“This was our 2nd visit to the Wooden Nickel and it was awesome! We sat at the bar and Mariah waited on us. She was delightful. I had the skirt steak open faced sandwich with cole slaw, fries and chocolate cake, and it was exactly what I wanted! Lots of great food and a fun atmosphere. Had a chance to chat with Leann as well - their wait staff are so friendly! If you get a chance to go, do it! You’ll be happy you did!“

“BEST meal of our 3 week Road Trip. Truly wondeful food. We had the roast head of garlic as a starter, then split the lboulliabaise for the main course. It's rare to see it on a menu anywhere and this was excellent. The service was top notch and the place was calm and quiet.“

“Well where do I start...these past two weeks haven't been great. Our family is going thru the loss of a loved family member. That means I'm back in my hometown...Salinas, Ca. catching up with friends and family. After a long day we needed to just sit have a cocktail and eat some food. We pick a place that none of us had been to, it winded up be the highlight of the week. This place was such a delight and everything we needed. The Last Call Bar and Grill should be the first call, last call and every call in between. They simply just do it right without making it overly complicated! Quench your thirst, grab a pint of beer on tap or finely mixed top shelf cocktail. Now, let's talk food, not just any food but the basics...I'm talking french fries. Now if you can make a sliced up potatoe taste this delightful with an eye pleasing nice golden crisp on the outside and a fluffy moist (non-greasy mind you) fry with a spinkle of coarse kosher salt, dusting of ground black pepper and pinch of bright green parsley dance with flavor like this...you have more than just a line cook back in the kitchen, you have a chef confident in his skills. I'm talking fries made 7 different ways from the entry levels french fry to the Voodoo Fries (seasoned cajun fries topped with white velvet cheese, diced bell peppers (red, yellow and green) green onions & four blackened cajun shrimp) and other equally tasty appetizers. If that doesn't get you running to The Last Call well then let's continue. This is what we had during our three visits in one week with with multiple people. Appetizer: fries, Voodoo fries, sweet potato fries, calamari and spring roll comboEntree: tacos (carnitas, fish, chicken and steak), chicken strips, chicken alfredo pizza, last call burger, cold roast beef sandwich and bbq tri-tipSurprise entree from the Chef...it hasn't been added to the menu at the time this posting. All I can say it's a wrap with lite well balanced flavorful sauce that will leaving you wanting more. But, that's par for the course at The Last Call you will leave being a new regular and planning what you're going to order when you next swing by just like us. Be sure to tell the GM Raul that Sonny Ray sent you. I'll conclude by simply saying reading items on the menu doesn't sum up the how great the food is taste. So, order a drink and fries and really decide the two or three entrees you want eat...lol...it really is a tough decision!!!“

“sis and I stopped here for a late lunch on the way down to Monterey. the place was not crowded, but service was still a little slow. still, the meals were delish! definitely try the castroville artichoke appetizer. so good! the chicken enchiladas were middle of the road. my sister got a dish from the specials menu that involved shrimp and grape leaves. really tasty! we also enjoyed the house margarita and chips/salsa. overall a great experience and would def recommend a stop here for a meal.“
