Large portions with fair prices. Good service and clean. Indoor and outdoor seating. Slight cooking error that they fixed right away. Takes card.

Place is no longer good brother. It's some noodle spot. They haven't changed their huge sign on the building but have a smaller grand opening sign. Fooled me.

Randomly found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out during dinner time. The lady working inside was very friendly, but she didn't speak much English. Bring a Chinese friend or Google translate can be helpful. We ordered dry fried squid head, dried Bean curd crust with pork, Northeast China style sauerkraut, and sesame crisp cake (3 order minimum). We received a complimentary three items cold appetizer (seaweed, edemas, spicy radish), that was nice. The sesame crispy cake took 15 min to come, but worth the wait. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and no complain at all. I got lazy and didn't take pictures, please see Mandi T's pictures on Yelp. Overall, I am very happy with this place from service to food. They just opened in November 2018 and I hope they will never change their practice.

I figured since I came here during the soft opening, I should come back when things are up and swinging and update my review. Just went back last night with family and this place still has my endorsement. This time, we ordered sizzling squid, the dry fried green beans, shredded pork and bamboo, lamb soup, and of course, the sesame crisp cake. A bonus - they provided a starter of assorted marinated cold appetizers, which was a pleasant surprise and a nice balance to some of the spicier flavors of the main dishes. I can't remember if they provided this during the soft opening, so I was really pleased. The sizzling squid came on two skewers, with a nice chewy consistency, slightly spicy and a great cumin flavor. I think this is a great alternative to the omnipresent cumin lamb that's on nearly all northern cuisine menus if you're either not a lamb fan or you don't eat meat (like my sister). The shredded pork and bamboo was flavorful and well balanced. I think what they did really well with this dish was in dialing down the bamboo scent - sometimes bamboo can have a very strong taste or aroma which can be a little off putting. The bamboo in this dish was tender and delicious without being overwhelming. The lamb soup I actually thought could use a little more salt, but like the shredded pork and bamboo, they did a good job balancing out the muttony flavor. Not gamey at all, and improved with a dash of white vinegar which is provided on the tableside caddy. The dry fried green beans had a really nice garlic fragrance when it hit the table. A classic dish that you can't really go wrong with. And the sesame crisp cake? Still as good as I remember! This is a must have! I'm so in love with this - warm, thin and delicately flaky crispity layers on top of each other with a generous sprinkling of sesame. I could eat plates of this. They weren't too busy when we went this time, but I'm hoping they stick around because I'd like to keep coming back. I'm not from Northern China, so I can't comment on the authenticity of the food, but the service was friendly and accommodating, the prices are really reasonable, and I really appreciate that the food is not greasy and not overly salty. For example, the sesame crisp cake was not oily at all, so I imagine it's baked? Because how else do they get all those little golden crispy layers?? It's hard to find food in this area that's not too salty or oily and that makes me feel less guilty about eating out!

When you first walk into this place through it's open patio, it literally looks like a plant nursery. So many leaves that I almost thought I went to the wrong door. A closer look will reveal seatings surrounded by greens. Tucked behind is hole in the wall with a few tables and a kitchen separated by counter and fridge boxes. One server worked the front of house and dishes was taken out by back kitchen. Menu is two sided half sheet. Some items are crossed off. This is a new find for me and decided to sample a noodle dish, waternut dumplings, both sesame cake and sesame crisp cake, with the cold appetizer on the House. Everything came out nice and warm and most notably the yummy sesame crisp cake. They are addictive. Love the waternut dumplings too but the skin is a tad bit thicker for my liking. Cold appetizer was yummy and free. Sesame cake is good if you like bread. The noodles with soyabean sauce is good but a bit watery. I think they didn't shake the excess water out enough after cooking it. But it's good just bit watered down making it on the bland side. Thumbs up on the nice service, food freshness, and great value for the meal. I'm definitely coming back for different dishes.

Great new restaurant in Monterey Park! After reading the good reviews, I was excited to try this new restaurant. The inside is small, cozy, and clean. The food definitely did not disappoint. Everything was cooked wonderfully and full of flavor. We were also served with a complimentary cold dish while waiting for our food to arrive. Some of the standout foods we tried were: We ordered the crispy sesame cake, which was so delicious--light, crispy, and leaving you wanting more. We also requested the seafood noodle dry instead of with noodle. The noodles were chewy and cooked to perfection. All in all, I am so happy that there is a new place to eat with delicious food here in MPK! My family and I had a great meal here. Try it out and you will definitely be happy that you did. I will be returning again in the near future!

A grand opened North-Eastern Chinese cuisine restaurant, foods came out fast with a good portion and taste good. Price is very reasonable. Servers are very nice, they also gave complimentary cold dishes while we're waiting foods.
