Chili verde is great! And I absolutely love the homemade flour tortillas! But the burrito now only comes with meat, rice, and beans so anything extra will cost you (cheese, salsa, lettuce, etc). And don’t come here SUPER hungry because they are pretty small, but so is the price.

I frequent their Salinas location. They did not disappoint. Definitely recommend a thousand times over. Also, can't beat the price for amazing food.
The food at El Charrito is really excellent, after nearly four years of looking for a great burrito in Monterey, this is the best bar none.It is sharing a kitchen with Alejandro on Alvarado (so it's a breakfast and lunch only place), but you have to access it from the back street, there's plenty of parking, when thought it's Saturday.It's important to note that this is a to-go only place, there's no seating.

Ordered a carne asada burrito with Pico and Avocado.Meat was great, pico was good but I wish there was a better ratio of asada to Pico. Burrito was a little smaller than I am use to go a good Mexican burrito but the price was reflected in the smaller burrito. Great place to grab a quick burrito.

i order my burritos vegan style - bean & rice burrito with cabbage, pico de gallo, salsa verde and guacamole. it is still so tasty.disclaimer: the burrito might not actually be 100% vegan depending on what ingredients they use.i would LOVE to see El Charrito Express offer a legit vegan option, like with mushroom asada.

I drove out to Salinas from Santa Cruz for the OG El Charrito. Then ended up going to the express location in Monterey the next day. The flavors are very close. The edge goes to the OG location. I think the tortillas are a little better there. But still very good in Monterey!
