this place is a low-key and hidden gem. I've always gotten their sandwiches (great on sourdough or the "rustic roll," which is their pizza dough) but recently got a pizza for my 2 year old and DAMN it was good! bubbly chewy crust, simple quality toppings, tasty ranch on the side, grab a bottle of vino and chill on the patio... perfect place to grab a bite with kids, no snooty vibes, and a variety of options. we have definitely become regulars here.

Stopped there after a long flight. It was very relaxing. Clean, good food and service, pleasant clientele.

Ahh ..... where do you start after going to the original liquor store deli in the shopping center that the prior owner's family owned and owned this cute restaurant that we have visited for over 30 years or so vs . the new version of Champagne's . Breakfast yes a great place which we have frequented many times while we vacation in Newport Coast . Well the menu has drastically changed dinner was just not top notch like it used to be maybe cooks have changed . Very few or no pasta dishes or is discontinued per the waitress . They were out of bread per our server did not offer anything else but then we ordered appetizer and it came with BREAD. The dishes needed seasonings FOR FLAVOR and just a little more TLC . Pot pie a 3 no flavor or gravy crust was ok , Chicken Piccata 8 good flavor , Shrimp with Grits 5 had no flavor and grits were not correct . Pasta with oily oil no flavor ( I asked for a dish with simple pasta sauce or fettuccini ) and shrimp we took it home in a box our Mother mom just could not eat it all oily . This place has great potential, but maybe it was just a busy night and the chefs need an update on new versions of popular plates that people will like in Newport Coast . We will be back for breakfast , servers are the polite a bit slow need to learn menu items and be a little more flexible or find out answers and not tell us owner is too busy to ask . The new Owners are very friendly and work hard in their restaurant. I hope this helps to keep this company running . UPDATE : APRIL 2-2024 After thinking, it was a busy holiday, Easter weekend, and Good Friday I still enjoy coming to Champagne's in Newport Beach . I still give 4.5 stars it's a wonderful place to jumpstart your morning as well so keep that in mind thank you !!!

Top notch eats and helpful staff in a clean environment. Consider this fine delicatessen over all surrounding business in the vicinity.

I’ve been here several times and they’ve never failed to impress. My favorite is the quinoa salad, which I would get with the beef au jus sandwich.EDIT: although the food and atmosphere is great something kept bugging me and today as I brought my almost 100 yo father in law here for the 3rd time I figured it out. In order to look at the COMPLETE menu you have to stand at the counter and look up. This would’ve been hard for my FIL or for any senior who would easily get tired and overwhelmed. They only have partial menus to take to the table if you choose to. Because we took long to order we missed the 11 am cut off for breakfast and it was just downhill from that point. We walked out (and went to Zinc and had a fantastic and friendlier experience). It’s not a matter or conservation or recycling. PRINT YOUR MENUS. And they have the nerve to ask for 22% tip when they don’t even accommodate to customers much less do table service?

I recently dined at this restaurant over the weekend to catch up with my sister. It's a 1/2 point between living in Los Angeles and my sister living in San Diego. We weren't sure what to expect as we were trying a new place and it was beyond what we could have hoped for. The ambiance was casual yet homey. We had the pepperoni and sausage pizza and they were so good, better than what we've had at most places. It was fresh, savory, cheesy and the crust was a good combination of crunch, chewy and light. I believe the owner introduced himself, he was so open and welcoming. He even brought our niece and nephew cookies. I was able to try part of the toffee cookie and honestly I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!!! 5/5 def recommend if you're in the area!

I got the chicken piccata to go. The pasta is fine but the chicken is barely cooked and has no flavor or anything it almost tastes raw and this was after taking two tiny bites, not a lot of food for $25 :(
