Legit. Would recommend! Northeast Chinese styled food in Monterey Park, fairly easy to get from upon exiting hwy 10E, there's street parking and I think some parking in the rear too. I didn't have trouble finding parking on the street. The restaurant itself was not big but cozy, the decorations inside were interesting. People were pretty friendly and the restroom was clean. They prefer payment in cash (like most Asian restaurants) but will take credit card payments. The food was legit, tasty, and the portion size was good. If you enjoy Northeast Chinese food, I recommend this restaurant : ) If you have not tried Northeast Chinese food before, start with them. Here are my recommended dishes for first timers: - Twice fried pork (guo bao rou), a signature dish, the true sweet and sour pork in my opinion. If you like tangsuyuk you'll enjoy this dish. - Northeast style fried eggplant - Sour (fermented) cabbage and pork soup (similar to sauerkraut) - Pork belly, cabbage and wide clear noodle soup (if you like five spice flavor) - Northeast style three-vegetable stir fry (pepper, potatoes, and eggplant) - Soft fried pork tenderloin (batter is soft, fluffy, and light) - Cumin lamb or green onion lamb - Chicken with mushroom stew (usually comes in a pot) - Northeast style cold noodles (if you like Mul Naengmyum you'll like this, slightly sweeter than the Korean mul naengmyum) I enjoyed the food here and hope you will too : ) I recommend this restaurant!

We called for a to-go order. They make the wrong order and just say sorry afterward. We didn't want to make a scene, so we paid and left. But the experience was highly unpleasant.

Ordered a few stir fry here from Ubereat. Those r good but the guo bao rou as a signature dish (because everyone's ordering) was quite disappointing. The pieces are 80% batter so thick and detached from the pork inside. A few of them with no pork just batter....and it's so oily at the bottom.

Omg! This place's food is so good. It's my new favorite place for winter stews. I got the mushroom chicken and lamb this time. The food is so heavenly and price is very reasonable. So glad we have authentic Dongbei food in LA.

This used to be Shang Yang but has transformed into Guan Dong not to be confused with Guang Dong which is Cantonese. This is Northeastern Chinese cuisine. They offer fried silk worms which I will try in a larger group, so that if it turns out to be bad the mistake can be shared with others. Sharing is caring! The flavor here was good but tend be salty and greasy. This naturally comes with this type of cuisine although some restaurants do reduce their use of oil. The cumin lamb and eggplant both had good flavor but I would skip on the chicken bones. The chicken bones should be crispy and spiced up with cumin and 5 spice powder. Here, it is soggy with numbing spice, chilli and cilantro. Edible but not great. This hole in the wall is ethnic, rustic and not for the unadventurous.
My two fav dishes. The chicken stew with mushroom is full of flavor and goes well with rice. The pork belly with cabbage is great too!
