My wife and I went here for a late afternoon tasting. We really enjoyed this place as it has a very old world Spanish feel to it. The gardens are stunning, and if you book ahead of time, and can do your tasting in the family home, it is well worth it. This venue have a 90 year old sequoia tree, beautiful flowering gardens, a well rounded veggie garden, beautiful fountains, and birds that are constantly chirping/singing. My wife and I did the cheese and wine tasting, but I know this venue also has a garden meal & tasting, which from looking around at our fellow wine goers, also looked very tasty. Great Experience, especially if you are an outdoor lover.

My family and I came here as part of my 21st birthday celebration. Hands down one of the BEST parts of our trip!!! Michael was the MOST incredible tour guide and really made our experience so special. It was intimate, catering to what we wanted to learn more about, and genuinely just so enjoyable and fun. Michael had thoughtful, impressive, and sometimes hilarious answers for every question we could think of and we were especially amazed by the section of our tour where he explained to us how the vines grow from cane to fruit and back around again. He was such a wealth of knowledge, and had apparent passion for what he does--we were learning about things we didn't even know there was to be learned! The entire tour was incredibly interesting, unique, and fun. We could have spent all day hanging out with Michael as he drove us through the vineyards, pulled out his tool kit to show us how the vines are grown (which we were particularly interested in!), gave us wine to taste in the mustard field, walked us through their facilities explaining how the wine is then made, and chatted with us further in the beautiful tasting room as we sipped on incredible tasting wines!!Trefethen's vineyards and overall property is beautiful and the people there were all wonderful. We have nothing but amazing things to say about Trefethen, Michael, and the wines we tasted. 100/10 experience and we would love to come back again some day!

We loved this place! The Trefethen family has a long and interesting history and they obviously care about the valley and their employees. It’s awesome you get to pick your own tasting from 3 options. The wines are some of the best we had in Napa. Gary is an awesome sommelier.

Trefethen was nothing short of the best experience I have had in the Napa Valley. While some wineries in Napa bring you to a wonderful estate from which the wine is not always made from. Trefethen takes you directly to the vineyards, every wine they produce is sourced from their estate. By the way the wine is the second best part of this place, and it is incredible producing a wide variety of Bordeaux reds, and Burgundy style Pinot, and Chard. However the best part overall is the tremendous staff they have, the highlight being Hunter their Estate Sommelier, whom was so kind and walked us through a terrific tasting, answering every question along the way. A truly perfect Napa experience!

We visited Trefethen on one of our Napa trips (we visit 2-3 times a year). We didn't have it on our list of wineries to visit nor had we really heard anything about it. The property is nice, you are encouraged to walk around and explore the vineyard. They tasting was out on a patio area which was nice. our server was Josh. Josh was very well educated on the Trefethen wines as well as wine growing and wine making. My friends and I all enjoy learning about the wine growing and making process so we were thrilled to spend time talking with Josh. He was such a pleasure to have as our host for our afternoon at Trefethen! We purchased a bottle of the 2019 Dragon's Tooth. Tasting fee was $45.

First time I came to this winery when my family was visiting from Europe and since then I am a member of this beautiful winery. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, wine is delicious and location if beautiful.

I had memories of Trefethen for many years. We knew Chet Spooner and his daughter Janet. Many years ago we tried their Chardonnay when our grandmother married Chet. Since I tried their wine many years ago and knew some of the family we decided to go to the winery and give them our business and try their other wines. We did the reserve tasting. At the Villa. Atmosphere was great. Beautiful rooms and decor. Service was disappointing. They pour your wines and leave. No conversations, history about the winery, or any pleasantries. Just pour and leave you on your own. One of most underwhelming service we have experienced at a Napa winery. The wine itself was decent but not in our style. We like big Napa cabs with fruit and tannins. The reds we were poured were more earthy and lighter. Maybe trending toward the French style. Drinkable and good quality, but didn't stand out. But everyone has their own likes and styles so totally understandable. Solid winery with amazing atmosphere and decent wine. The main drawback was the service. Not at all welcoming or inspiring service. We will give them another chance and try the regular tasting next time. The staff in the main building was a lot more friendlier and social than in the villa. So maybe a standard tasting is the way to go?

Great wine and even better service! We've been wine club members for 2.5 years and enjoy bringing friends and family with us to the winery!

Great wines and if you become a member, the member parties are great! We went last Saturday and the staff is always amazing and the wines are solid.

We had such a nice time at Trefethen. My husband and I have been to a lot of wineries in the area but on this trip we were specifically looking for something that would also appeal to my parents, who were spending a weekend with us nearby but are basically non-drinkers. Trefethen was more than happy to accommodate us, and treated my non-tasting parents with just as much hospitality as they treated the two drinkers. The grounds were beautiful and the tasting room was decorated for the fall harvest- absolutely gorgeous, very homey and inviting. Our host poured my parents some grape juice made on the property and we all enjoyed tasting the much sweeter and better juice than what you can get in grocery stores. The wines were also fantastic, all very drinkable but with plenty of complexity to hold your interest. I love a good Napa winery that knows more than just cabs, and Trefethen fit the bill. We left with a few bottles- Dragon's Tooth was a standout Malbec blend- and will definitely be back.

Eh - not impressed. Wines weren’t great and the service wasn’t either.

If I could give Trefethen 10 stars I would! My wife and I booked a tour and tasting of this vineyard for a Monday morning. To get to the main building, which was built in the 1860's, you drive up a tree lined road between the vines. The place is just beautiful! The tour itself was so much better than we could have imagined. Our guide, Michael, was so informative and pleasant, it made it a great experience. We were shown the process of bringing the grapes into the tanks and the complex procedures of making wine. Seeing everything up close was amazing. Next we took a golf cart out into the vineyard to see the vines and grapes firsthand. Listening to all the work involved growing the vines was so interesting. Michael also explained the history of the vineyard and Napa which was fascinating. Our final stop was the tasting room. We sat at this gorgeous dining room table and tasted so many different bottles. It was fantastic! Sometimes you book things and they don't live up to your expectations, this was exactly the opposite. What we expected to be a 90 minute event turned into us being at Trefethen over 3 hours! Thanks very much to Michael, he made it a memorable experience for my wife and me!
