Old Town Murrieta is a very quiet place most days, but Calhoun's is always busy with lots of take out orders and people going through. Service is very fast and it appears that you can call ahead to order. The menu is standard fare for American BBQ, and everything we tried off the menu is good. The physical space is very small, they only have about 4 tables so I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group and expecting to sit down and eat. They pack everything in to go boxes so it's easy to just grab your order and go. The food and service is superb, you can definitely tell everything made from scratch and with care!Parking: The plaza is reasonably sized with parking easily available.Kid-friendliness: American BBQ is messy. As long as you have napkins for the kids, they should be alright.Wheelchair accessibility: ADA accessible entrance and seating available.
We walked in & immediately it felt like a healthy family gathering. People laughing, talking & eating. The food was delicious! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful that you didn't need any sauce to eat it. The pulled pork was tender, juicy and flavored just right, I added a small amount of sauce just for habits sake. The bun didn't get soggy & wasnt to bulky either. The fresh cut fries had that perfect mix of soft & crunchy that paired nicely with the BBQ sauce. The beans were yummy and the coleslaw got better with every bite, by the last swallow we wanted to order more but couldn't possibly fit it in!Their pricing is more than fair and their customer service is fantastic. I appreciated that they didnt put the bbq sauce all over everything, we usually have to request it on the side for dietary reasons for my husband & preference for my son. This was our 1st time here, but it won't be our last.Dietary restrictions: They put the BBQ sauce on the side, you can add as needed or not at all.
What a great place. Food was excellent, tasty, hot, great all the way around. Reasonable prices. Friendly place. It's now our go to BBQ place and it's in old town Murrieta, the coolest!
*update*Tried calling at 1720 on a Tuesday. No answer guess its fate.Because why would you be open on Sunday for lunch when most people are off from work trying to have lunch?

First time at this great place. This sweet family puts heart and soul into this delicious food. The place was warm and welcoming, super clean and the food was delicious. Will be back for sure.Tried the brisket sandwich with the hot link, with a side of fries. Super good, great smoke and flavor. The sauce was one of my favorites.

I enjoyed a delicious beef brisket slider and cole slaw. The beef was tender, the sauce was just right, the cole slaw was perfect,! I definitely will be back!
Delicious food. Good prices. Staff was personable and food came out quick! Mac and cheese was the best Mac I've ever had! Also recommend the ribs and sweet potato pie!
