So meeting a good friend today "in the middle"-- my house to Morgan Hill, same for him. I hadn't been to MH is eons and it's grown. Off the 101 on Tennant road down a short bit on Monterey HWY. (old 101). Pretty common strip mall establishments offering services, food stores, gas stations, the usual. Tucked inside Tennant Sq is GOKU sushi. A small location serving, well, sushi. Varied menu with all the usuals, some very interesting. It's a table type place, no sushi counter, chef, or chefs hidden from patron view. Service by one ( on our visit) young lady, ( family?) very Efficient. We hadn't been seated 2 minutes and she asked if we're ready to order. Not, yet...Any we got situated and spent some time trying to figure out how much to order. Asked her about sushi rolls portion, and she walked over to the next table and pointed at what they were eating. Slightly weird but No One seemed bothered by anything. We picked a few items, 2+special rolls, Miso, Unagi Hand Rolled and a salmon app. Food was pretty darn good. So I'd stretch and give food a 4, 3 overall because service, setting, environment counts -- unless I was just buying food off a food truck. Right. Look I Evaluate anyplace with an overall score in my mind as the whole experience. Food a Big part and this was good food. For the area that's a Very Good. But if I were in a larger city, say, San Jose and in Japan Town, then it would be 3. Fresher, better looking, etc. I'd come back --= it's pretty dark in there BTW, don't know why. Have fun - you'll be in and out in less than an hour,

Smelled a little fishier than I'm used to but tasted good and I didn't get sick Super friendly and fast service. Love the variety. Will be back.

Service was lacking. Had no plan or sense of organization for when it's busy. The food was sloppy and the fish tasted old. They forgot a part of my order but it would have tasted off if they had put it in I bet.

We've tried this place a few times in person and for takeout. Both times we dined in we had horrible service. The waitress avoiding us immediately after ordering even though she was going to check if a food item was available or not. Waited over an hour for our food to come out from a food runner and only after we told her we need our waitress did she come to our table. We inquired on the food item from the kids menu she was going to check on and she said oh yeah, it's not available. She also never brought our daughter's drink out. So after an hour of waiting and now we have our food our daughter has nothing and is hungry. Also both times I have ordered a salad and never got it. The food is good but it's not good enough to make up for the service and dining experience.

We ordered takeout through Doordash. The food was not that good... the taste and quality wasn't what I expected. Our vegetable tempura was no longer crunchy and it seemed like the sweet potato wasnt that cooked yet because it was still hard.m and the Shrimp size was very small. The sushi was whatever... We usually order from Sushi Ichiban but they were closed today. I don't think I would order here again....

Delicious food! The salmon tasted very fresh and was beautifully plated. It paired well with the golden radish, black fish eggs, and jalapenos. However the jalapenos gave quite a punch! So if you order this get ready for something spicy. The ambiance is just okay. To be honest it took me awhile to come here because the curb appeal could use a little help. It's not ugly, but it is rather mediocre. The service was good. They were attentive. The price point though, it's rather expensive. I probably won't come here often just for that reason. But my kid likes it, so I'll probably only come when she wants to.

Goku Sushi pleasantly surprised us with its exceptional service, unbeatable prices (seriously, they are the best sushi deal in town!) and delightful menu offerings. Located in the former Mountain Mike's space, it's quickly becoming a local favorite for satisfying sushi cravings without breaking the bank. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering some hidden gems on the menu. The Mango Roll and Climax were our personal favorites, each bite bursting with flavor and freshness.Overall, Goku Sushi is not just another sushi spot; it's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. While it may not be the place for fancy occasions, it certainly satisfies the monthly sushi fix with its outstanding service, good prices, and menu surprises.

Horrible service. We called to place an order over the phone and when the person answered they said they couldn't take the order and hung up. We then proceeded to place the order online instead. It took over one hour for our order to be ready and when we picked it up one item was missing and another item was completely wrong.

Another sushi option in Morgan Hill... Better than ichiban and much cheaper too. Katsu is on point... even more so the katsu sauce is fantastic. Love the salad dressing better here as well. Took the boys here ( 8 and 10yrs) the first time, mama and I for lunch the second time. Didn't disappoint either time. My boys even got a little brave and tried my nigiri... their faces were priceless.

Our family went here for the first time tonight and we were very pleasantly surprised. We weren't sure how it would be because Morgan Hill doesn't have the best reputation for sushi compared to the San Jose area. The food we ordered was all very fresh, well presented and delicious! We ordered the crunchy mango roll, lion king roll, house salad, salmon nigiri, garlic edamame, and vegetable udon soup. We could tell by the flavors and presentation that everything was extremely well prepared and the flavors were spot on. We've been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years from super high end to typical hole in the wall and this falls into the middle range for decor and pricing... which it not a knock on them. it's a place you can come to regularly and not break the bank. I hope they stick around for a long time because this place will be our new go to for sushi in town. Well done!

Newer place in Morgan Hill as of winter 23/24. Been here twice. We really like the Sushi here and consider it the best in Morgan Hill. Usually have the specialty rolls. Last time also had the cucumber salad which was very good.

Very solid four star sushi. Service was excellent. There are a few small points to reaching five stars IMHO. * The mango in the mango roll was almost non existent. Please put in larger pieces of mango so we can get a bit of the flavor mix. * Caterpillar roll was somehow bland. It had a ton of rice and the rice (unlike some other reviews claiming the rice fell apart) was super compact, resulting in even more rice per piece! Seems like we got rice that had not sugar or vinegar mix in it. The mixed plate was perfect though as shown in the photo. It had great garnish and presentation while the rolls were very plain in comparison. I would return for another shot at this place.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Chef was extremely attentive and there to make his customers happy. Food was also delicious which is also a plus :)

GASLIGHTING WAITER I wanted to love this place because of how few sushi places Morgan hill has. Came in with a party of 6, on a weekday at noon when it was empty, and we all ordered 2 rolls each. The waiter returned and brought my friend a 3rd roll she didn't order. He insisted and gaslit her aggressively and said she ordered this mango roll as well. The waiter even made up a fake story about how she listed 3 rolls and said them in a specific order. 5 minutes later he returns to say the roll was actually mine and was the Morgan hill roll. By this point only half was left. They did absolutely nothing to make up for it, did not offer to make a new roll or even provide the missing pieces. Of course accidents happen, but the waiter blamed it on my friend in the moment knowing it wasn't the truth and he couldn't even correctly identify the most popular roll! I wish I had stuck up for myself and refused the roll that I had to pay full price for. The food was mediocre and there are much better sushi restaurants in San Jose. Hospitality is a huge factor in restaurants, and more than anything I am upset he blamed my friend and tried to intimidate her so she wouldn't complain and would just pay for a roll she didn't order. I will not be returning .
