This location recently changed hands from Ruby’s to OC Diner. There are a few slight changes to the menu, service and overall real, but for the most part, same ol same ol. The service was a bit on the slower side as they didn’t have a host to seat you. This caused a bit of a service snapfoo as people sat where they wished and then servers had to adjust who and where they serviced based on next come, next serve. The menu prices were a bit on the higher side to adjust to what I would beleive to be high rent costs. But 3 and 1/2 buck for a so-so cup of coffee, hard pass. This is a 50’s diner feel, with 2035 prices. The vibe was a bit off and didn’t have that classic old school 50’s uniform, music and attitude going on… Which we all seem to love when visiting a diner. The plating was a bit to be desired and seemed a bit rushed really. It felt more like this had been saved as an investment and not a passion. Had the pleasure of visiting the Ruby’s in the South Coast Plaza Mall and was pleasantly surprised it was still a ruby’s and rockin the awesome old world diner vibe! Sad to see this location falling away from the diner vibe as it used to be a great go-to spot when in the area.

LOVE OC diner. Food is surprisingly very good, the pictures on their advertisements in the mall and their mailing coupons don't do the actual menu justice. Service is phenomenal. The artwork on the wall is nice, it gives you a distinct Orange County feel. I like this a lot better than Ruby's.

I have always loved Ruby's turkey burgers so I was so sad when I heard the Mission Viejo Mall location was closing. Then I saw some facebook posts stating that the OC Diner took that location over and that the menu was the same. So I got takeout tonight and I'm so happy! I ordered all of my favorites - Turkey burger on a wheat bun with cheddar cheese, fries, and large garden salad and everything was perfect and actually better and more fresh than it was when it was Ruby's! I'll definitely be going back and highly recommend!

Wow! The food here is pretty amazing! Its like ruby's but upgraded. I got the corn beef hash and eggs and it was soooo delicious. The eggs tasted like it was beaten and scrambled fresh, you can distinctively see the egg whites and egg yolk. The man who got my order was sweet and got my order together fast. The food tasted so good. I love having breakfast food for dinner, there's just something about breakfast for dinner that just hits so hard! This place definitely still had that old diner feel to it, there's a train that runs in circles on the ceiling. I love that old diner feel. I did only get takeout this time but i definitely want to sit down and enjoy here at least once! I would recommend coming here if you love breakfast food

We were shopping at Mission Viejo Mall, and noticed that Ruby had changed to OC diner. My wife and I thought we'd give it a try and the food and the services was great. Just as good if not better than Rubys. Jaime, our server where is great. It looked like they were short staff that day, but Jaime was really hustling and made sure that he gave us great service. And he was really friendly and nice and attentive. I love the diner ambience, and they still kept the model train running that Ruby had. I highly recommend this place !

Used to love coming to Ruby's before they changed the menu, the food never tasted as good. However, since becoming OC Diner, the menu is just the way I remember it! Delicious food, some of the best breakfast options and one of the greatest roasted turkey sandwiches I've had! The service is always amazing, they have fantastic and friendly staff! Between the great food and amazing service, I'll be coming back here weekly if possible.

Ruby's in everything but name.The cheeseburger was absolutely delicious and the sweet potato fries were warm and crispy. Service was quick and delightful. I don't think I've seen someone do as much as Frank did, he was everywhere! 10/10 I'd love to visit again and I wish them all the best of luck ❤

VERY HARD YO FIND AND PARK TO GET HERE ..Should be noted that it is INSIDE of a mall and u need to do MALL PARKING and walk to the diner.We ended up just leaving because it was SOO crowded in the parking garage.
Great service and same food as the old place. I love love love their turkey burgers so I hope they never change that part! Delicious shakes as well. We will be back!

fries 5/5. burgers were really good, but the tomatoes weren't ripe. they're nice, but my server (I couldn't see his name tag. he was short ish with black hair) he asked if things were okay once, but he was already gone before I could get a word out and rarely checked on us. we were there for about an hour, and he checked on us once. We asked for regular coke, (when we came in and sat down) and he brought us a diet coke, and we tried to get his attention more than once to ask to fix it. it wasn't until 15 minutes later, when our food came out and the nice lady fixed it for us and apologized.Vegetarian options: veggie burgers and saladsDietary restrictions: GF and veggie options/substitutionsParking: right next to the diner outside and around the mallKid-friendliness: It is pretty much a Ruby's diner and has a train going around above your head as well as gumballs for 5 cents. fun milkshakesWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible parking, doors and tables/accommodations

We wanted a diner, and found it! Fast, friendly, and accurate service. Substitutions were no problem. All seven of us were happy with our meals. I'd definitely go there again.

Food was mediocre at best. I watched my girlfriend's food sit on the counter for 15 min before mine came out and both ended up being cold. For the price the food was very poor quality. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
