This is such a fun place to grab a treat with friends. I got the cinnamon dipped banana, and it was okay. If I were to go back I would get chocolate, or add on some more toppings. Pretty good and decent frozen banana! $5 for this small and perfect size for a sweet treat! They had a lot of great smelling pastries in there too and the staff was very kind!

Apart from the frozen banana, icecream bars and donuts that were okay, the service wasn't good. We had bought seven bananas and bars, after paying, my husband stood at the counter, picking up one by one from the lady who made them and turning around to hand over each to one of the children. Unfortunately, one of the bananas had fallen from the stick that came with, inches from the window bar, and my husband immediately asked the window of they would give us one. Not that we were beggers or we just wanted more, it was just on the way of passing along the food, and one child was left without holding one. The lady behind the counter coldly replied, no it's your responsibility, I'm not giving you one. Well, this experience deserves a one star rating from all of us.

Great little ice cream shop with wide selection of treats. Including soft serve ice cream regular ice cream famous frozen bananas ice cream bars and baked goods staff is friendly and service goes quick. The environment is friendly and old fashioned.

Would give zero stars. We got 2 frozen bananas and a hippo cookie. Got back to the car and one of the bananas had a hair sticking out of the side of it! Totally grossed us out so took it all back for a full refund and the rude lady got mad at us! Told us if we take the refund to never come back! Lady do you think we're going to rush back or make it a habit to return hair food and ask for refunds??? Goodness!

The hippo cookie used to be my favorite cookie in the world. So much so, that I had them at my wedding. I bought a dozen today and they were horrible. They used to be thick and soft and now they are thin, crumbly and seems like the bakery is cutting corners, unfortunately. Hippo cookies went from being my favorite for 25 years to very unlikely I will buy them again. I’m so sad and disappointed. Not sure when they changed their recipe, but sending a farewell to the old hippo cookies. ?❤️

This is our favorite spot to go to when on the island. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. My go to order is the soft serve with the everything topping in a cone. It's always so good and made with love!

One thing Balboa Island is known for is frozen bananas. Two stores in particular see lines running down the block as they vie for the title of both the first Orange County original frozen banana stand and the best Orange County frozen banana stand. Although Dad's Donut & Bakery Shop offers an excellent frozen banana at a lower cost than its neighboring competitor, the dipping chocolate was not as good in comparison.MY ORDERx1 Extra Large banana EXTRA LARGE BANANA ($5.95): The banana was rather large and the Oreo crumbs were quite generous and tasty. However, I like dark chocolate and the dipping chocolate was notably different compared to the premium dark chocolate dip at Sugar 'n Spice. While the lines for both stores looked as long as each other, the line at Dad's Donut & Bakery Shop moved much quicker.TIPS:- the line at Dad's Donut & Bakery Shop moves quicker than the one at Sugar 'n Spice

It's all about Yam, the baker, and so much more. This Balboa Island institution has been part of a beautiful tradition that has gone on, for years and years, next door the beautiful little church. Try the freshly made, chocolate covered, and custard filled bars with one of their delicious hot coffee beverages! All of his other employees are friendly, warm, and appreciative! Their longtime customers are like family. Come early for a parking spot, right in front!
