This 5 star rating was when they where called Shakas. Shakas was a great restaurant with great food. They closed and opend this place. Not that great. Wish they would bring Shakas back!!!

I'd like to day it was as good as the previous owner, Shakas but I'm not going , NEEDS HELP!!! spam musabi was really good but most everything went down hill from there on , Mac salad was virtually tasteless and l protein was way over cooked except chicken and the fried Simon was once again tasteless

Finally tried this place after they rebranded from Shakas. Food is still pretty much the same. We tried their teriyaki beef, mochiko chicken, fried saimin and their loco moco. Food was solid, heavy and generous portions. Definitely have leftovers for a few days now.

Outstanding or Horrific, I won't waste our time reviewing average. I have been a long long time fan of Shaka's, so when I heard about Nakas, I was really excited. I had tried it when they first opened, and I was so disappointed, BUT read on! It seems Nakas was off to a rough start and seemed to be trying to find their spot. My better 1/3 and I decided to give them another shot, and I'm really glad we did! We decided to share the Mochiko Chicken which is different than what Shaka's used to serve, but then again, this isn't Shaka's now is it? The Mochiko Chicken is deep fried chicken, then I think it's grilled with a light teriyaki style sauce. It's served over rice, and comes with mac salad which is awesome here, and some pickled daikon and carrots. All I can say is this dish really did it for us! I have since gone back and tried their teriyaki beef. It hits about average for me, but that Mochiko Chicken is the ticket and will keep me coming back for more. The guy at the register was cool as hell and made the visit very comfortable. We have been searching for some good Hawaiian food, and Nakas has been added to our list.

Really really tasty. It's nice to see the business coming b back to its roots. The chicken Sando sandwich rocks and the Naka plate was more than I could eat.

Naka's has continued to delight my taste buds. The service has been caring and quick. This is a weekly "go to" for me. I am grateful to the chef that keeps bringing back the Japanese-Hawaiian flavors to enjoy. Thank you.

Love this place...Whenever I'm on the eastside of LA, I always try to swing by here on the way home, especially after a round of golf. Joel really knows how to put a great Hawaiian grind plate together...

Food tasted spoiled, ordered the nakas plate and they forgot to put the spam musubi, this place changed in the way they make their food, very bland and not cooked all the way through specially the pork.

Shaka's reborn as Naka's; there are so many various reviews that I'll stick with my own experience -- which is All Good.

We drove from 40 miles, on a FRIDAY to try this place. It did not disappoint. The customer service was beyond excellent. The food was soooo delicious. I had the Loco Moco and my husband had the Mochiko chicken and bacon fried rice. It was fresh, seasoned, and savory. We enjoyed every bite. They even gave us a FREE shaved ice ? DELICIOUS. This was worth the drive in traffic. ?
