Wow! What a treat! Morning bun, lemon tart, two cake slices and a chicken pesto sandwich. All super tasty, good ingredients and care put into their creation. Very cute space and friendly staff as well. Worth a stop if you'd like a tasty lunch!

I was here last year and loved it so came back as I was traveling through the area. It’s early morning but I was given lukewarm coffee. When I asked if there was hot coffee or if I could have it warmed up the guy didn’t care, gave me a tiny bit more which was also cold. Too bad I tipped him as I paid. Please serve hot coffee unless someone wants a lukewarm cup at full price. And get rid of the unprofessional guy handling customers. Pastries are ok but not like last time. Very sad to see a cute place go downhill.April 10 2024.

Fantastic French cafe eats and coffee drinks. The setting is so Van Gogh. Perhaps it has views of the water from the unaccessible upper floors but it’s a quaint little place and is part of Monterey’s eclectic make-up. If you have a B’day coming up their French cakes are divine too.

As a self-proclaimed bakery aficionado, and having lived in Monterey ~ 25 years, I have tried every bakery within 25 miles and any notable bakery with 3 counties. I know their hours, tried their specialties, waited in lines (when lines were a few locals not a London-esque que) and I have my favorites. Overall, it is Parker Lusseau hands down. There are a few other notables I will visit for a specific favorite item on rare occasion or on Sundays when PL is closed but 90+% of my bakery dollars are spent at PL. During a blissful and indulgent season, PL opened a satellite cafe in Ryan Ranch, which since dangerously close to my office I went almost daily for cappuccino or cafe mocha and quiche and / or danish. Shameful yes, but such fond memories. Makes me want to weep at the loss. Is PL my favorite bakery in the world? Any traveler knows the sad truth is that NOTHING we have in the US can compete with European bakeries period. They just have superior ingredients and food standards but Parker Lusseau is a local bakery with European trained bakers so it's the closest thing to it locally. What's good? Of course, I have my favorite and although I have this one true love I have had indulged in periodic dalliances and fancies over time. You can't go wrong with any of their quiches and I'm saying this as a quiche averse person however, PL quiches have converted me into a fan. Not a fan of quiches. That would be absurd but a fan of Parker Lusseau quiches which are in a category of their own. My favs? Sun-dried Tomato Goat Cheese (seasonal), Salmon something (forgive my forgetfulness of what it was combined with but I've only seen this fantastic salmon quiche one season. It was divine though). Even though I don't like mushrooms in general and asparagus quiche didn't appeal to me of course I've had the Mushroom Leek and Asparagus quiche and they are also delicious! But an old standby for yummy savory perfection is the Quiche Lorraine. Ham, cheese, minced or slivered onions, buttery crust and a hint of sweetness. Where does that sweetness come from? Vidalia onions? ‍IDK but it's chefs kiss perfection. Favorite Pastry? Everyone has their preferences. Many love the Morning Bun or Almond Croissant but my preferences have a season. I spent quite a few seasons preferring and adoring the delicate flakiness and delightful filling of the lovely Pettivier. The Almond Croissant is an occasional indulgence when I crave something sweet and satiating. Sugary slices of toasted almonds, thick almond filling saturated the pastry layers. It's dense and filling. Beignet season is about the only thing that catapults me out of bed early (because they sell out) and I relish a seasonal fruit croissant (esp nectarine, pluot and rhubarb), but home sweet home is always their Kouign Amann. If home was a delicate, sweet and perfectly decorated sunny French Pied-a-Terre on the Côte d'Azur. Seemingly inconspicuous golden brown crunchy top with a delicate sweet and buttery tenderness and hard sugar crust. Delicious! On any given visit, I typically choose whichever quiches suit my fancy and a handful of danishes to last over the weekend bc they are closed Sundays. Other local notable local bakeries (specifically for danishes as there are a many who make incredible bread but we're talking indulgent breakfasts here!): LaFayette, Pavel's (except they are down to being open only 2 days a week which I applaud the bakers/owners quality of life decision - Hey Johanna! I miss your mastery of color in the salon days! ) and maybe if you feel like enjoying the sun in a lovely garden and want to wait in line for a pricey coffee or bakery item: Alta. I love many things about Alta. I love the fact that it's in historic Cooper Molera (but PL is also in a building if historic significance). I love the fact that they adorn the walls of their indoor dining area with local art (or used to - haven't been inside in a while). I LOVE their garden on sunny days but when it comes to baked goods, breakfast/brunch ite

Pastries? YASSSS! Coffee? YASSSSS! VIBE? YASSS! Just wish their place it bigger. WiFi? Not sure (haven't tried ) I LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! You seriously can't go wrong with their pastries, cakes etc. YOU WONT FIND A BETTER QUICHE ANYWHERE ELSE! Almond croissants are way better than Paris Bakery. It's perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and butter on the inside. Apple galette is also amazinggg! Enclair is soo good you'll feel guilty eating it. Try anything that catches your eye and I promise that u won't regret the calories. I was surprised how good their coffee was and no wonder because they use ACME coffee (local coffee shop in seaside that makes awesome beans) Staff is also very friendly. They get busy for a reason but they never make u feel rush to order. I only wish they open a bigger spot or maybe make the upstairs a part of their sit down spot. THERE IS A REASON US LOCALS LOVE THIS SPOT. COME HERE! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
