Ordered a bun bo mong huyet to go. The order came out quickly and was well packed. Reheated the soup and noodles at home and thought it was pretty decent. Not a must visit but if you’re in the area, you could do worse.

Rude and dishonest restaurant owner. Charges 16% for tax FOR TAKE OUT while CA tax is only 7.25%. My food total was $28 and he charged $32. I asked how much is tax? He said "16%". No receipt was given. Maybe he thought I was a visitor. And this place is CASH ONLY, just don't hope your tax money goes into the state. And for food, look at yourself, crumpled rice, taste is horrible. Don't ever come.

I ordered the popular bun bo hue here. I would say I was disappointed. #1. The bowl size is a little small. #2. The flavor is too plain #3. Few pieces of meat #4. Little veggies (and no mints) #5. Price is high for a small bowl of plain bun Bo hue. The owner charged me for an ice water. All restaurants' water are free except for this restaurant. This is the first time I have experienced and charged for a glass of plain water. First time here and will not be coming back. I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because this place opens early at 7 am.

Hole in a wall, No frills and nothing pretentious…just delicious, honest, simple, and traditional comfort northern Vietnamese style food. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and only ordered #5 Mi Quang Nam. It’s that damn good.

Love their special for the day. But service is mediocre. Wish they were open at least until 8pm. But they close early

Great mom & pop place. #1 Bun Bo Hue was tasty. Also would recommend the #5 Mi Quang Nam-egg noodles were good. Please be aware they charge $1 for filtered ice water (refillable). There’s always a special of the day.

this restaurant is incredible :) we were staying at the courtyard right next door and went to huge tree pastry for breakfast one morning, but noticed that this charming noodle place was opened right next door at the crack of dawn, so decided to give it a try! we went on a saturday and got their saturday bun rieu special, which came out in promptly like 3 minutes (probably cause they had the soup already good to go). the portion was huge, tons of thicker noodles and veggies to accompany the generous serving of soup. the soup itself was so so so so good!! my exact type of taste, very tomato forward with a beautiful undertone of seafood and pork. the actual soup itself didn't have a ton of meat in it, but for 11 dollars after tax, it was PERFECT for breakfast!! they also gave a ton of veggies and their homemade chili crab paste reminded me a lot of super tasty sambals ive had in the past, and it was delicious and warming to eat in the morning! was such a huge fan and would definitely frequent this place often if i lived close by :)

Don't expect much from this place. What you see is what you get. The food is mediocre. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue. It has some flavor, but it is weak. It did have a pretty strong lemongrass aroma, but that was mainly it. The noodles were fine, but slightly overcooked. The meat is dry, bland, and overcooked. Not to be dramatic, but the sheer mediocrity of the food was a bit upsetting. However, the environment is pretty off-putting. While it may be typical for a Vietnamese restaurant, it is way more off-putting than other Vietnamese restaurants. The interior is cramped, bustling, and old. I was sat at a long table with other customers with absolutely no social distancing. There was people smoking cigarettes right outside the entrance, which easily finds its way into the restaurant. The service is not great. The staff aren't super friendly and welcoming. While admittedly there was a bit of a language barrier, I still would've appreciated a bit more hospitality. They are cash only, which while is commonplace at a lot of restaurants, is a pretty huge downside regardless. The pricing, however, is average. In all honesty, this place is more-so for older Vietnamese folk to get their quick fix and to socialize with their friends. If you are on the younger side, this place isn't really for you. It isn't really a great family restaurant as well. Granted, this place has been around for quite a long time, so it is old-school. While I would give this place three-stars for the quality of food, I am pretty off-put by the additional facts stated above. I recommend that you stay far away from this place.
