We ordered through the Weee! grocery delivery site, specifically through their restaurant delivery section. So, disclaimer, I have never actually physically been to this Milpitas Square location and the Weee! site can be translated to English, Chinese, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese. As it is, I'm still trying to figure out whether or not this Shanghai No. One is another branch of the Shanghai No. One that's in Cupertino's The Marketplace shopping mall (the one a door over from ICICLES). A few of the dishes look similar, so it's a possibility. Like all our Weee! orders, it arrived a bit cold, but was otherwise fine. In all our dishes, there was actually more food than it looks like there is. My dad commented that it was definitely worth what we paid for. Actually, everything was super delicious and the portions are pretty good. My favorite was definitely the Braised Pork with Quail Eggs, though I'm also a s***** for Pan Fried Pork Buns. Unfortunately, the soup in the buns wasn't able to hold out for the trip and had already soaked in. However, if you poke a hole and microwave it enough, you can get the leftover soup/sauce inside to caramelize into something crispy, which is also very delicious. Definitely some of my favorite Chinese takeout at the moment. XD

Food is good, pretty authentic Shanghainese food. However, the customer service is the worst, waitress only speaks Mandarin and ignored our needs, very long wait for the food. One of the items was delayed and the waitress insisted on charging us and needed to call her manager/owner over the phone to get approval (which caused a longer wait). Probably will not return again unless you are ordering pickup or delivery (expect a long wait FYI).

We decided to dine-n to experience what we have not done for over one year. But it was such a bad experience I decided to give no tip and would rate zero star if I could. We were given paper cups, plates, bowls, plastic spoons, and disposal chopsticks, along with a pot of tea. Tea - it poured out hot water, we opened the pot to see one tea bag inside. Decided to pour back the hot water and wait for the tea to seep. However, the tea never seeped in, even by the end of our meal. So I wonder how much hot water this tea bag has gone through. Steamed pork dumpling $9.99 - The dumplings tasted fine but the experience was not good and here are the reasons why. 1, very little vinegar in a tiny plastic container that I cannot dip into. 2, I like to put my dumpling on a soup spoon to catch the juice because the dumpling is too big for me to eat in one bite, but the provided flimsy plastic spoon was too small to hold the dumpling. Stir fried string bean $14.99 - The flavor was good but the beans were dry from being too old. I eat this dish all the time, it is supposed to be crispy. This was the worst string bean I've had. I told the staff the vegetable was old and dry and asked to exchange it for a different vegetable dish but she said no. That is when I decided not to tip due to poor customer service. I think the cook is good but no one can make old beans taste good. Probably business has been slow which leads to slower turnover of ingredients. Half way through our meal, a continuous beeping sound rang in the background, we didn't know where it came from or why it was ringing but no staff did anything about it. I was very annoyed and wished we never came in. Fresh salted pork with bamboo shoot soup $19.99 - It was good soup but they did not give us a serving ladle so we had to use the provided flimsy plastic spoons to scoop enough soup into our paper bowls.

Unless you want to leave empty-handed, do not try your luck here. I placed an order on their online ordering website ( and received a confirmation via text and email. However, upon going to the restaurant, the employee took one look and rudely told me that they did not receive my order and walked away. I attempted to pull out my receipts to show proof of order and this waitress simply walked away saying they do not have online ordering and ignored me completely. I stood there for 10 minutes waiting to see if she would come out but was left simply standing in the restaurant in shock at what happened. Luckily, I had not yet paid but it was absolutely ridiculous how I was treated. This employee did not even try to resolve anything or offer any solution and I left empty-handed. Never had I experienced such unprofessionalism at any restaurant. I will definitely not be back and will warn anyone who tries to order from here as well. Here are images of the "confirmation" I got for my order... why create an online ordering website if you don't use it??

Only tried 3 dishes, but they are all Shanghai traditional favorites. xiao long bao (xlb or soup dumplings), crab lion head (pork meat ball), wine sauce white fish. These are definitely one of the best versions of these Shanghai dishes. The XLB has juicy and tasty soup in the dumpling; well made meat/vegi; the skin is thin yet a little bit chewy. Almost perfect. The crab egg layered on pork meat ball in a subtle tasty soup sauce (Lion Head Meat Ball) is also excellent. The meat is soft and loosen after splitting it; the way it's supposed to be. Don't be alarmed when the meat's center is a bit pinkish; it's the marinade that made it so; not uncooked. The wine sauce black cod fish is delicious and silky smooth like that of tofu. Highly recommended. The ice water was excellent as well, infused with fresh slices of lemon. That's all for now... Ate the outdoor dining tables. Will be back for more.

Do NOT go there!!! Or at least don't use your credit card there!!! They copy your credit card somehow and use your card to shop somewhere else!!! Extremely shady business!! The reason why I knew this is because last time I used my credit card was at CBI kitchen and flew to a different city. Card has always been in my wallet, never lost it, but more transactions start to pop up near CBI kitchen. 2 transactions AT CBI and more in Santa Clara. $400 on a Karean restaurant!!!

It's rare for a authentic Chinese restaurant to receive 5 stars because of many reasons. Could be service, decor, cleanness, etc. This place has it all! Authentic food, great service, and nice decor. A bit pricey, and the food is certainly spicy, but I love to come here.
