Be very careful if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences!Their "boursin potato souffle" includes bacon. This information is NOT included on their menu! When I pointed out that that's a serious problem for people (like me) who don't eat pork—whether they're vegetarian or religious, or for other reasons—the server said that this is **not the first time** this has been brought to their attention! How hard is it to update single-sheet paper menus or make sure your staff gives people a heads up when they order the dish? Not that hard.Otherwise the meal was fine, the service overall was good, but this entirely ruined the restaurant for me, as I ended up 1) unintentionally eating some pork, and 2) unable to eat the food I ordered. So, go if you don't care to know what's in the food you're eating. If it matters to you to be able to make informed decisions about what you put in your mouth, go elsewhere or ask LOTS of questions.

The food was amazing. We were a bit skeptical because the day before we tried two different food places that ended up not being very good. But everything about our meal was delicious here. A great way to end our weekend trip to Monterey!

Food was sub par, not the usual. Lobster was described as 7 ounce but was about 4 ounces. The Mac nut Mahi, which I always order bc it's so good, wasn't this time. It's supposed to be CRUSTED but the Mac nut was a scoop on top of the fish, the peanut sauce didn't have any flavor.

Our prime rib dinner was delicious! We had the baked potato (instead of mashed) and creamed spinach with our prime rib. We ordered the smallest prime rib cut and it was large! It was done perfectly medium rare. The first course of clam chowder was very good. The mini lava cake for dessert was so good! Garrett was our waiter and he did an excellent job! Just one suggestion for the manager: please dim the lights! We have been to the Chart House many times — this was the first time the lighting was brighter than it should have been.

Fantastic dinner and great service! I was on a business trip for a Realtor Conference and managed to get a reservation here on Valentine's Day! I had the filet with a starter salad. The food was delicious and my server was very attentive. The rooms and bar were very nicely appointed and the salad bar is something you don't see very often anymore, so that was a welcome site. If I had more time, I would have come back for that. There were only two negatives for me. The first one, which is outside of their control, was that it was pitch black dark outside by the time I had dinner after my evening meetings, so I was not able to see what I suspect was a fantastic view. Unfortunately, they are not open for lunch, so I couldn't see it then. The second is that they were the only restaurant that I visited during my trip that did not have a cash discount. Most of the shops, whether it be restaurants or souvenir stores had a cash discount, which is very nice to see.Aside from that, I had a very enjoyable dinner and recommend this restaurant.Parking: Parking was difficult to find. Several of the lots were for employees only. I ended up finding parking in front of the Monterey Bay Hotel a couple blocks away. Luckily the meters stop at 8pm, so I only had to pay for an hour due to my late dining time. $1.50 per hour.

I always enjoy a meal at the Chart House. The views are amazing. I enjoy their salad bar. I had a filet mignon and it was very tender and flavorful.

There are three elements that make a great restaurant, each of equal importance. The first of these elements is food but of equal importance is service and finally ambience. In our past visits the Chart House has delivered on all three. Sadly our most recent visit was a disappointment. We'd made our reservation for 8:15 and arrived about five minutes early. Upon checking in we were told it would be a few minutes so we sat down to wait. It is hard not to notice how beautifully appointed the restaurant is. The wood crafted ceiling is stunning and the crisp, well placed lighting highlight not only the inside but allows you to see out over the Monterey Bay even at night. We were called to the table after a short wait. In past experience we've enjoyed excellent service but tonight our waiter appeared distracted and not at all engaged. We asked for water while we decided on a cocktail. The restaurant was busy but did not appear to be slammed but it took a long time for the water to come back and even longer for the cocktails. Once our order was taken we waited and waited, and waited for our food. In our reservation, made that morning, we requested a seat by the window so we could enjoy the view. Sadly, we were seated in a small booth for two next to a table of four that towered on a level several feet above us. The adjacent table was so close that there was no element of their conversation we couldn't hear. We might as well have been seated with strangers at the same table. Before our food arrived we knew the relationship of the four people, the age of the man who's birthday they were celebrating, and who ultimately was going to pick up the bill and an argument as to how much to tip their waiter. When our food finally arrived it was at least what we have come to expect here. My swordfish was perfectly cooked and delicious as was my wife's steak. The party seated above us had finally left albeit after an extended conversation about the plumbing problem in their new house. Finally it felt we might be back on track for a nice evening. Our waiter came by to inquire about our meal and then disappeared not to return until long after we had finished our meal. We sat for almost 20 minutes with empty plates and cocktail glasses in front of us. One of the hi lights of the Chart House is a house special dessert they call a volcano cake. Many places have a version of this dessert but we've found none better than here. The soft spongy cake with a warm liquid chocolate center topped with ice cream is so worth the calories. You have to order this dessert 30 in advance so when we placed our entree order we requested the cake. After waiting so long after finishing our entree we were looking forward to at least having this wonderful dessert. However, when our waiter finally came around he presented the check and with a distracted, "Take your time." Walked away. We thought maybe to bring us the dessert. When he didn't return I inspected the check thinking that perhaps he'd forgotten that we ordered dessert. At that point we were tired and ready to just pay up and leave but in fact we had been charged for the cake so we waited for him to finely return. I was going to just ask him to adjust the check so we could be on our way. I said, "We ordered the Volcano Cake," and before I could finish the sentence I heard him say, "Right" as he hurried away with our check in hand. After another 15 minutes or so he reappeared with the cake. We thought okay, at least we'd end the night with this dessert we so loved. Disappointingly the cake was over baked, dry, and without a trace of the gooey chocolate center. We eat a few bites paid the check and left. While waiting we'd overheard more than one table complain about their experience. We've loved this restaurant in the past and sincerely hope that our current experience is just a one off but I'm not sure we'll be back anytime soon.

We spent 5 days in Pacific Grove for the winter, and each wound up getting a cold by day two. Five days is too much for this area - we could have seen everything there is to see in half a day, but I digress. On our final night in town, I wanted me a tasty meal at a classy joint, and after reading a few reviews, we wound up here on a Thursday evening around 6:30. Of course, we didn't bother making reservations, and there was an hour's wait, but the hostess said we could order dinner at the bar, so we did. The bartender, Marcus, promptly took our drank orders, and my wife discovered her new favorite drink, a pomegranate martini. We were impressed with the extensive wine list and the wide variety of spirits on hand. I ordered the prime rib and my wife selected the blackened salmon. Both were fairly standard. Unremarkable but not bad. The prime rib was more grissly than I would have liked. Honestly I think I could make better at home. All in all, The Chart House is a classy restaurant with good service, a nice view, and white tablecloths. It's probably enough to impress your wife if she's into that sort of thing after a long day of wandering around the aquarium, but you could just go home and fire up the Traeger.
