This thanksgiving I ordered a Cajun fried turkey and Smitty really made a delicious juicy turkey and was very accommodating with the pickup! When I placed my order I also had the pleasure of trying his catfish and jambalaya soo good! Don't miss out on the best Cajun food in San Diego. Smitty is very friendly and professional I'm very happy this thanksgiving and so was my family!

What a wonderful surprise this evening. Walking through North Park I caught a smell of BBQ. It appeared to come from Torque Moto. I walked in to ask if they started serving BBQ. That's when I met Smitty and learned about Smitty's Taste of the Bayou. Now I have had BBQ from all over the U.S and lets face it California is not a powerhouses when it comes to BBQ. Smitty is trying to change that. I ordered the combo plate which with 2 ribs, 1/4 of chicken, Mac & Cheese and Green beans. I started with the Mac & Cheese and it was AMAZING! The ribs had a amazing homemade bbq sauce. The chicken was smoked to perfection and the green beans was out of this world. Smitty was the final piece that made it by far one of the best bbq places in California.

I like the location, the inside is great for reading or chillin. I even like the lady who runs the place. She was nice and friendly. We got a coffee and juice and just relaxed for a bit after a hot afternoon outside. Drawn by the smoke grill we gave Smittys who rents this space from the owner a shot. The food was not as good as it smelled so we left dissatisfied. However I'd come back to this place moto café for breakfast.

FINALLY! Good BBQ exists in San Diego! The food here is absolutely incredible. Ribs that are absolutely incredible and the service here.....it reminds me so much of my childhood in texas and lousiana. You guys are wizards on the grill and made me feel like I was at the worlds best summer back yard bbq.Much love and cant wait to come back here again!

Came In right at 3pm to grab some of this BBQ goodness I've heard about. Smitty is such a down to earth dude, really enjoyed the vibes as much as the food. I ordered the 2 rib plate w/beer. It came with two sides(collard greens and Mac n cheese). Portion size was perfect and the flavors were excellent! He serves catfish on Fridays! Will definitely come back to give that a try! (Sorry no pics of the food, devoured before I remembered to take one)

Smitty's is the perfect place to go when you want some taste of home. The COMBO (2 ribs and 1/4 leg chicken) was amazing! The flavors of the BBQ RIBS was sticky and sweet and fall of the bone goodness! The CHICKEN was cooked perfectly moist and smoky-ring pink. The GREEN BEANS were off the hook! ... and the DIRTY RICE was a perfect side, the rice was fluffy, full of flavor and balanced with the perfect amount of meat and seasonings. You will definitely want to double up on the order next time! The flavors were authentic and took us back as if we were in Louisiana. The smell of the smoke lingering in the breeze complimented our dinner-by-candle- light at our communal picnic table. What a way to end the night! Shout out to Bella who was friendly and cordial when taking our order. Definitely knew her stuff! Smitty, your food was amazing! We will definitely be back.. coming back for some catfish and collard greens!!

This place is actually located inside of Torque moto cafe. We was trying to find good barbecue for late lunch and this place killed it. Smitty and the owner of torque moto cafe were very nice to us. We had rib plate and gumbalaya(gumbo+jambalaya). Seriously, the gumbalaya was everything!! I wish i could have it again but we were just visiting so i guess it has to be the next time when we visit SD again. Really recommend this place.
