We have been here a few times and have had a good experience. This last time was very disappointing and left me embarrassed. I sent my steak back twice because it was mid rare and bright red when I ordered it medium well. Afterwards, two other employees besides our waiter approached our table and made comments about the "steak o rama," as quoted by them which was inappropriate. One comment from the manager that came off passive aggressive was "we did try a few times..." as she made a face. Will not be returning.

Had a really nice time, food was really good and so was the service. Definitely recommended the chocolate lava cake with ice cream for dessert.

Normally, I wouldn't be caught dead at a shopping mall, much less go there to eat, but I won a raffle prize of a gift card for a breast cancer charity. So, here we go:I got the macadamia nut encrusted halibut. Normally I prefer savory seasonings with my protein, but this is island style, meaning sugar. Mango salsa. It was well prepared and the presentation was good. The vegetables were al dente. I like that, but if you like your veggies more well done, this is not your place. The cocktails are creative and good. If you want to try something you've never had, you can probably find something here that you will like. The mixologist makes many of his ingredients by hand. The flavor combinations are unique. The prices are moderate to somewhat expensive. Overall, a decent value, but you can probably do better. The ambience is fine, but I wouldn't choose this for a hot date. Again, with a little effort, you could probably do better.UPDATE:I had less than $10 on my gift card, so I decided to simply cash it in, instead of having it kick around in my car indefinitely. The hostess told me it could only be redeemed for food or drinks. I politely informed her that CA state law required her to refund in cash the card value if it was less than $10. She got kind of huffy and didn't want to do it, but I remained calm and reiterated that it was state law. (Google ca gift card law). She reluctantly refunded my $9, but pointedly didn't give me the $0.28 balance. I didn't want to quibble. But it was mind-boggling how petty and passive-aggressive she was over a trivial amount of money. Needless to say, I won't ever be back.

Love this spot!!!I stopped in for lunch by myself while out running errands and was NOT disappointed. The mellow Hawaiian vibes put me in a good mood as soon as I walked in the door. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp off the lunch menu and a passion fruit margarita and they hit the spot ???.My eyes are always bigger than my stomach so I thought I might order two items but the salad was absolutely perfect. The lettuce was fresh, the dressing was very tasty and the 3 jumbo shrimp were cooked perfectly. It also had some cherry tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, croutons and a couple of anchovies on top. Because of the richness of the dressing and shrimp I was comfortably full when I left. The margarita was tart and sweet, had the perfect amount of black salt and even crunchy ice. Delicious ?. The icing on the cake was the staff. Edward was my server and he was very professional and it's always great to see Steven and Frank.Next time I'll take pictures.Parking: In Del Monte Shopping Center so it can be a challenge if you visit during peak hours/days.Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of tables that would easily accommodate a wheelchair.

We were greeted warmly by the owner and his wife, who have had a chain of restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula for 50 years. This restaurant atmosphere is sort of the culmination of all his restaurant prowess, From the beautifully curated Hawaiian themed decorations that created such a wonderful ambience of the islands the staff is super attentive and helpful

If you're looking for an experience you definitely want to go to Kona. If you're looking for high quality food, that's tasty hot and fresh then you want to go to Kona. If you want service that's head and shoulders above average and you want to go to Kona. Went there for lunch, had the locomoco which was amazing. Rice with Angus beef topped with mushrooms two eggs and brown gravy, doesn't get any better than that. My lunch partner had the steak slider which also looked incredible. They brought out dessert over dry ice which blue are mines, and then we had the lemon meringue bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with raspberry sauce and topped with whipped cream, the whole experience was just over the top incredible. Highly highly recommend you check this place out and enjoy a wonderful meal like we did, we will definitely be back, we will definitely tell friends customers and family about Kona.Parking: Plenty of free parking, the close spots were taken so we had to walk a little bit but it was no big deal, lots of available spots open even during the peak of lunch

Came by for Happy Hour and again a few days later for lunch. The sliced calamari (steaks) were Krispy & flavorful, especially with ranch dressing! The shredded pork BBQ sandwich w/battered fries had a nice flavor - fries were great. My wife had the pork tacos and said they were mostly good, just lacking flavor. The hamburger for lunch was a chargrilled patty with lots of flavor. Note that the onions on the burger are sweet, as is the bun & kona sauce. The bun is great! My personal preference is to taste the beef. I'd axe the onions & sauce and add mustard. We had salad verses fries (extra cost). The salad was very well thought out and was delish!!Finally, the portion size, the atmosphere & service are all great. There's plenty of choices on the menu. Prices are very reasonable. We will return and try new items, maybe fish n chips!

OH MY GOD! I was in town for five days for a Realtor convention and I ate here for four meals and brought a large group of my fellow Realtors with me one of the nights. That's how amazing this place is. I only wish that I could rate this higher than 5 stars. The food had incredible flavor, the desserts were out of this world and the shaved ice WITH ICE CREAM INSIDE was unbelievable! I cannot speak highly enough about this place. On my final trip, the table next to me had an accident where one of the plates fell and the waitress impressed me with how professional and on top of it she was.So where do I start. On the first visit I was there for lunch. The waitress was incredible. I had the fried rice plate with chicken. It was fantastic. My second visit was that night with a group of six. I must have updated that reservation ten times as people confirmed and schedules changed (including that day at lunch) and the staff was very understanding and happy to work with me. I had the fillet, easily one of the best I've EVER had... and I've been to some incredible steak houses across America and Europe. The Bernaise sauce had a special seasoning on it that really made it pop. Some of our group got seafood, others got the fried rice entree, all were very thankful that I invited them as they loved the food. One of our group got (and thankfully shared) the creme brulee in the pineapple for dessert which was amazing. The rest of us had shaved ices which were incredible. The kiddie size was enough for us and the $1 for adding the ice cream inside was more than worth it! One of our group needed gluten free vegetarian options and there were SO MANY OPTIONS for her to choose from, she was very happy. My third trip was for another fillet. This time I started with the honey buns and had the Hula Pie for dessert. WOW! Just wow. You need to get this.My fourth and final trip was on the way out of town for another shaved ice, this time with Macadamia Nut ice cream inside. If lightning had struck me after that, I would have died a VERY happy man! They also have a cash discount!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: They have a ton of Gluten Free options. My traveling buddy who needed Gluten Free Vegetarian food had TONS of options!Parking: The restaurant is located at the front of the mall, next to the Pottery Barn and next to CPK. There is plenty of parking in the center.

Stopped in for a weekday lunch and sat at the bar. Juan, the bartender was amazing. He was very observant and attentive and you could tell he cared about the quality of his customer’s experience. I ordered the crab rangoons and a seafood pasta that was delicious. I will definitely be back!Parking: There is plenty of free mall parking close to the restaurant.
