Best Italian food in the valley! I love their pasta and Italian dish selection. Everything I've had here has been delicious!Started with the arancini, which was perfectly fried. It had a nice crunchy bread brumb crust with an amazing rice cheese and beef filling that had a perfect cheese pull. 8/10Also had a bowl of gnocchi soup with an amazing garlic butter broth that was full of flavor and perfectly cooked gnocchi dumplings. 10/10Finished with a perfectly cooked chicken parm with nicely fried chicken, over spaghetti noodles, with a robust and hearty marinara sauce 10/10Previously, I had the shrimp scampi and steak combo also, and that dish was amazing. Definitely a great place overall, and will keep coming back!Vegetarian options: The baked zitti looked really good and can include fried eggplant.

Absolutely delicious food! Despite being short staffed, and having a hero bartender come in on her obvious day off, what phenomenal service!! A warm and amazing crew. Made us feel so taken care of! And the food was fantastic! Their garlic bread is to die for!! Fun atmosphere, amazing people, wonderful food!

We decided to check this place out when our regular place couldn't seat our party of 8. Despite calling at the last minute they managed to make room for us. Vinnie and the staff are warm and extremely friendly. Vinnie made us feel right at home and was remarkably hospitable; he made the evening quite memorable! In addition, the food is fantastic. We had the alfredo and the lasagna and both were superb! The portion sizes are also incredibly generous (all 8 of us took a box home). This is now my favorite Italian joint in town and we will definitely be returning. If you're looking for a cozy Italian place without any of the pretentiousness, this is your place. Go check it out!

driving around downtown on a Saturday morning looking for some breakfast, usually hit Velvet Creamery on McHenry.. for many reasons, but today had been at farmers market and did not want to drive back up McHenry, was about 10am.. with Deva's gone wasn't sure where to go, so started driving up and down the streets, that's when my wife spotted "CHEFS OF NEW YORK" and said isn't that wear Oceana's (spell check) was? I think she was right , nostalgia break, Oceana's was where we had our first date...back to CoNY ...so I said hey, I think I remember Chefs of NY served breakfast, and if not pasta is always good... We went in and found a fairly crowded restaurant with plenty of seating, we were promptly seated at a table near the end of the counter where we could see the chefs and staff working, giant pots making sauce ( my dad calls it gravy) one chef putting together large trays of lasagna... while we waited my coffee cup remained full, thank you attentive young lady, My wife ordered the waffle combo, I went with the steak and eggs, wasn't a very long wait, actually in our modern times I am no longer aware of what would constitute to long of a wait? I sat with my wife , which is the finest company of all , talking and making observations about the day ahead and folks coming and going,, Our food arrived, looked delicious, and tasted the same delish.. my potatoes while rather plain in appearance were seasoned well , and cooked completely. The steak was cooked to perfection, well seasoned, tender and flavorful. for a breakfast cut steak, would be easy to over cook , but was done to medium well perfection. My wife enjoyed her breakfast as well, stating the waffle was very good, bacon cooked well, but could have been thicker ( it can always be thicker ) overall we enjoyed our dining experience. Our waitress was personable and attentive, the wait staff was very efficient, and they even enjoyed our first date story........ because I forgot my wallet again ...... If you are downtown looking for breakfast would recommend Chefs of New York... we will be back for sure.

Pizza is good but since every single bartender quit ( simultaneously) service in the bar area has gone down significantly. I’m 5 minutes away but seem to only be able to get my food 5-10 minutes before my hour lunch ends. Also when asked for a margarita they said they don’t know how to make it. Definitely need more people. Kitchen looks full but cooks are slow

Super excited to say it’s open again!! Love their breakfast, the Vinnie Scramble is my favorite but I add a side of bacon. Healthy servings so I end up making two meals out of it. Great service and lots of parking which is always a challenge in the downtown area. Highly recommend!

But, re-opening in a few days!!! It will be so wonderful to see Vinny again and dine on Nona's recipes!

Food is good here and people tried to be attentive even when they were busy. Lunch combo (half soup half sandwich, half soup half salad, pasta special etc) are of great value. Some other items seemed sorta pricey tho, like $23.5 for ravioli. Would recommend!

I have not been to chefs in New York for a few years and this was my first time at the one downtown. Thank you so much for the wonderful dinner and the awesome service!

"Fiasco" is an Italian word, right? I came here prepared to be easy-going and overlook small glitches, so the kitchen committed sins too glaring to be overlooked. Let's start with the positive. We were seated immediately. The server was very nice. Our order was taken promptly. The soup arrived swiftly and was distinctly soup-like. The garlic knots were hot and tasty. So far, so good! The atmosphere tries to evoke Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. The menu is pretty standard Schenectady. Both of these are fine things. I ate a lot of pasta fazul soup in Schenectady, back in the day. All is well until... Time drags on the march to the main course. Okay, fine, they're busy. My dinner companion's plate arrives. He starts because we figure, eat it while it's hot. HaHA. It is not hot. The rare steak, while burnt on the outside, is cold. Time marches. Time keeps marching. As I'm considering asking to pay for my soup and just forget my main course, my main course arrives. This is because I'm cursed. My shrimp is pink on the outside but raw on the inside. My "blackened" fish is lightly toasted and raw in the middle. My mashed potatoes are great. The poor server tries to do something to make this all right, and it's really honestly not her problem. She showed up and did her part. She can't fix the kitchen. Nobody is upset at her, but adopting her and giving her a better life where she doesn't have to work at this restaurant probably isn't feasible. As we were leaving, I overheard diners gushing about how they're regulars and love the place. So it's possible to get a good meal here, but I have no idea how you do it, and at New York City prices, I'm not giving it a second shot.

Chicken was raw. RAW. Please look at the photo I just uploaded. This is disgusting. The manager said I still had to pay for the dish. I will NEVER return. I wasn't even offered a courtesy replacement. I'm literally shaking right now this is unacceptable.
