If you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in Monterey looking for sushi and end up in Crystal Fish thank whatever God you pray to and then just start ordering until you can't fit in your pants anymore! This place is absolutely amazing. I consider myself quite the sushi snob and I have yet to be disappointed by the quality, the flavor, the presentation, or the portion. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The menu is robust enough to make for a difficult choice but not so voluminous that you just feel lost. I come to Monterey once a year for 3 days for an event and I eat here all 3 nights!Parking: Who cares! Even if you have to park a mile away, the food is worth it. And you'll need the walk after because you'll be so full. BECAUSE THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!

Been here a few times while I was still a resident of California. Now as a resident of Minnesota I am here on vacation and I remember enjoying this place. My husband and I ordered the omakase sushi dinner last. Even though the fish was basic it was delicious and fresh! The grilled hamachi kama was delicate and yummy. And one roll we had if was green something but it had salmon, jalapeño and lemon on top. The bottom had shisho, asparagus, cucumber ?? It was nice and refreshing. Presentation was fabulous.

Well, we came here for dinner as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) after spending a day at the aquarium. 3 ordered Tempura Udon. One ordered the Chicken Teriyaki.Overall, the portions were good size (a plus). The Tempura Udon’s broth was one sweeter side. There was not enough dashi flavored and way too much broth and chunky seaweed compared to the udon. We liked that the tempura on the side. However the tempura was greasy and the oil that was used was old. The tempura was brown due to old, used oil. The tempura was not first drained on paper.As for the Chicken Teriyaki, huge chicken breast. Not hot or enough time on the grill. Teriyaki sauce was on the sweeter side. Lots of steamed veggies and a good size color full salad. Not Japanese.The green tea was HOT and flavorful.The positive was the waitress. She was attentive and worked the room. She came to us often to see what we wanted to order and how we were doing.

This place is sooo good!! Everything we ordered was delicious and so fresh. Portion sizes were great for the price and the service was excellent. We were there on a Sunday night and there was no wait, but I can see how it could get very busy and be a long wait on other days or the weekend. It’s a pretty small place, simple but very cute decor. We loved everything about it!

Total $54. 2 orders of rolls with requested real crab and 1 mixed tempura each. We came back here again cos I have been craving fried rolls and tempura. Their rolls tasted fresh but lacked flavor. We don't know if we would be back. On to the next!
