They added a ~22% mystery fee onto our bill which I'm assuming is automatic gratuity, but was just listed as "%" on the bill as a line item under "total". I thought it was taxes initially. I'm sure a lot of people think that and then give an additional gratuity on top of that. There are no signs or notices posted about this hidden fee. I checked the menu, the walls, the host stand, and even their website. No mention anywhere. It's against consumer protection laws to do that, so not cool. Also bad service. Food was alright. Avoid the clam chowder.

This place was great. They had strong, tasty drinks and amazing food. Great service. And the view is so nice. With cute interior if you'd rather be inside. DEFINITELY would come again. Love the location as well. And the fish and chips, calamari and tartar sauce were amazing. Come here! Happy Saint Patty's day!!!!

Joined my husband and some friends here earlier today. Felt that the drinks were overpriced for what you got. There also is no ceiling in part of the restaurant- it looks like they are under construction. The service here was slow even though it wasn't busy. We had to try to grab the attention of our server more than once. Not sure I would recommend based on this visit.

Had a blast with family watching the Super Bowl with our awesome server Robert enjoying yummy food and cocktails. We were able to watch the game with 7 TVs. Lots of fun and lively groups. We were able to sit there for the entire game. Highly recommend! Fight On!

Had a meal and drinks while watching football playoffs and the Super Bowl. Everything was great, tv screens were close, the crowd was fun and respectful (no one got obnoxious); food was great and not overly priced. Service was great. Totally great experience!

This is the best item we have ever ordered here. These were full of flavor and creamy delicious. Service is very good today. Bartender is courteous and super cool. The locals are here warming up and getting there last dry mingling before the rain starts in an hour. We will be shut in for 4 days. We like it so much here we want to move here.

The bruschetta was the worst I’ve ever had! Who serves bruschetta on crostini bread? The tomatoes were ice cold, last time I checked bruschetta is supposed to be served hot on a toasted crusty piece of bread with NO onions. Sliced bread in triangles so all the pieces fall off is not how you make bruschetta!! Hey chef, maybe YouTube how to make bruschetta! Plus $13 is obviously Balboa Island prices for 4 tiny triangles of bread.

We've eaten at the Village Inn on Balboa Island several times BEFORE the pandemic and it was fine. We went again today, arriving around 4:30 pm. We got bowls of New England clam chowder with garlic bread, then we walked around window shopping and looking at the lights. The food was good but we had to chase down our bill to pay, which wasn't good. I imagine plenty of people have just left without paying ... no one appears into be "minding the store", as the saying goes. Then we used the restrooms before we left. EWWWWW !!!!If a restaurant doesn't keep their restrooms clean, what is happening in the KITCHEN ??? The floor appeared to have NOT been scrubbed or mopped for MONTHS, possibly YEARS. The white tile and grout were FILTHY. No one is monitoring for cleanliness. There were wads of toilet paper stuck to the ceiling - I kid you not! I physically got queasy after using their restroom. My thoughts turned to their kitchen. How filthy and disgusting are their food prep areas??? Photos are worth a thousand words so I'm allowing them to tell this story ...FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR CUSTOMERS, CLEAN YOUR DISGUSTING BATHROOMS !!!
