Excellent fish! If looking for crazy rolls with lots of sauces this is not your place. If you just want excellent fish you're in the right place. Only a handful of tables and seats at the sushi bar so reservations are suggested.Parking: Tons of parking.

The fish quality and preparation is excellent; the service is too. Sushi chef is very good. Small but good selection. Edamame was served cold without salt. They did heat it up for me and provide sea salt upon request.

Took 45 minutes to get a Rainbow roll. It was warm so I sent it back saying please take it off the bill. The waitress just billed us as Sushi for a lump amount with no itemization. Basically, she left the roll on the bill and tried to slip it by as a lump total. Not cool, not going back.

Shin-san is worth checking out. If people born and raised in Tokyo consider his place worthy of coming to compared to others in the area, that means something. He usually has the same selection of fish from week to week, but it's tried and true and of great quality. Some highlights: -Maguro and Chu-toro (c'mon) -Pepper Tuna (heavy coating of black pepper, quick sear tataki over open fire, great onion-soy dressing) -Sashimi salad (lots of mixed sashimi, great onion-soy dressing) -Hamachi kama/collar (usually pretty large, go early, he sells out) -Handrolls (fat and stuffed with the good stuff) -Albacore (creamy) -Scallops (creamy) -any kind of mackerel (got that intense good-fishy taste)

Very VERY fresh seafood ? Probably the freshest I have since I was in Canada 8 years ago. The price looks like a bit higher at a glance but that yellowtail sashimi I had was good size, Plus the quality so I think the price is not bad at all ?The restaurant is not big and it can get crowded so expect some wait time. But overall, I am glad I know and tried this place out so you should too!

I love this place! It is the best sushi in the OC. It's a little spot, the fish is fresh, the restaurant is clean and the food is fabulous. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 16 years and love it today just as much as I loved it 16 years ago. If you haven't tried Shin's sushi then you are missing out!

Hands down the best sushi not only in OC but probably anywhere. Unpretentious small spot serving the best sushi around. Straightforward and simple nigiri, sashimi, and rolls and everything is incredible. Have been to great sushi bars in Japan and this is as close as it gets.
