I am so frustrated with Turbo Tax support that I am writing this review. I have been attempting to file a second amended tax return for 2021. Turbo Tax has "lost" my documents somewhere, due, I am certain to a software bug. I have the federal amendment return, but the state (of Colorado) has never been seen. I've now spent 5 hours on the phone with support. The last person I talked to basically told me I was lying and hung up on me! Does anyone know how I can get a document to file this amended return?

Intuit and other companies offering tax preparation services have lobbied the US government for years to prevent the IRS from introducing a free filing service. Most if not all other peer countries have such a free tax filing service. Intuit can take our money, but they will not have our respect. Vote for politicians who will support free filing with the IRS and are not compromised by corporate money.

I really hope this saves someone from the nightmare that I went through.Their software can't even properly handle a household with 2 separate HSA accounts (it is more beneficial for my wife and I to have our own insurance through our respective employers). Doing my taxes last year, TurboTax reported that I over-contributed even though I did not. I called their support waited for 3 hours - after an hour of walking their rep through the steps she finally acknowledged there was a bug and that she would report it. She gave me a workaround, but "lo and behold" this year when I went to do my taxes, TurboTax said I over-contributed last year and therefore have to pay an extra penalty. After calling support again they were dismissive and refused to address my issue. I have a relatively complex filing and didn't find this out till about 7 or 8 hours in to my taxes. Their strategy is clearly to make you invest a lot of time before they tell you they are going to screw you over because they know that most of us don't have the time to deal with this crap and will just pay it.

Will be going elsewhere to do taxes from now on. If you have in home rental income (in my case tenant rents room and bathroom and shares kitchen) and need to split property tax and mortgage interest between sch e and personal, good luck. Turbo Tax program offered to carryover my figures from federal to state for $59. I accepted and submitted. Then a few days later I thought the state refund seemed high, so I checked the state figures. Turbo Tax overstated my expenses by not splitting correctly and ultimately claiming deduction for total of 165% of my property tax and mortgage interest expenses. It was impossible to get access to the "total" figure to fix it. I tried to call for help 3 times. The first two people were friendly and kind, but seemed to know less than I do, and the third person was on the line breathing, but said nothing. I guess they wanted me to hang up so their call time stats looked good. The program for in home rental expenses is messed up, at least for state.

From what I understand, these people own TurboTax as well. I had a really awful experience with TurboTax as I am sure many of you are aware of their practices. If you go in for one of their freebies, they treat you like total crap. They made a huge mistake and they won't even give their customer back a dime. They advertise total satisfaction, 100% guaranteed highest possible return, we have your back, and they have pictures of these happy smiley accountants waving at you as if it's going to be a very friendly experience. Well it's not. I guess I guess TurboTax forward slash into it is the lesser of all evils I would certainly recommend not using them.

I have been using Intuit Lacerte for 20 years. Somehow the customer service got worse. I called today for a payment method update. Their system is bizarre. For the account owner, we need to update two different places in their system. I went to the payment method to update and got charged interest because I need to update the payment method in two different places. I called customer service to fix the problem. I asked her to pass my feedback to Lacerte Intuit regarding the payment method update. She said, you already updated your payment method, OK and hung up my call. What happened to their customer service? OMG!

Intuit is the parent company of Turbo. Apparently, Turbo has an affiliate relationship with Green Dot out of Texas. They provide what appears to be on line financial services. They issue a card and tell you you can send and receive money to others. What they don't tell you is:1) You need an account with what they call a "personalized card" to get the money. It takes about 7-10 day to get the card.2) The sender generates a link to get the money, but the link is time-limited. The time limit is about 10 days. So, effectively, you take the chance that you would get the money before the link expires. If the link expires, the chat bot says the money goes back to the sender. The website help page says the money is not recoverable.3) The website help page says if you don't have an account, you can get a "temporary card" and get the money. The chatbot says even if you get a "temporary card" it still takes 10 days to activate. So, again you are chancing getting your money lost in the ether, or maybe sent back to the sender.Oh, and there is a fee for all this. What's more, the only way to get help if you don't have an account is using the chat bot. The phone number listed on the website is only useful if you already have an account. So, there is no way to speak to a person. Of course, you can send a letter to the address they list for customer service.Overall, my experience puts this whole thing as little more than a scam. They seem to make it impossible to get your money if you don't already have an account. And the website help page provides conflicting (apparently misleading) information as compared to what the chatbot says.Best advice: Stay away from them if you need to send/receive money. There are other, more reliable services out there. And they don't hide their customer service people.

