I would eat here again but would not suggest the coffee or grilled sandwich. I usually write great reviews of places I enjoy eating. I’ve been ordering food here everyday for lunch for the last year and these girls who work here are so nice and friendly and always go out of their way to make sure the customers are happy. My favorite meals are the chicken Caesar wrap, the breakfast burrito, the chicken quesadilla (comes with a good homemade tasting salsa), and the Asian chicken salad. Really big portion sizes too so I like to save half for later. Also, I always order online with them which saves time :)

The beef bulgogi had little flavor and was very gristly. The worst I've had. Yikes ! One of the pieces of meat was metallic looking and shiny green. I threw it out at that point. $11 wasted.

I started coming to Cafe Basil in January when I started a job in one of the medical buildings nearby. I love their menu and the girls are great! My favorites are: veggie sandwich on squaw bread (light carrot), turkey chili, and Italian wedding meatball soup (served on Thursdays only). Their Turkeycado sandwich is also great! Girls are friendly, remember your name (and your favorites) and always are helpful when asked about menu choices. Definitely the place to go for a delicious and affordable meal

I've been buying coffee here over the years when visiting Doctors in nearby buildings. Yesterday was the first time I had the opportunity and time to order food.My wife and I needed to wait between appointments so I mentioned getting sandwiches here. We're glad we did.My wife is picky and I hesitate to get her things from places I haven't vetted first. As someone who built restaurants, created operational manuals for restaurant franchise and some five star restaurants including years of food photography I definitely judge all meals on visual appearance first. Presentation is important but more importantly is seeing fresh ingredients.If I see tomato slices lacking deep red color and with the stem cores included I probably won't ever return. When it comes to food, if you wouldn't eat it yourself don't expect your customers to eat it either.When we looked at the sandwiches we saw a healthy layer of perfect green lettuce, red tomatoes and generous serving of proteins (you know, meats).We ordered one sandwich on white, one on squaw and one on the French roll. All of the bread was fresh as was the rest of the ingredients.We liked it so much we went back the next day and tried a few different things plus smoothiesAnother important factor key to whether or not I revisit places is the staff. In my just two visits and asking for minor tweaks to the sandwich I am happy to say every person here listens carefully paying attention to the details. Listening and repeating orders back to the customer are essential for good customer service in the restaurant industry.The service and the food here is very good and anyone hungry, or thirsty, should stop in and enjoy.

ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE!! Not a good start to a healthy breakfast! Stopped in because I had lots of blood work done and needed some food before driving back to work as I was feeling a bit light headed. Should have gone to Starbucks down the street. Something is seriously wrong in this place you can just feel the tension as soon as I walked in. My latte was disgusting and needless to say so was the food!! If this place wants to stay in business in Newport Beach they need to step up their game and their customer service skills. There's plenty of amazing places to eat near them that value their customers and serve great food more affordable then what I paid for my meal here!
