointingly cold. However, the filter coffee lived up to the expectation and was enjoyable.Overall, the experience of dining in wasn’t pleasant. It turns out that this is primarily a take-out restaurant, not suitable for those seeking a sit-down meal.

The vibes, aroma, music... They all remind me of India. Must try Masala Vada!

Hot off the press- our review from our dinner experience at Milpitas tonight. Good things first- delicious sambar, good packaging and good idiyappam/kurma.What could go better- 1. Sambar to idly ratio in sambar idly is very off. Please cut the idly portion in half or double the sambar. We are aware of your extra sambar policy, but you can’t serve a thattu idly as a hero of this dish.2. I can confirm that we don’t have covid, yet the red chutney had no flavor.3. Vada was very dense and takes the fun away from the joying more than half a vada. We are vada aficionados and have tasted several in Chennai to be able to differentiate the density.4. Filter coffee can be served in a Starbucks short size with creamier milk (boiled for a while longer). Our milk tasted pretty raw (tasted at 8pm).We traveled from FL, which has zero decent South Indian restaurants. Good efforts, so I’d recommend you fine tune items currently on the menu before experimenting with more.Let’s also not belittle South Indian food by calling it a “McDonald’s experience”. We need to celebrate it and do justice by serving dishes the right way instead of forcing takeouts.

Hole in the wall, works more like a canteen. They have good food, best for takeout. I dont recommend for dine-in. They have a couple of tables with chairs setup on the sidewalk.

Idli express and their chain of restaurants stands out. They have a great selection of food menu and do their best to serve fresh food without compromising on their quality. Their ambiance, staff and price are highly recommended. One of the authentic restaurants that replicates tamil authenticity. I would highly recommend their puliodharai, poriyal, idli, vadai, pongal, uttapams and their snack.Vegetarian options: The menu is 100% vegetarian and they also have vegan options.Dietary restrictions: They have vegetarian and vegan options only.Parking: Free parking lotKid-friendliness: The place is preferred for pick up only.Wheelchair accessibility: The place is wheelchair accessible

This is a combined review for Idly Express Milpitas and Mylapore Pleasanton (and if I may, take it all the way back to November 2020 when I discovered Mylapore Express, sitting in Austin, TX). Might as well start chronologically :) Nov 2020, peak pandemic, my husband and I were forced to celebrate our milestone 10 year anniversary, confined and quarantined. The least I could do was surprise him with a South Indian feast. Having heard about ME shipping, I didn't think twice and we got THE most sumptuous meal with sambar, rasam, vethakozhambu, puliyodharai and more, delivered to our doorstep in Austin, in the most pristine package, the night before our anniversary, fresh as ever. So began our family's love affair with ME. But we soon found out, it was one sided, haha, because shipping out of state was terminated (for the right business reasons obviously) soon after. Long sigh... Fast forward to 2022-23, I was diligently following Jay on social media and was in awe of all the new locations added to the Mylapore family and felt so sad about not being able to enjoy all the goodness the Bay Area folks were/are blessed with. In July of 2023, my school friends (of 30 years) and I were to spend our reunion in the Bay. As soon as the trip got finalized, being one of the pregnant ones in the group, I got first dibs on where we will be eating. (If you are still reading, kudos!) Naturally my first (and only) wish was Idly Express for breakfast and to-go items for our 2 days stay in Capitola. To say, I was blown away is an understatement. My pregnant self was in heaven! And the best part was that we had 4 new IE fans at the end of our meal (1 from Raleigh, 2 from the Bay, 1 more from Austin & 1 from Miami). We snagged 3 curries to go, mmmed and aaaahed over the coffee, buttermilk and rose milk and kept saying thank you to the Gods! Last week, my newly expanded family and I were in the Bay for Spring Break, including my parents who are visiting from Bengaluru. My Amma is the biggest Mylapore fan and religiously follows Jay and his Amma on FB. It was her dream to eat at IE and/or ME. Well, I made it happen for her and for us! We pretty much ate 4-5 meals from IE Milpitas (Pongal, Vada, Idli, coffee, rose milk, buttermilk, Methi Malai Paneer, Veg Handi masala, etc) and the most fabulous lunch Thali at Mylapore Pleasanton last Sunday. Sheer joy & full satiation - the only way to describe our dining experience over the course of the 5 days. Huge shoutout to sweet Aditi, helming the front at IE Milpitas!! Love her energy and attitude. Thank you for letting us enjoy a slice of the awesomeness that is ME/IE. We hope Austin is on the cards for an out of state location in the near future. I will do everything within my power to make it happen if I could :)

We have been regular Mylapore express customers so we are also regulars here. I enjoy thé vadas , idli and pongal but lately kind of bored with the variety. Would love to see some dosas, poori etc. The food is consistent and less spicy which suits us well.