Every year, I am extremely careful about avoiding unnecessary charges on TurboTax. Nevertheless, every year, I get to the end and am held hostage by surprise charges to which i never agreed. Automatically upgrading me to the deluxe version unnecessarily and without my consent seems to be the most common extortion. When today I finally called to ask why this happens every year, the representative said a tax specialist could answer my question and transferred me. Lo and behold, in order to get to that tax specialist, the automated system wanted $60 from me and when I refused, it hung up. If I lived close enough to this company, I would walk my dog to take a s*** in their yard at every opportunity. They have spent decades fighting against free tax filing options in order to create their extortionate Monopoly. Read the articles from Propublica about them. It is embarrassing to have this company on the peninsula. Shame on you snakes.

Intuit's Turbotax Free Version is not free. There are many complaints about Turbotax tricking customers, but Intuit has many lobbyists and lawyers, and it seems courts have refused folks having a class action suit against them. My personal experience with Turbotax is that they try to sell you a servlice or product every few minutes as they 'help' you with your taxes. This year I anticipated a super-straight forward tax reporting, but I couldn't even get to my Turbotax account. It would cost me $52 to just ask Turbotax how to get started. I didn't want to pay the $52, so they asked me for $1 (??), which gave them. Still no help. I googled their telephone number, called it, and after 15 minutes got a live person, who quickly hung up on me. This year I've wasted 2 hours in dealing with Intuit's Turbotax. BEWARE OF TURBOTAX

while i find turbotax to generally be an acceptable, if not particularly well-designed aid to filing taxes, this year, various flaws in the layout of the program caused me to miss the deadline for the $30 discount because the issues that needed "review" were hidden by other parts of the page with no indicator to show this. agents for turbotax are not authorized to address such issues, nor offer a panacea. when i tried to use a different link for a $10 discount for march 2022, it would not give it. i assume the site retained the infor for the expired offer. this is pretty technologically-backward for 2022. as is the fact that there is no way to pursue this problem with any satisfactory outcome. considering the money raked in by the parent company, one would think they would have addressed these issues years ago. apparently not.

I have always had somebody prepare my tax documentation. This year, due to the stupid virus that has been going around for over a year, I decided to use TurboTax Deluxe by Intuit and prepared my own tax documentation. I have seen the process a few times before and I was somewhat skeptical in my abilities. I was also afraid to screw up and get hammered for any unintended mistakes. My tax situation for 2020 was not particularly complicated so I decided to try TurboTax Deluxe and see how smooth or difficult the process would be. It turned out to be somewhat time consuming and slightly painful but the sequence of steps is linear and well organized. You don't have to be an expert in taxation but you need to know a few things about your earnings, interests and retirement contributions. It turns out I was able to prepare my taxes in about 2 hours which is not bad. I had a hiccup because of my Roth IRA contributions which, according to the software, were above the 2020 limit of $5500 when, actually, the limit should be $6000. This was calculated based on my gross income, bank accounts interests and retirement contributions. According to the software I overcontributed by $280. I tried to make sense of it but I could not since the official number is $6000 and not $5500. I tried to call the TurboTax line at 888-777-3066 and 800-446-8848 which lead to the same automated system. I tried to connect with somebody but the female voice is retarded. You try to say things to move to her and she constantly apologizes, not understanding what you say. I wonder if she understand English at all. Well, if she doesn't then she might as well tell me what language she prefers and I will speak in that language. After trying a few times to talk to the retarded female robot she just told me to have a nice day and disconnected me. Yeah: WTF? That's stupid. I just gave up and filed an IRA return of excess contribution to avoid a 6%/$16 penalty. Next year I will make sure I do not contribute too much to my Roth IRA and contribute at the last minute as needed so that I will be able to save time at the computer and completely avoid the TurboTax line which is completely ineffective.Quality of the software: 5Quality of the support: 1

I've been using Intuit Turbo Tax tax preparation services since 2007. This year I filed at the end January (2021), as I usually do. I received emails and texts as the processing went through each stage. I absolutely love this software and the business. They have made tax filing so much easier for years. I've been able to keep documents and tax returns safely in one place and get my return as fast as possible. The only downfall is how much they raise the price each year. There is an extra fee for each state tax prep as well.
