This place needs an attitude clean up I've come into this shop numerous times and each visit was followed by the rudest service I've ever encountered, enough to make anyone turn right around and walk out. Even after I decided to call ahead and order over the phone, service was just as poor if not worse. First I asked if I could substitute the chicken pesto sandwich with a different kind of bread and the lady over the phone responded like I had asked her to wipe the grime from under my shoe. She said that's not possible, when the last time i visited there was no problem switching the bread. Her tone over the phone was disrespectful enough that everyone else in the room with me had widened their eyes in disbelief. There's no way I'm letting someone with this much attitude anywhere near my food period

I'm not a sandwich fan, but today I was craving a sandwich like the old fashioned way! Husband had been coming here for years when he worked in Modesto. Finally decided to take me there. Let me tell you, it was delish! Lots of meat and the price was great!! Ladies are very nice and quick! A must try sandwiches shop!

Great lady's in there! One of them come outside and met my fur baby. She allowed my Zoe to come in while I got my food. She hooked up Zoe with some turkey.I drive over the road, I will definitely stop here again when I'm in the area.

I miss going to deli shops where I grew up in and just have a good, big delicious sandwich! Sadly they are just childhood memories now. The old school Italian and deli shops are long gone around the neighborhood I grew up in. Here in Modesto at least I got this shop. If your in the mood for a great tasting sandwich then this is the place for you.

The sandwiches are good, but service is incredibly rude. Today I went in and waited at the register while several extremely slow moving sour looking ladies were working behind the counter. They all looked directly at me at various points in time (almost as if I was an irritation), but not one of them took the time to say something like "we'll be right with you" or even maybe "we don't want to help you". Nothing. After at least three or four minutes of this, another sour looking lady came out of the back and started requesting someone take care of the register. One of the oh so lovely employees asked her if she was talking to her or someone else. The first woman again said help was needed at the register. The second woman then said, right in front of me, "Well, they're just going to have to wait". It was at that point I turned around and walked out. Like I said, their food is good- I have eaten it in the past. But I definitely wont go back anymore. They treat you as if you are ruining their day.

Fresh and delicious. If you want plenty of meat and fresh produce, this place is for you. I enjoy the Modesto Special Pastrami, hot pastrami, ham sandwich, and have enjoyed the soups. My husband's favorite is hot corned beef and also has enjoyed their lasagna special. We often stop by on our way out of town road trips. I get a sandwich, eat half for lunch and put the other half in the ice chest and eat it for dinner. They are that filling!

Came into Modesto early enough for a quick lunch, and The Sandwich Shop was set in my sights and all I needed to do was squeeze the trigger, so I did. Among other things I had to see this guy about some antique lamp shades from Papua New Guinea that are made from tattooed tribesmen, he's parting with them because they give his new wife the Higglywigglies.Man-O-Man my sandwich was so good I had to get another just to verify the greatness of the first one.5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

My parents used to come here all the time back in the 80’s before they moved away. My dad recommended this place to me and we finally got to give it a shot. It feels like you’re in an 80’s time bubble, nice a clean too. Staff was very nice and do their job well. Thank you for the delicious hot chicken breast pesto sandwich on this cold rainy day and a moment back in time! Will definitely be coming back regularly!!Parking: Small but plenty of spaces. Handicap accessible.Kid-friendliness: Great deals on kids meals.
